Just reading a thread about a Liner for 2 here......

Its pushing 3 years old.

Where do this prices come from ?

2004 We bought a Eura Mobil 3 years old for £29,000

In 2009 we bought a 17 month Old Bespoke built 8m Frankia A Class. Mercedes Chassis and V6 3 litre Engine.

It was £59,950 and they even took my old Eura Mobil in part X for £28,500. So I chipped in the other £31k.

In 2013, we traded the Frankia in, £48,500 for a Brand New, but 3 year old build La Strada Nova for £60,000. So we paid £11,500 on top.

We sold that La Strada for £60,000 almost years later in 2016. It had a 3 litre V6 Engine with Auto Gearbox

At the Dusseldorf show, we went to the La Strada Stand. The latest La Strada Nova now starts at a whopping €170,000 with basic spec.

Madness.

I wish my earnings had gone up at that rate !

Are you all winning the Lotto ?

Will other costs eventually affect the market? For example I worked out it now costs about £ 1200 per year just to keep it on the drive. £500 insurance, £165 road tax, £250 Hab check, £135 tracker subscription, £150 servicing. Those costs will just keep increasing.
£1200.00 will just about buy you a weekend away for two

Here is another example, going back to my EuraMobil Purchase at £29,000 (recently re-sold 19 years later needing TLC for £24,000).

So that Eura Mobil at £29,000, 3 years old, 8,000 miles. Lets say, as they say in the trade I "nicked it" (got it super cheap)
And lets say at a dealers, it should have been £45,000

I have seen a similar 2007 Specifcaiton/Price when new Model Second hand Motorhome, 2007, so 17 years old. Its up for sale at £38,000 !

I too prefer the Moho probably for the same reasons you do, despite those costs. My post was purely to make the point that after the original purchase, the annual costs of just keeping, not using, a Moho are increasing. We’ve seen a massive hike in Insurance costs this last 12 months and they are likely to go even higher for everyone especially after the recent storms /floods. At some point the government will hike the VEL rates for non electric vehicles and duty on diesel will increase as the push for EVs gets stronger. I do 8000 miles a year so a breakdown of that £1200 equates to 15p per mile, not too bad. For anyone doing 2000 miles a year though that would be 60p per mile. If anyone does less than that ???
As essential costs increase some, not all, may be deterred from owning a Moho. If demand drops so will the prices of motorhomes.

I wasn’t being critical of your post, just saying about other costs people forget about when flying somewhere.
I think Heathrow return is about £180 plus these days for us for a taxi.

I’m sure some clever bugger will find another way of powering diesel vehicles and getting around the issues with modern diesel pumps.
Or possibly changing the pumps to run on chip oil 😊

You have forgotten to add £20k of options you wouldn't buy it without & the one for sale had a lot more.
Even the cheap little Compactline we have on order has £17k of options on it & I'll be spending at least another £12k on it, probably more.
Last of the big spenders 😬

I’m not sure what you are saying but your £29k 19 years ago (2005) would be worth £49k now. On that basis £38k for a 17 year old van looks pricey
