National Trust Parking

Stopped in the car park of Uppark House, Petersfield, West Sussex on the way back fro the Newbury Show. Free parking, could be a bit tight for larger vans but ample room and access for our PVC

Added to the map with a yellow marker as access for larger vehicles not confirmed
I've parked there several times with 8.25m vans (I'm not a member of NT). Access is easy but parking can be a bit restricted. In quiet times there is space to park freely, but when busy it could be more difficult. I have previously been directed by the attendants to larger spaces, which might be coach areas (although I can't recall ever seeing coaches there).

There is also room to park pretty much anything on the road from Studland village to the chain ferry, then walk through the heath to the beach. There is no overnighting allowed there, though.

Morning all. Brilliant map facility Ceejayt. Thanks. Small point - Play Newydd - 95 is on Anglesey, not Llangollen where u have it showing!
regards,

Rob

Pląs Newydd sorry. Anyone managed to park at Berrington Hall (south of Ludlow) or Dolocauthi Gold mines please? Welsh Wales!

There are two NT carparks in Formby.
One with rising barrier on the extension of Victoria rd, usually very busy and one at the end of Lifeboat rd, much quieter.
That one has a 2.5m fixed height barrier but there is field set aside for larger vehicles

We’re members. We’ve just spent 10 days in Norfolk which is one of the best counties for NT membership. We love Morston Quay, where we park for the day and get the chairs out. You can find a quiet spot there even on a busy day. We also like Blakeney, again we get the chairs out and watch the tide and the seabirds.

Felbrigg and Blickling are well worth a visit, just for the beautiful walled gardens they have. There is also Sheringham gardens, where we get the bikes out to see the extensive grounds.

NT always go out of their way to welcome motorhomes, in our experience.

Do your research welll in advance as some of the sites are very tight for parking and others down very narrow lanes.

National Trust website lists all locations and details for parking.

We have a 7.4m and usually get in most places, but I do research first, including google street map for the routes in, especially around Cornwall for low bridges that their website wouldn't mention.

Good luck and have fun visiting.
We are members of both The National Trust and English Heritage. I echo the above comments. Google maps with street view first and a phone call to confirm has meant that we have always been able to get in with our 8m motorhome.

Sorry forgot to add Raby Castle near Barnard Castle, good day out castle and grounds, plenty of fully accessible parking and space, if paying for your visit, but no overnighting, (we did ask)

Noted thanks. Will update the map

If you are thinking of joining, this may save you a few pence,

Buying the Scotch national Trust membership, its cheaper, (£87 for two for 60 years old compared to the English National Trust cost of £120 for two), and allows you full access to the English national trust sites.

How much is National Trust membership for seniors?

For loyal members, over the age of 60, you can get reduced-cost membership. By loyal, they mean that you have had a membership for at least five of the last 10 years.

Instead of paying full price, you can request a concession to reduce the fee by 25%.

You don’t automatically quality for 25% off senior membership. If you want or need the discount, you need to call 0344 800 1895.

So £120 is reduced to £90 for joint senior membership.

Had a word with the NT and they refuse to move Plas Newydd to Llangollen so I have updated the map instead :giggle: Should be in the right place now !

Have just looked at the map and notice that there is nothing for the Lake District. Parking day and overnight is allowed at the Aira Force car park, Ullswater. Daytime free for members, overnight £10, members and non members. There are toilets.
l think there are other NT car parks in the Lakes where overnight parking is allowed. Has anyone any info on them?

Thanks - I also just need to know whether they are (or are not) suitable for larger motorhomes so I can pin them correctly.

Also short of sites in Scotland if anyone has any they wish to add. Would help me if you check they are not on the map already.

The map is HERE

The one at Aira Force probably not suitable for 7m+.

If thinking of joining check out joining the Scotland National trust same benefits you can use in England/Wales but joining Scotland is cheaper or at least was, so
look into it first, N.Zealand used to be even cheaper.
Malta is the cheapest... but they may have closed that loophole...
Still good for existing members :sneaky:

If you only want parking (and it can be costly, they seem to charge extra for motor caravans), you could just have one person's membership, not both of you. Personally, can't be done with the houses, mostly built by exploiting the working classes or slaves.

Never been a member but we are considering joining.
I know there is an ongoing discussion with CAMpRA regarding overnighting but what is the parking generally like for motorhomers.
Pointless joining if we wont be able to get in the car parks.
6.7 m motorhome.
Thanks in advance.
Graham
if you want to join NT.honestly consider joining the SCOTTISH NT,we have been a member for years, same benefits except you dont get the british handbook, but can buy them on E BAY £2,and you dont have to live in scotland to join, now the best part it,s half the price .

Stopped at both when they were free , Wheel now £15 (there are services) Kelpies £5 and expect plenty of activities from the local so called boy racers.
Kelpies was fine for racers , none at all, had one guy sat in his car with woofers going full blast, asked him to move away from MoHos and he did, though my suggestion that I might ‘remove his wheels and tyres and wrap them around his neck’ may have had something to do with it 😜😙😙😙😙😙😙😙😙

Kingston Lacy National Trust, Dorset - excellent motorhome parking right next to the admission kiosk!

Impressive house and gardens too! We were there this morning. :giggle:
