sorry about this but can you refresh me on the starting and end dates for this please , as I don’t think it started in April and is it still running till September thanks.
Hi Snowbird whats the likelyhood of space on the aire for a few days around the 21st July? Will it be rammed with families taking their summer hols with the kids, not bothered about that just wondered about the space to park up
AC/DC Which site please.? We are heading that way in SeptWe have ferry tickets for September and so far not cancelled we tried to do this last year and every Stellplatz was full, we ended up in Trier on a massive riverside site ,,
Last time we had a day crossing from Harwich we headed a comfortable hour and half to the free aire at Grobbendonk, just east of Antwerp. It’s a great overnighter en route to somewhere else.We have ferry tickets for September and so far not cancelled we tried to do this last year and every Stellplatz was full, we ended up in Trier on a massive riverside site , it was fine and to be honest we enjoyed visiting Trier but the city was absolutely flattened by bombing so what you get is a facsimile of the town and the only thing that survived was one of the flak towers thats so strong they can't demolish it , Still worth a visit. Ferry crossing Harwich to the Hook 7,5 mtr van and dog return £208 early booking you can overnight on the sea front at Harwich or the Morrisons car Park just outside the Port( Avoid Sat Nights as local boy racers/idiots use it) or at the entrance to the terminal. Get a day crossing, a pair of headphones for the TV lounge or a good book, if traveling with an animal can go and visit/exercise, Of the ferry at the other end and set sat nav for Kamp Amerika in Gouda about 45 min drive from port, loads of parking and sometimes electric ( first come first on hook up. 18 at last count) 3 mins walk into centre of Gouda and some really good restaurants/pubs around the square , next morning off you go and in about 3 hours on the Rhine and saved a fortune. Now if I cant get on at Gouda due to English registered vans I only have myself to blame and there is a great vets as well on the return journey ( Bit pricey though £28 last time)
Everyone from the Rhine where it joined the Mossel to Trier they were rammed ! And not just with towels on the camping chairs! It was when they started the wine harvesting so could have been our fault but we had no ides as to when as the wine growers decide when. We even tried some off the beaten track on different sides of the river with no joy, as soon as one van moved off one moved on!AC/DC Which site please.? We are heading that way in Sept
Well, we are here in Reil after an uneventful trip apart fro a lot of rain on route. The stellplatz is quite busy but plenty of room. They are busy with renovations to the town hall with new toilets and a shower block, but I have no idea if it will be finished for this season. Also the village is busy cutting down some trees at the top of the stellplatz and the hard standing is taped off until early next week. The free wifi is not working at the moment, but I will find out more tomorrow regarding this. We are still able to get UK TV via satellite, but I have fallen out with Cora, so it is of little interest to me. Regulars on Reil will be pleased to know that our good friends Hanalore and Stef are still alive and well and they turned up late this afternoon. Not much else to report other than its warm 25 deg and dry. Same price as last year, 8 euros per night with 2 euros for 16 amp electric, if you stay 6 nights, the seventh is free.
Nice one,I thought you sold your Hymer, did you buy another one?

Hi snowbird, do you know if the Mosel region are still doing the wine party’s that move along the river as we were very lucky and stumbled upon 1 of these 2 years ago. We have a ferry booked in August and quite fancy germany again.
