Morocco 23

Ramadan in Morocco, where nights turn into day, People get a little tetchy but that soon fades away, as sunset casts its orange glow across this beautiful land and people's faces smile again at food piles tall & grand
Shops open up at crazy hours is it midnight or 12 noon? and everyone waits so patiently for that next beautiful full moon...

Sorry I haven’t been clear, they upgraded the P 1919 so its a lot easier to get to from Tafraoute. Careful though because there is also a much shorter route (signposted) which is supposed to be very narrow and rough.

We went down to Ifrane Atlas saghir and across but there was another new road about 10 miles bbeforewe got there to somewhere beginining with B ( sorry its in squiggle on gmaps) but I noticed another apparently new turning to the same place off the Amtoudi rd that also looks new, might be worth a cautious punt?
We are leaving Sidi Ifni tomorrow for Tarfraout and thought we would go via the P1919 if it's a good road, going from the N12, has anyone done this one.

Actually did that route morning. The route is pretty good all the way, mostly seems like a newish road. Nothing I’d worry about doing thou we are in 6m PVC.

We are leaving Tafraoute today but can I recommend the ad-hoc site situated between Camping Granite Rose and Tres Palmiers. It is only 15MAD a night! It has bins and a water bowser comes round daily as well as a baker on a bike!. Your black waste can go in a proper motorhome disposal station 400 yards away behind the play area opposite the Tourist Information

well as a baker on a bike!.
If you leave 2dh in a bag hanging on your mirror he'll put a baguette or hubcap (bread) in it before you get up!

Ah, fond memories of the plaintive "Patisserie, patisserie, boulangerie, bread, bread, bread" call every morning.............

Thats where most of us have always stayed. Great place.

Bread bread bread man gave me a beer this time! Someone had obviously given it to him and he wanted to trade for a bit of tagine. Nice guy, a real laugh.

Look for the 5 Olympic Rings on the building by the roundabout disposal station is behind that

We need to be at Tanger Med early to get the 10.30 ferry. Has anyone overnighted on the port who could say what was their experience for the night.

I don’t know about the port area but I can’t see why not - there is a huge area by the money changing booths near the checkin desks.

We parked up here for a few hours during the day while waiting for the next boat.

The car park ‘guardian’ said it would have been fine to spend the night there. Might be worth a look - it’s only 10 mins from the port gates.

On the wagon for the rest of Ramadan!

So the beer and wine supplies have been exhausted. Called in at the Uniprix shop in Agadir who say that they were selling alcohol to tourists during Ramadan but the authorities have just banned them.
If we can't buy a bottle of wine in Agadir don't hold out much hope for anywhere else. Ahh well, never mind

Dont worry ….only 433 hours to go 😊

We were only saying yesterday that it was interesting to see several locals feeding the stray dogs in Tata. ( There's loads of dogs there) and the schools kids petting them.

A bit of a novelty today. For the first time in 21 days we've seen a cafe/ restaurant open in daylight hours.
Although it was busy it just didn't seem right for us to sit eating and drinking in front of nearly everyone else fasting in the sweltering heat.
Got a nice pitch and a bit of shade. Foum Zguid £6.20 a night

Was that the cafe in centre of Foum Zguid? We drove past there two weeks ago and felt the same so stopped out of town in a quiet spot to make some lunch. Now back in Blighty and missing that weather!

Yes it was. When we are out we even find a quiet corner to drink our water. It's blooming hot here .

Still trying to get my better half to go. Would love to get there.

A picture for my friend and banned member on here Webby.
Nothings changed here since your lock down incarceration. Your pitch hasn't changed either.
Himmi sends his love, he says you must have done something terrible to get banned as you were the kindest, most considerate , caring and happy member of all the inmates here.

Good to hear you got back in time after all your problems. It all seemed so easy at Sidi Kaouki

To be fair it's a bit too hot here but at £8 a night and free use of the pool complex at the Riad next door it's not so bad!

It's more interesting in Morocco at this time of year.
The campingcarisites have gone to be replaced by more weary( but younger) travellers from all over.
This campsite now has 24 vehicles on it of all shapes and sizes but ours is the only traditional motorhome . It's all trucks, campers, Landrovers, fire trucks etc etc.

This one takes first prize.

1955 Citroen 11cv. He says it's the first Traction Avant unibody car, a game changer in his words.

Took a ten mile walk up to Todra gorge and back through the fertile banks of the river .
The campsite man suggested the walk rather than driving up with all the tourists and although only 100 yards off the road it was a different world of derelict Kasbahs, old villages, friendly peasant workers, pleasant kids, donkeys and more. A real joy .
