National Trust Parking

Have never had a problem parking our 8.3 mtr TAG at any NT property,
Just ask and if necessary they will direct you to the coach parking area,
Joe
I have had a couple of absolute nightmares at 9m. Very steep hill with narrow roads. Burnt a clutch at one site so there are some with problems

Oops! where was that please, must avoid that one,
Jpoe

Trying hard to remember and wish I could. It was down South not too far from Harry Pitter world. Was there or more years ago.
Very narrow entrance and big mistake to turn in

Never been a member but we are considering joining.
I know there is an ongoing discussion with CAMpRA regarding overnighting but what is the parking generally like for motorhomers.
Pointless joining if we wont be able to get in the car parks.
6.7 m motorhome.
Thanks in advance.
Graham
Just cancelled my membership, and i told them in no uncertain terms the reason for leaving !..When they reverse the 'woke' mentality and re-employ the hundreds of valuable voulenteers that they have 'dumped' over the last year, reversed all the House Name changes due to historic associations...etc, etc....
As far as i know, there are NO overnight parking facilities at any of their car-parks,...and Definatly no welcome for MH Owners !
Historic England is now My Favourite Charity,...AND They allow overnight parking at many of their Sites

Have cancelled my membership.... NT have even stopped flying the National Flag in case it offends somebody....imagine visiting a Thai Temple, or shrine and being 'Offended' because their nation flag was flying over the site !

2 more i have just thought of / remembered from 2019:
Both in Scotland:
Falkirk Wheel
Kelpies, ( needs to be seen at night as well)
Both are a great day out, and both allow over-nighting in their car parks., if you just ask :giggle:
Both these on the map already but thanks for passing them on.

We went to Stourhead CL (CMC) a couple of weeks ago. We stayed for 3 nights at a cost of £63 - hard standing with EHU and two adults.
We are NT members as well. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to wander around the estate after closing time when it wasn’t busy. It was very peaceful and would definitely go again.

There was plenty of room for large Motorhomes in the car parks as well
Stourhead is on the map, thanks

If you have some specific Historic England sites where larger motorhomes can easily park (whether or not you can spend the night) then i would be happy to start adding them to the map. I had a look at the Historic England site but not easy to make out what happens where.

Stopped at both when they were free , Wheel now £15 (there are services) Kelpies £5 and expect plenty of activities from the local so called boy racers.

I could not find the cost of joining ☹️

Studland (Knoll beach), Dorset. If you are not a member there is a more expensive price for MH parking. I checked and it is still free for members.
I got life membership for my 21st birthday (£75 then) which has been the best present ever.

Do you mean Historic England or English Heritage?

As someone else said earlier I found the website a bit confusing initially but on a further look I found it quite interesting as I realised our old property would be on there.

Our house/business which we sold in 2003 was listed in 1987, 3 years after we bought it and led to all sorts of problems with Borough Planning and Conservation when we carried out extensions to the place. It was Georgian with a clay tile roof and a Victorian slate roof addition at the back when we bought it.

We had already clad the internal panelling in various rooms for class o fire rating before listing but they took a keen interest when we partly demolished an old coach house for a further extension. We had already ordered the truss roof and concrete tiles which set their alarm bells ringing and demands for a purpose made roof with clay tiles. We compromised with a truss and clay tiles in the end. Replacement windows where old sashes were beyond repair had to be hand crafted on site and a new roof replaced with a mix of clay and slate where appropriate. It ended up a combo of Georgian, Victorian and Elizabethan (11).

2 more to add to the list,

High Force waterfall / hotel car park in Teesdale, overnight allowed and plenty of parking, also a great day out.

Stump Cross Caverns, Pateley Bridge, £5 for overnight if visiting caverns or spending in shop/ cafe, plenty of parking, and a worthwhile visit.

Have just stayed at both,

We would still stay at both again, not afraid to pay our way
What i should have said was i stopped at both before the masses descended on Scotland. The reply was to inform people of the cost and the problems with idiots wheel spinning round the car parks at the Kelpies that has been going on for years,. "I also pay my way" and as member of Caravan and Camping club use their holiday sites, also a paid up member of National Trust and English heritage and use both. Personal choice but i prefer Europe over an overcrowded Scotland so wouldn't stop there again.

Not currently on the map - is it OK for larger motorhomes to approach and park?

But it doesn't at their pay & display sites... as the NTS card doesn't have the necessary barcode.

Anyway neither the tread title, nor the OP mention NTS.

So my post remains valid.

.
Our latest Scottish NT cards have barcodes
Speaking to a Trust worker last week at Acorn Bank gardens , Penrith the barcodes on Scottish membership cards will become scannable very shortly at English NT sites

My comment about "paying our way" was not aimed at you, but the ever increasing numbers who seem to think that owning a MH means that they can pitch up anywhere they feel for free, and get most offended when they cannot or are asked to move on

Added to the map with a yellow marker as access for larger vehicles not confirmed

Have just stayed at both,
The above two, although not NT or Heritage added as they do provide access for larger vehicles and bonus of an overnight stop

Latest version of the map now with 121 pins can be found AT THIS LINK

Please provide details for any other sites which have adequate parking for larger vehicles and ALSO any that do not! Better not to try and get into somewhere in the first place

I will be happy to add any suggestions to the map (it would also help if you checked they weren't already on the map - there is a complete alphabetical list on the map)
