My trip just got worse , bike trashed , keys stolen and I have been attacked

Its all got worse and im feeling completely broken

All was going well got to Bordeaux , traffic awful ,,
Booked a site on the Dunes at Biscarosse , but before that a detour directed me into Biganos a tiny little place with some unpaved roads ,I was directed under a low bridge by the cops and a warning sign damaged my solar panel and then the trailer hit a bump ,? and 2 of the cargo straps broke , and the ducati fell off . now im blocking the road , The police are shouting , but then 2 nice locals come and help me move the bike and van to a safe place .. But a car full of young arabs appears and they chuck a rock and I get hit , one of them grabs my keys and hits me again as he tries to get in the van ,I hit him with a spanner . and then they drive of laughing ..but with my keys

Im in a bad state , advised to go to hospital , but im not leaving the van , police have now disspeared, ? the 2 locals help me resecure the bike to the trailer , and it now has 4 heavy duty 50mm straps instead of the30mm ones , but the trailer is not good , I have worries about it now I think its bent and the securing points are sharp and can damage the cargo straps ,even the metal hooks have been damaged one snapped , The bike is a sorry state ,, the lost keys a re a bigger problem , , now I have no keys for the bike ,, I do have spares for the van ..I got to the site last night in the forest by the dunes ,, I have applied a bandage to the head wound ...and will head to local hospital

went to the gendarmarie 20 mins ago, police know about the incident ,,but I dont think anything will happen

I really have come to the end of the line,, I just trying to summon up some energy to start returning home ,, this holiday has been a disaster , no bike , no faith in the trailer , i feel crushed ...may be I should go home and give up on Motorhoming

You really don't have any luck, from the previous posts of yours I've read here you appear to be a magnet for unfortunate incidents.
Hopefully things will change for you soon, don't despair maybe you'll find your silver lined cloud.

Ok everybody, Jerry has just called me. So everything should go smoother. He's going to rest a bit and try to recover emotionally. Anything needed, he knows he can call me anytime!

I personally think jerryz you should try buddying up with a Funster at least until you get settled, I personally would have no problem meeting between places we are travelling through I do have a trip to Mercia planned in a couple of weeks no date of yet. Take a breather sort your trailer out and continue it can only get better from here.

jerryz I live about 2 - 3 hours from Bordeaux, just off the main route N20 from Limoges to Perigueux. I could possible come and meet up with you and trailer your bike and trailer back to my house until you decide what you want to do. I may be travelling to the UK within the next couple of weeks so further arrangements could be discussed. However, the timing for that very much depends on some hospital treatment my wife is currently undergoing.

So sorry to hear of your predicament.. easy to say but try and stay positive.. there are so many helpful people on here … it’ll get better 🤞🏼
I’m a believer in karma too so the scum bags will surely get what they deserve sooner or later

Could not go anywhere today its saturday and most shops I need not open until next week ,,,went for paddle,, the atlantic is cold ,, walked in the forest , took some busted bits off the bike ,, and removed the ignition lock so I can take it and see if someone can make a key ,,Bike has 3 locks fuel, seat and ignition but all work off one key so thats a plan see if locksmith can do that... may go and trade in this crappy trailer for a lovely sold big wheeled French one ?????? now having a few drinks and playing some good classical chopin and metal music .

I can pretty much guarantee that if you did this and found it didn’t particularly fit your need you would have no problem selling it on in the U.K. they are night and day in quality. I cannot believe there isn’t a U.K. distributor.

I trust you have had your head looked at and are now starting to get a few positive thoughts back into your mind, many on here wishing you well.

So sorry to hear of your problems Jerryz, what a nightmare. The upside is that while there are a***holes out there, you know also there are wonderful people like Yodeli and the others nearby who have offered help. This is worth so much. Here is a poem by Walt Whitman written in the mid 19th century that always inspires me if things are going wrong:

Hi there Jerryz,
Really sorry to read of your experience, but don't give up, salvage what you can of the rest of your holiday, this experience will only serve to put you more on your guard you will find that you will be too aware in future to get another experience like this, there are some real scumbags in this world but they're outnumbered by decent folk, you might even meet up with some ther Funsters down there who can help you, try and Enjoy the rest of your trip, never give up, but get that head wound seen to ASAP.

Dont give up , you can beat this., shocked that the Police were there and done nothing.
Just pick yourself up dust yourself down and carry on, YOU HAVE GOT THIS

Just one thing to add, having virtually lived in France for 8 years.
One big difference from the UK is that French trailers have to be separately registered.
They have their own number plates and even their own MOTs (contrôle technique).
That means they are usually very solidly constructed, but also complicates buying one out there.
Maybe visit a large branch of Norauto as they are everywhere and usually have a big stock.

Not quite correct, up to 500Kgs they utilise the towing vehicles number plate and are covered by the towing vehicles insurance.
Over that they must be registered and insured separately, just to add it is illegal to tow a UK plated trailer with a French registered vehicle.
