My garage build

Should have Ian the builder on site. Would have been finished now, if he had no mishaps!!

Brickies been on hols apparently....... Hoping we can get cracked on now. No first floor beer room unfortunately but am going to put in a two post lift instead.....

Whole squad of builders on site today....trying to catch up!

Brickies are almost up to wall plate height for motorhome garage....mortar setting ready fir lintels to go up tmow. Steel’s in place for wall between garage and workshop.....they were a bit heavy!

First truss up and brickies laying in lead soakers for roof junction.

Getting there but weather has not been great........supposed to be finished before end of month but not holding my breath!

Bit more progress.......lintels in above motorhome garage door.......centre wall between garage and workshop built up on top of steel beams and lead soakers going in for where roof meets wall.

Next week the scaffolders back to move scaffolding about, roof trusses going up and brickies back to finish gables....at least that’s what’s planned!

Nice job and looking good. Would love to get our van under cover very envious

Very nice and professional job. are you project managing it yourself

Thought about project managing it but decided to go with main contractor at the end. It’s allowed us to get on with other things and get away and actually get some time in the motorhome!

It’s just under 90sq m, twin block wall and reinforced concrete floor, two electric roller doors which are a bit extra cost wise due to size, includes connection to electricity, water and drainage, had to dig out and build retaining wall as well but doesn’t include planning fees...just under £50k. Includes disposal of all earth from founds etc.

:Eeek: ... I could have bought a new camper for that!

Quality builds dont come cheap.

It’s not cheap and was big decision for us. Went big as we could afford and ensured if we ever get a bigger van we can still have room to upsize. Will outlast me anyway! If we want to convert to living accomodation everything is there ready to go. Got a number of quotes and all came in around same price.

Yes agree like I said quality doesn't come cheap these days, I love it.

Enjoying the updates.
Your garage is looking amazing

Latest update after a few days away.....

Scaffolding taken down from internals and put up again outside.....wall plate on and roof trusses up.

Brickies should be back Monday to build up gable ends, joiners to board trusses by week end and hopefully roofers to start on 1 July.......getting there!

Thanks for the updates, still loving this thread!! :D2

Our neighbour applied for PP for a new build games building.... Multi-Gym downstairs and games rooms upstairs with kitchen and shower room.
Planning denied on grounds it could be used as self contained dwelling......planning dept ain't daft but he is thinking he'd get away with it.

No windows.....going for skylights instead....more secure and I wouldn’t have liked planning to think I might want to convert it at some point..... ...... gives more space for shelving/cupboards etc as well.

The trick is to put some hidden lintels in, makes adding them later much easier.
