Non apologetic, smug arrogance .

Being a tag axle, would the maximum load per axle be less than a lighter van with a single axle? He is doing the OP a favour with his big van I reckon.

(At no point is there 5000kg on the cable obviously)
Actually if the load were evenly spread almost exactly the same as 3500 over two axles

If I was concerned about it (which I'm not) then I wouldn't put it where others could drive over it in the first place, if there was no alternative then I'd ensure I had a couple of cable covers for such occasions, the ones that look like rubber sleeping policemen, to go over where tyres would make contact.

I don't see the issue to be honest as the weight wouldn't be anything like 5000kg at any time, more like 1500kg max if heavier on the rear.

Th racecourse site is just a mohoosive tarmac car park (albeit a £45 car park) so surely anything goes?

I reckon he'd have done the OP a favour by being more considerate in the first place
The Carthago had a car on the back A frame or trailer? don't know, would it reverse? could he reverse? would he need to reverse to avoid the cable over the road? don't know, but I would only lay a cable over a road if I was prepared for it to be driven over as that is what roads tend to be used for.

£27 for the coronation 🙃 they must be struggling to fill it :roflmto:

I wouldnt personally drive over someone elses stuff without a thought . ....not even a hosepipe

Running over a cable on grass is OK, Tarmac will be OK (maybe), gravel will likely damage it.
Depends on the cable. If you have one of the tough orange ones, no problems mostly. If it is an arctic blue cable it may well damage it.
I never use my blue cable when across tarmac/concrete or anything else hard.

My orange cable has had tractors run across it on tarmac shavings and survived. Probably should replace that one now as it 18 years old :)

Drive over our hook up cable most days for one reason or another - they are far more robust than they look.
That is not the point. If it is a really hot day, the plastic will soften in the heat and potentially result in real damage if run over by large vehicle tyres.

I wouldn't expect any type of cable to be driven over anywhere unless it was protected. If you did it on an industrial site you'd be hospitalised.

Several years ago we were parked on gravel at Gorinchem Marina. There must have been 8 Morellos driven by a group of touring Belgians who drove over my cable: it's still functioning perfectly. ;)

I've been on that site but we reversed onto a pitch that had a wall at the back.

When we were there people were asked to respect the avenues and not cut through pitch lines which I think may have happened in this case.

fleurette I hope your treatment is going well and your make a good recovery.

Either way, sounds like the campsite in Cheltenham is a barrel of laughs!!!! 😜

Presumably the wheel rims were fitted with tyres so the tyre would deform as it went over the cable and the actual pressure would be a lot less than the weight of the axle.
I am not clever enough to work it out but I know the principle to be true. It took and awful lot of convincing before I would put my foot under the track of a low ground pressure Caterpillar bulldozer but sure enough it did nothing and that’s a lot heavier than a motorhome.

Thank you for your concern over treatment, been a long 2 years but it's worth the end result 🤞

I think we should have a straw pole on this, especially being a Carthago Owner albeit a light weight one.
I am guessing that 90% of people would drive over any EHU cable or indeed hosepipe if they were run over a roadway access on any camp site?
If the owner of the cable/hosepipe was that concerned about them being damaged, then it should either be removed, or an allowance be made that it will be driven over if left out.
As far as being accused of arrogance/negligence even, it would be me that complained to the cable owner for not moving it or making allowance for me and others to have road access.

If I lay out a hose to fill my camper, I assume that it could be driven over, unless it was inside the dimensions of my pitch

If someone deliberately 'parked on to be a knob, I would say something alongto the line of "it must be accidental, because you'd have to be a complete "C46t" to do it deliberately"

Sometimes saying the right thing in the first place stops you getting het up at the response, if your delicate enough to worry about such things.
