Oh dear. Got a bit of a problem!!

Seems like a lot of ifs to me and let’s get real the vehicle is not a old nail that has done a million miles 🙂
Neither is mine but I'd never chance it having once righted it. :giggle:
The breather system will go through a separator not allowing anything except vapour back into the inlet.
My van doesn't? It is a direct breather pipe from the rocker cover to the turbo inlet pipe just after the maf sensor. Additionally when the copper washer sealing the base of the injector to the head lets by it allows fumes & pressure in to the rocker chamber & assists the build up of oil in the turbo inlet leading to increased emissions & possible mot failure. Common problem on Transits.

When an engine has been on its side or upside down for a period of time, the oil in the sump can creep past the piston rings and fill the top of the cylinder with oil. Depending on the valves and piston's position in the firing cycle, this can lead to a "hydraulic lock" situation which, when you crank the engine over, can lead to bent con rods and damaged pistons.
The same sort of thing that can happen when you drive an ICE vehicle through floods and they draw water in through their air filter, which the piston then tries to compress.....
I realise what your thinking after heavy diesel mechanicing for 50yrs but IF it can run into all those orifices when its upside down, when its righted, it should all run down again AND you speak as if removing "a couple of injector" is as easy as removing a plug on a petrol vehicle. You obviously haven't done it on many Fiat Ducato's. Sometimes the head has to be removed and there are companies who's ONLY occupation is removing injectors from heads.

Don't mention Renault's either.....!

This is very true on newer stuff ,but hopefully they have glow plgs that you can remove instead easier.

I was surprized they dragged the front round, we would have hauled it from the rear up the slope? Great message pictures!

Great thread, sooo glad it had a happy ending, not sure our Burstner would have faired so well in a similar situation, can't believe how little damage was done 🙂

Cheers

All the gear, no idea comes to mind...
Theres seems a lot of that with these trucks ... I follow a guy on instagram with a big 6 wheeler overlander truck ...@livinginabox.de only last week he posted about how nervous he was taking it on this dirt road in Albania .....i drove the same road in my iveco 😁

It might have been the wife driving!

Richard.
It looked to be two men.

Both and passenger should have been well aware that you can’t drive a heavy vehicle such as theirs on a track such as the one they were negotiating. The vehicle looks new which makes me wonder if they were very inexperienced.

In my post I never implied your van was an old nail,
I am going to assume your van is an off roader, and you being a sensible guy would never tip your van over👍
It may be a bit more of a simple job just turning the crank with an appropriate spanner, as removing injectors on modern engines can be a major job as you well know🙂

I see a nosy long haired Santa turned up, in shorts with his hands in his pockets as usual, as much use a chocolate teapot.:giggle:
I wonder if the Unimog started on the key, or whether it was towed off to a garage, guess we will never know, unless someone is following on social media.
That's the second Unimog I have seen recently with what seems to me to have a very small hab box, compared to the size of the truck, I like the ones that stick out at the back end, with a 45% chamfer, much more room inside, for not a lot of extra weight.
Ah well all's well that ends well, he will be off to desert near you next, oh that will be Salisbury Plain then.

When we were in France this summer, we saw one of these vehicles, also looked brand new. Two men in it, looked like father and son (but that was just our thoughts) the older one made a right pigs ear of getting it on and off the service point. We wondered then just how he'd manage in an off road situation.

I don't suppose it was them 🤔😂

They will be telling the story for years to come. One hell of a memory from a great adventure.

as you say, every days a school day. I didn't know Antarctica was classed as a Polar desert until it was mentioned on one of the BBC a few weeks back?

Yes... technically the largest desert on the planet.!
