My garage build

A final few photos.......

Finally got garage finished last September (was supposed to be June!).

The floor was damaged by rain and had to be ground down with floor grinder, then finished off with a self levelling compound which also didn’t work so that was ground off as well.

Didn't want to paint floor and there was various other options such as resin etc but
I eventually went for........a polished surface, which I then sealed with a clear hardener. Result below:

So far it’s been easy to keep clean and any spills have been wiped clean without issue......expect over time it will get it’s share of oil stains but that’s why it was built!

Finally....got to put motorhome in.....

Ground outside levelled off and chipped.

Still got bits to do inside and I’ve not rushed it as I’m still finding out how best to use the space. I’ve put in a few electrical sockets and lights in the interim and now slowly finding the places where I want to do things eg welder is going into a corner, made a mobile workbench so I can move it about, put in some shelves, figuring out where I need lights for working, need to get some cabinets etc etc.

Motorhome is easy to walk around, plugged in for batteries, tap for filling up before we go....brill.

Next project is too renovate our old Isuzu Trooper! Took her to garage today for a ‘pre’ MOT.......chassis all solid but various bushes, pipes etc need replaced so it’s going to get a wee bit of pampering which should give it another few years on the road.

Glad we went for it!

Wonderful, that garage/workshop is on another level, would love it myself, congratulations on a terrific project.

Watch out when it gets wet , I worked for a international company they wanted more storage space so constructed a new loading bay in front of the previous one, went work very quickly they were finishing the floor and asked the warehouse manager how he wanted it finished he sail smooth so sanded overa week every thing was great until the first rain then disaster fork trucks couldn’t stop and with a load on the front couldn’t steer. They had to coat the floor with non slip coating

Will watch out for that....fortunately shouldn’t get very wet and vehicle movement very light but I know what you mean....!

When I had the aircraft hangar built for my aviation business the contractors were extremely proud of how the floor had come out, it looked lovely. But of course when it rained and wet aircraft came in..................
So we decided it would need a non-slip paint covering. After three months it was all peeling off so we got the paint manufacturer in - the original floor was TOO smooth and the paint wouldn't adhere properly. It all had to come off, the floor slightly roughened and repainted - was a BIG and expensive job!
But over 25 years later (so I am told - I sold out 20 years ago) the floor has not needed any more attention.
