Noisy dogs

Seriously though, some owners don't know the real dog in their house. We have had two adjacent neighbours with dogs that barked non stop when the owners were out at work. Both owners were supprised when I told them as they believed that they hardly ever barked.

This thread is like a Brexit thread. It’s always going to be decisive where people get protective - on this occasion between dog owners/lovers and non dog owners.
If most people read the original thread before posting, the OP does mention if the dog owner gives some training, the dog may not be as anti social. I don’t suspect that they’re expecting dogs not to bark, but consistent barking should be addressed by the owner.
I’d address my child kicking a football against or near someone else’s van. I think it’s just common courtesy.
Those that post asking why people buy a motorhome and what do they expect when they go on a site? - what sort of post is that?
I didn’t buy my Motorhome thinking, ok, I’m buying my second most expensive purchase in my lifetime but wait a minute, barking dogs will spoil my usage so I won’t bother buying it.
( BTW I’m not anti-dogs)

Here is a list of sites that do not allow dogs.

We all have choices, I do have a lot of sympathy for those people who do not like dogs, also I agree that dogs that persistently bark are a nuisance. All the arguments I see also apply to noisy kids, camping/caravanning used to be an economic alternative to hotels (both in the UK and abroad). Now that people with a lot more money and decide to buy Motorhomes seem to want to displace families and people on much lower incomes. I see this attitude a lot on this site, many referrals to Northerners, unruly kids, "traveler" types etc. Why not just get back to your 5 star hotels etc. Even comments like "I have never used my toilet" show an attitude that is not of the ordinary camper. I do wonder why you do it...... The caravan club was started for more affluent people back in 1907, but the CCC was started with more humble aspirations , to get people back to nature.

Julia Bradbury, current Club President

I have always been a keen advocate of the outdoor lifestyle ever since my dad took me out walking into the Peak District after school and at weekends, and camping and caravanning is a priceless chance to get closer to nature and back in touch with who you really are.”

No mention of clean toilets, perfectly manicured green bits etc

In other words "get a life"

I think it’s about manners & consideration for other people on both sides. We try to keep our dog quiet, we try to close our door quietly, we try to keep our voices down when sit outside our van having drinks with friends, & we don’t have our tv connected to a sound bar or routed through the van speakers so it acts like a sort of sound box for my husbands war films! We TRY to do all of these things, & sometimes succeed with some of them! Mostly other people are quiet, but sometimes they’re not! Stop complaining unless you are perfect yourselves! 😂😂

For all of those moaning about barking dogs I would advise not to visit Spain or Portugal then as I can’t remember anywhere without barking dogs especially at night😬😉

Couldn't make this story up..

I fully expected jerremy beadle to jump out with a camera.

So, after Chester and a night in Somerset I've arrived in Perranporth at a fully dancing haven site.
Coming here and having been with my own kids 10 or so years ago I fully expected with the time of year that the site would be inundated with all things kids and all things dogs.. but I love the area and its good for some hilly ironman training so we booked it.

So I arrived and lovely greeting and a man in one of those golf buggy things said follow me to your pitch.

I followed him to our pitch and he stopped to talk to me...

Just as he did a rather irate bloke came stomping over and said to me.. "You don't want to stay here mate, bloody dogs over there won't stop bloody yapping"
Said to the Marshall, "who do I complain to? I want my money back".

Now, it transpires, that the site had been infiltrated by members of the travelling community who had literally unloaded kennels from their roof fixing open top transit pickups and simply tied the dogs up to bark at each other whilst they all went out all day and night... the RSPCA are/were not interested as they were with water and shelter..

Anyhow turns out they done something else which was no good and have been packed off and gone.. so can't comment on the individuals 🙄 as I wasn't hear long enough to make judgement...

But i think with the short spell they and I were hear, my perception would have changed faced with this, and I probably would have not gone and addressed the issue with them..
But when the guy came over on my arrival with his comment I truly thought it was a funster having a bubble..

Ha ha..

Take it easy everyone.

One of the great things about dogs on sites is that they can help break ice and get neighbours talking. We've met some lovely people and made friendships as a result (y)
When we arrived at one of the Aires the first thing Lily did was poo in full sight of the next door Brit van, fortunately they were very understanding when we told them about her problem and that it'd been over a day since she'd last pooed so we were very relieved she had done it before she burst!

I'll just start with I've got a Chihuahua. It does not bark, it can but does not choose to. Why do I feel guilty if we walk past a dog that starts yapping?
I've got a Chisel (Chihuahua/Jack Russell) so it must be the JR in her that makes her bark occasionally. 😊

Can you come and educate some of the Spanish parents please who not only think it's okay to do this but actually join in with their kids! 🤬. We had this happen last night despite our being in a large parking area with loads of space as very few MHs in it but no, the pillock from next to us was kicking and doing 'keepy-upsies' right next to our MH with his daughter, after the 3rd near miss we told them to go play elsewhere, ideally in the football pitch a short distance away, they couldn't be bothered to go there so reluctantly went to the other side of the car park for a while.

Well done for sticking with your lovely dog and giving him a great life. We are in a similar position with a rescue Staffie from Battersea, she is great with us, ignores people, but is so reactive to other dogs. We walk her in places where we are unlikely to encounter other dogs & are always on the lookout for others. So long as there is distance between her & the other dog she is OK, if they come up to her all hell breaks loose, this used to really upset me, but if my dog is on a lead & other owners have no recall it’s hardly my fault. We distract her in the van if another dog is going by. We have spent £1000s on a behaviourist, not realily worked, I think her issues and anxiety are so deep rooted they are never going to go away.
I have no intensions of giving up on either dog.
we also try to pick areas and times where other dogs are not around.
patch is well known in the area we go out the same time and the same route everyday,

a lot of people do also know our route and time when were out and so also try to save him the stress.

we also have paid out thousands to so called professional dog trainers. That gave up turned up there shirt collars
and then stopped answering the phone. And they were not cheap either .
so one that’s says the have all the answered are talking out off their back sides.

4 and a half years of paying top cash no help your best off telling anyone who complains while on the street to take a running jump they soon back down.

Oh aren't you lucky one, Mr Perfect. Try doing that to a rescue that only ever knew being beaten with sticks and lead head, only seen the two people who hit him and thinking that is all anyone wants to do is be cruel to them, afraid of every dog because he was the runt of the pack and not even allowed to eat out of a bowl. That is the dog we rescued from the animal rescue, and proud to have done so
For the many members who know our Benji they will know the work we have put into him, though there are a few things that can never be put right like butting his bowl now and then to try to knock food out, warning off dogs that think they can bully him. Then again, you will know that won't you
Try being a bit tolerant with people who work hard to keep their digs quiet, not tar everyone with the same brush
Rant over.
I went back and re-read my post. I don't think there is anything I said there that wasn't a statement of fact, and that applies in general. I applauded and respect what you have done to help your unfortunate dog, but I am taken aback by the way you have taken what I have written as directed at you, and to respond in such a personal and abusive way.

I’d gladly come and deal with them Minxy if you’re in Spain - I’ll collect the air ticket from the airport if you send me the booking reference 🤣
