Mosel Meet.

Hi very interested in September. Would be our first meet up with you experienced funsters! Will you post on this thread or a new one?

Hi, to keep things tidy I think its best to keep it all in this thread.

Trier is I think the oldest city in Germany. It is typically very clean and very historical. A lovely place to visit.
All pictures will go full size with one click if on a PC
This is the view from the bridge you walk across the Mosel to the Town centre. Masses of space with the option of metered electric but sometimes you may need a longer cable

Take a card from the machine to open the barrier. Keep this safe as you pay on leaving at another machine.

If you use any facilities including electric you charge it to your entry card

Pre charge your card for everything but the parking. The machine will calculate your balance on departure

I know this might sound a bit Off The Wall but with the variation in dates being put forward! Would something like a “Rolling Rally” be worth considering? Snowbirds Spellplatz reccomendation is brilliant and all attendees would Post on this Thread their intended Roll on the Rally date? Just a suggestion but there is a lot interest and it might be that there is always going to be a number of Funsters Rolling on and off the Rally throughout a number of Months/Weeks.

Just a Suggestion.

Not at all "Off the wall". I already posted that this would be a rolling meet with the dates and places we and others will be on along the way. This is to allow for anyone coming later, or wishing to jump on and off as the mood takes.

Yes and we will be coming South as you head North (y)

We will still be here in September and I was thinking of posting just which Stellplats we are on each week so that those that like doing there own thing can jump on and off the circus train :).
Please post which Stellplatz. The Moselle is on our radar for a September trip. Thanks.

Thats the problem. To many people know what some funsters are like. We are definitely best avoided :D2.

Unfortunately like most things in life, I have no idea where am going until I get there, but will post at the time. The only thing that we know at the present is that we will be starting the fiasco on or about 18/20 July on the Stellplatz in Triest, and then moving steadily towards Koblenz, ending up in Bingen on the Rhine for the Rhine in flames.
There are of course other firework displays on both rivers, with dates below.

Is the main date to aim for about the first weekend in Sept we are still working (part time ) and I need to book time off at least 6 weeks in advance. Were thinking of the Mosel soon as we really enjoyed Alsace a couple of years ago.

Can I just state one thing. This is not an organised meet as such. I will NOT be cooking bacon rolls or holding anyone's hand to the toilet. It will be good fun and an insight to the Stellplatz system for those that have not used it previously. As funsters en mass, there is always the chance of getting a discount on certain outings and things of this sort, but is not guaranteed. We will not be paying more than 10 Euros per night, and mostly less, but this does not include free beer.
Its just a way of funsters doing what they do best, having FUN.

In the interests of fun....this is the clearest list of wine festivals by location that I've found so far for those that are interested: https://www.weinfeste-in-deutschland.de/rheinland-pfalz.html

Edit: there's another site here: where you can search them by date.

We went to the Bernkastel wine festival last year and had fab time (which is why we're going back again) - the whole town centre was closed off for food and wine stalls and music performances and the fireworks on the Saturday night were spectacular.

Glad to hear that especially the bit about not holding my hand in the toilet (or anything else). I think it sounds a good way to organise things no list to worry about just spread over a larger area if there are a lot of funsters.

Think we may be parked in the adjacent park!
We’re in the wine producers as opposed to the Mosel Beach cafe, currently enjoying a thunderstorm.

We’ll pop and say hello when it stops. What van you got? We’re on the front row in a Carthago; number plate as user name.

Cheers

Mike & Sue

Hot and sunny here in Reil, cooling down a bit thank god.

Heading for the Mosel, tunnel 7 Aug ,so watching with interest.

Hi
We're on the second 2 row in an N&B, we'll be walking the dog along the river as soon as it stops raining (if it does!) so we'll give you a wave :hi:

Clouded over now, but still humid and dry, so far!!!
Just a bit down from the Snowbirds.

I had a good ole Rundfahrt after our BBQ tonight.

all gone a bit quiet , everyone left the Valley ?

We have moved on now, slowly heading towards Dieppe. We are now on the Treviris Stellplatz at Trier for a couple of days. Plenty of room here, but am beginning to think it was a bad move as there is a huge funfair just behind the stellplatz and it blaring out fairground music at full volume. Will be catching the bus into town tomorrow to escape the racket.

We have moved to Sankt Goar on the Rhine, very breezy and humid, €23 per night with good facilities, but no ACSI unfortunately, we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Just a little information for those contemplating joining in on this fiasco. My Oyster has managed to pick up ITV all along the route, so you will be able to keep a track on Cora.
For the lazy cyclists like me, the cycle track is mostly flat as it follows the river, so bring your push iron.
Many of the stellplattz now have free wifi, but not all.
I have never been a lover of white wine, am more of a rough red man, but have now been converted and the sparkling Riesling is excellent.
There aqre many Lidle and Aldi supermarkets along the route, so no problem with supplies and many stellplatz have a bread man that calls in the morning.
