Not going to be a good year after all then

Matt Hancock has definitely now said over 70s will be asked to self isolate for 4 months at some unspecified point in the future. I'm not 70 until July - what a birthday present! Thing is, how am I supposed to eat? Will the Govt arrange food supplies to those of us living alone? Also I have a heart condition which will go rapidly downhill if I don't get out and about and exercise.

They are apparently in talks with deliveroo etc to deliver food to people in isolation

so your food will be delivered by a person who cant afford to self isolate even if they feel they should
Yep pretty much

And speaking as a delivery driver at the minute it's impossible to keep your hands clean and a safe distance from customers

I'm fed up telling folk I can't enter there house
Cant get blooming hand sanitiser for love or money up here

Can you deliver to Perth? I’ll let you wash your hands here :-)

I don't know what Parliament you're talking about but, as far as I'm concerned NONE of them have a clue.

They all depend on advisers and appropriate 'experts' in their field.

We are being told all the Parties are working together.
That should make it difficult to lay blame by the opposition parties, although they will try ?

It takes the “Fun” out of this or any forum when ones political views are aired...other than on political forums!

Also, quoting/misquoting newspaper and any media headlines leaves you wide open for criticism...and often, looking a bit silly! We all know how the media sensationalises everything to sell their product - without in many instances, having clear evidence... not to mention, their own bias! However, this inevitably leads to confusion and, in many cases, fear being spread and then, perpetuated on social media. It can be very destructive and it behoves all of us on this forum to avoid doing the same.

Let’s keep it fun!

It really is such a shame that ‘northern raider‘ was so rude.
you only have to look at the demographics to see that the older you are then the more likely you are to be vulnerable to this virus.
self isolating for a month isn’t a bad idea,
Take your motorhome with you and stay in all of those out of the way places that you’ve always wanted to visit.
A month in my moto, sheer bliss.
?????
Hé is always rude or argumentative in my opinion, so I never allow myself to read anything he says. I have a special button. Lol ? ? ?

I'm devastated

I've discovered people who object to political opinions only do so when it's an alternative opinion to theres

Boris may not be to blame for Coronavirus BUT his party are certainly to blame for the NHS cuts inflicted over the last 10 years
And its those cuts , lack of equipment, shortage of nurses , doctors etc that will now struggle to cope with the current pandemic.
Add to that their complete balls up of approach to handling it and not having the police numbers either to enforce it that will result in many unnecessary deaths

Mostly of people in the age group of this forum.

The original post was mine. When I posted I was pissed off as indeed I still am. It was not my intention to start a party political argument.
BUT
In my view the NHS has been underfunded and misdirected for many years by all parties.

I am concerned about the government's strategy which whether intentional or not will mean that a large number of vulnerable people will be put unnecessarily at risk. I am not talking about the over seventies. I am thinking more about those in at risk groups in the rest of the population who in the absence of a robust lockdown will inevitably be at increased risk.

Did anyone watch the BBC contagion documentary? Seems the Govt are reacting to their findings,. basic rule, don't shop at any hardware store, don't use railway stations, gyms or pubs, don't fly, have holidays or use schools and you should be fine as long as you keep 2 mtrs away from your nearest contact and wash your hands as per instructions at least 10 times a day and you will be fine ..............as long as you don't want bog roll or pasta!

Weird thing is the stockpilers seem to forget the pasta comes from italy and the rice from china

Sod stockpiling that lol

Haggis....that's what you want

I just bought up Scotland’s supply. £50 apiece to you my son :)

Why can't we use a motorhome to self isolate? I'm still planning to travel. Going to wide open spaces. Then walking or cycling well away from anyone.

Eyegeedee, look up self isolation. It’s this attitude that’s got Europe in a mess.

What happens if you become ill? Who is going to look after you then? How will you get supplies of groceries fuel and gas? Where are you going to stop at night? It is difficult enough at home to arrange some of these things as safely as you can, but even more difficult when you are away and do not know the area and have nobody nearby you know.

For example we do not have an on-line account for delivering groceries and it is getting very difficult to order any without having to wait for weeks as a new customer. Our Son and DiL have accounts with several supermarkets and can include our requirements in their orders. Our Son can then bring them over (only 2 miles) and leave them on the doorstep. Not absolutely fool proof but a lot better than us going into crowded supermarkets.

Remember the isolation is not just for your safety, it is also for everybody else's safety.

We’re in Calais waiting to get on the Euro Tunnel I can’t explain how surreal it was traveling through Spain and France, we’re going straight home into isolation more to protect other people than ourselves. Luckily we’re well stocked up at home including face masks as the Wife realised the proverbial was going to hit the fan before we left but we’re shocked it’s happened so quickly!
