Number plates with eu sign and uk

I covered the EU stars on the number plates as soon as I got it home. My choice was a cross of St George and 'ENG'. That's confused lots of people in Europe over the years but I have never been challenged officially. I have bought GB stickers but will wait to be told before applying them.

You can still display and purchase an EU numberplate legally and even get one for the Model Year 2022
You can still purchase GB stickers 'legally' but they are not actually valid, its just sellers trying it on.

Coming to a Hymer near you soon........I know I shouldn't, just cant help myself though  ......its called little acts of defiance

Apparently

What's triggered the change? One word…Politics.

While no official announcement has been made, it is anticipated that the change has been implemented to show solidarity with Northern Ireland due to Brexit.

Still don’t understand?

It is quite simple (and some might even use words like ‘bureaucratic’ or ‘petty’)…

The term ‘Great Britain’ refers to England, Scotland and Wales. While the term ‘United Kingdom’, in fact, refers to each of these areas plus Northern Ireland.

By making the rule that you must display a ‘UK’ sticker, the plan is to ensure that motorists on the continent (and in the Republic of Ireland) are actually highlighting that Northern Ireland is still part of our nation.

It’s the little things that count. Right?
The term ‘Great Britain’ refers to England, Scotland and Wales. While the term ‘United Kingdom’, in fact, refers to the area governed by Her Majesty The Queen, including Northern Ireland.

If the area changes, for example by losing Northern Ireland or Scotland, or even Wales, then no change to the sticker will be necessary. I'm sure that gives the people of Northern Ireland renewed confidence in the promises of the government.

Think it would take more than changing GB to U.K. !

(I still have not found a way of deleting this post once I've started without leaving an entry, is there one?)
Before you hit 'Post Reply' you can just delete everything and nothing will be posted.

After you hit 'Post Reply' you have several minutes to delete or amend content. Hit 'Edit' to be allowed to do this. I don't think you can entirely delete the whole entry, but you can delete everything in it, including the quotes, so that it is a blank post.

We just done 6 weeks in France, Spain and Portugal, GB on the number plate, without a UK Sticker and angle morts, no problem. We even had a blow out in Spain, which the Police attended...which is another story!
Honestly, no body cares. Those UK stickers are just plain ugly and I wont be putting one on unless I absolutely have no option.

Thats exactly what I did but, as you say, it leaves a blank post on my computer even if you delete it all BEFORE 'post entry' . I just thought there might be an easy answer but never mind, I will not lose sleep over it, but thanks anyway.

For France and most other countries it is sufficient to put small UK sticker over the GB on the blue band on the numberplate. For Spain and a few other countries you must have a big white oval UK sticker on the back of the vehicle. If you have the big UK sticker, you do not have to cover the GB on the number plate blue band. It's no longer valid, but it's not illegal. If you have the UK oval for Spain, it is valid in all other countries too. The oval GB sticker is no longer valid, but it's not illegal so you don't have to remove it if you don't want.
How can you tell its Oval on a White Moho ? as I've cut mine down to a Square ish shape, but the UK bits still the same size...

I was in Gibraltar last week well parked outside and walked in we went in twice passports stamped both sides on our second visit passport checked and stamped on the way in on the way out on the Spanish side the customs women had a fit after checking our passports she said this is your second visit I said as you can see by the stamps she replied you are only allowed to visit once a month I she it’s a bit late now and why did your work mate stop us on the way in them she replied that’s the law I said sorry and did not know but now I do thank you she said just go so we did? Has anyone else had this problem?
Been a few times and recently in October, parked on the marina La Linea for three days and visited Gib each day and like you passports stamped at both customs each time, never heard of the once a month malarky.

You can't actually do a totally blank post, you have to put something in it, some people just put a full stop so they can re-post it. You could make it look blank by changing the colour of the text to the same as the background ...

I've bought one with a black border so it will show up.

We, on the Isle of Man can continue using our 'GBM' stickers. We are part of the British Isles, not the United Kingdom.

Craig

Not wishing to be flippant or cause offence but wouldn't I'M be more memorable? IF UK causes confusion, I'll bet GBM does too?

I didn't think we were allowed to have the EU stars displayed either, no longer being in the EU?
Presumably though you could have whatever you like outside the border of the UK sticker so stars all around it

No more so than GBJ for Jersey or GBG for Guernsey... both of which are also still legal, for the same reason as Simsy56 said, they're part of the British Isles, but not part of the UK, being 'Crown Dependencies' which are self-governing.

You can in that there is no rule or law to make anyone make changes to the old style plates with the EU symbols you just have to have the U.K. oval on the rear of the vehicle 🚗
