Hello

Last week we collected our new to us 2005 Ci Cipro Garage Motorhome

As we drove it home the passenger side electric window & mirror stopped working as well as one of the rear indicator.

On the next day I also noticed that the main roof skylight was cracked & a corner missing.

So we contacted the dealer who agreed for us to take it to our local Motorhome repairer to get a quote & hopefully fix all the faults/issues (under the 3 months warranty).

They were happy with the quote provided to repair the window/mirror & indicator but didn’t accept the £900 quote to replace the heki 700x500 skylight.

The garage alighted that the high quote was due to the fact that there’s al lot labouring involved to remove the current one as it’s sealed & then found the entire roof it’s been painted with something they even weren’t sure of what it is exactly (see photos)

The garage has made me worry so much as they stated that it looks like something that is used to repair cracked shower tray & baths and if that’s the case it could be there to mask something underneath 😩😩

Plus they also alighted (I didn’t notice this ) the fact the rear panel it’s swallowed in one area. Not sure what caused this either.

THEIR ADVICE WAS, SINCE I ONLY HAD IT FOR A WWEK TO TAKE IT BACK AND ASKED FOR A FULL REFUND .

Now we knew buying a 18 year Motorhome wouldn’t come in pristine conditions and it would have its own little problems etc but as this is our first van we didn’t really know either what to look out for. That’s why we decided to buy from a dealer rather then private.

Just need some advice from you more expert Motorhome owners.

  • Does anyone know what the material used on the roof and why could it be applied ?
  • the back panel, what caused this ?

ALL IN ALL WHAT WOULD YOU DO ?

Did you pay any part of the purchase price by credit card? If so, and you decide you want a refund, you could ask the credit card company to issue a Section 75 refund. They have a legal liability to help if there's a problem.

I was ensured the damp ply was removed & repaired as it should. The back wall used initially was white, after the repair it’s been changed to wood effect one so I believe the did actuality remove & replace 🤷‍♂️
Or just stuck a sheet over it to mask it🤷🏻‍♂️

If it was me i would get the refund. There are more vans out there.
I also agree £900 quote for the skylight is

Not wishing to add to the negative list, but that solar panel looks to be only fixed with the corner plastic blocks. They are renowned for letting go when used as the only fixing point. Ideally, it needs some ally angle as well, but bonding that to roof now will be a pain.
The roof vent can possibly be got around by buying one exactly the same, but just swapping the top new top plastic cover for the old damaged one by removing the hinge pins.
Good luck, but on balance were it mine it would be back with the dealer by Mon morning 🤷‍♂️

I think they said first time buyers and they don’t know much though.
First time you can miss a lot of things which is I presume why they bought from a dealer and not private, thinking it was a much safer bet.
To me that’s not a good deal from a reputable dealer for 27.5 for a 2005 budget model van.
It should have been in much better nick.
Yeah but let's face it most dealers try to sell for top dollar. There's some real crap out there.

Well that's what Brownhills had done with mine. But without removing the panel there's no way of knowing.

Problem is if the buyer viewed it , and knew it had leaked and been repaired and still bought.

If I'd viewed that I'd never have bought it. Probably many others viewed it and never bought it.

Be interesting to see the outcome

If you can't get a refund look at other vans they have - to swap - more likely to help if they still have a 'sale'

..........and find another motorhomer to go with you who can point out what to look for(y)

No unfortunately they won’t accept credit card - I did try to leave a deposit with it

Yes that’s the dealer. How did they get their reviews though all 5 stars?
Well from the look of their stock they sell a lot of damaged or repaired motorhomes. You won't be the first to have bought one and then had second thoughts.

That's probably why they don't accept credit cards either.

They buy them. Never believe any reviews, on any site, including the likes of Trustpilot!

Good luck with it but I suspect you'll have a fight on your hands to get a refund on it. And I'd be wary of exchanging it with them without having someone experienced with you to check the exchange van.

But I suspect their going to state the motorhome is sold as seen as your complaints at present are mostly cosmetic which you must have seen when you viewed it surely.

Agreed.
Unfortunately the OP should have checked the van thoroughly before paying. He's paid the price of a tip top condition van but the van is actually in poor condition.
I also can't see him getting a refund.

It is possible that the dealer may see this thread - it's 'open' to all

Personally I would try and get a better deal with them, they must have a better van.

The bit I'm curious about is that van was advertised at £24,995. So why has the op paid £27k

Not sure what layout/size etc but depending on condition, service history etc etc I’d be asking to swap it for that IH Oregon pvc they have for £24,999.00.

Much less chance of damp problems.

It's unfortunately true though.

If the vans are there to be viewed in person it's up to the buyer to satisfy themselves with the condition.

I get that. I just don't agree with kicking someone when they're down. I think this member is feeling bad enough already, that's all :)

Yeah we are going towards that decision too. Shame cause we loved it and it fitted all our needs too. The company it’s quite a big company too with 3 branches and all have good reviews m. We dealt with the Mansfield branch and again all 5 starts reviews on Google. Why would they sell something like that no idea
Which dealer is that in Mansfield, if I may ask please.
Ignore that. Saw later in a further post.
I live near Mansfield and I have never heard of them.
I have had our van for over 5 years, and spent 2 years searching before that, and am looking to change our van so am constantly looking.
And still, I have never seen or heard of them, as a local.
