Morocco 23

Theres a short stretch of motorway so planning on using that but I think it stays well away from the fence.
Speaking of short stretches of motorway, there is now one bypassing Tiznit and is being continued but not open to Sidi Ifni.

Also a reminder to anyone maybe next year thinking of bringing a drone

Can confirm that the route went entirely smoothly.
Happy to have routed from Chefchaouen to the Med coast as the scenery was up there with the very best.
(I absolutely agree with your comment that Martil and up-coast resembles the Spanish holiday hotspots, although the other parts of the route more than compensated.)

For those still in Morocco don't forget to put your clock back an hour tonight for Ramadan. ( not that I suppose it will make much difference to most of us)

Its not a bad run, took us quite close to Ceuta and I think we saw a few would be invaders mulling around but there were a lot of police vans mostly with riot grilles.

Yes thanks we went to terre d ocean I then discovered o/s drive shaft gaiter damage, they came to camp site a had a look, they said they would order a new one on their return. On Thursday last went back to Fiat had the new one fitted ( took all day) so went back to terre d ocean and are still here until Tuesday we are then going North slowly back to Tanger Med 🙏🙏🙏🤞

Yes we noticed that but did not know what was going on!
I did seem quite strange, thought a big football match was due !

Has anyone stayed here? South of Sidi Ifni and just before the Western Sahara, parking near lagoon. The other place is further South still just into Western Sahara.

Sorry cant help, but we did go partway down the new road from Sidi Ifni to plage blanche. If you put it in Satnav it will take you via Guelmin because they dont have it yet. Out past towards port and jink left just before you get there.

Jongood did you get to Amtoudi on your travels and if so, ( in your opinion) was it worth the detour and if so ,did you take a guide up to the Agadir(s)?

we did but the campsite is a mess, they've tried to posh it up and got part way but tbf its showing all the signs of a campsite design by people who have never used one. the completed spaces are too tight for most mhs. the new toilet blocks are posh but they have no signs for men and women and the doors are glazed so could be interesting :)

There no longer seems to be a setup for a guided walk to the agadirs but tbh its easy enough to work out how to getvto them anyway, you just need to remember to take 20mad each for the doorman.

its still a nice stop and its much easier to get to now and you're then on the bottom road (n12) for going to the Sahara. however it was really windy when were there and I didnt fancy the sandstorms so we cut for the coast.

Thanks. We've seen it's easy to get to from N12 but heard similar comments to yours.
We are going that way in a week or two and looking for ideas whilst Ramadan is on. I think we'll give it a try

Sorry I haven’t been clear, they upgraded the P 1919 so its a lot easier to get to from Tafraoute. Careful though because there is also a much shorter route (signposted) which is supposed to be very narrow and rough.

We went down to Ifrane Atlas saghir and across but there was another new road about 10 miles bbeforewe got there to somewhere beginining with B ( sorry its in squiggle on gmaps) but I noticed another apparently new turning to the same place off the Amtoudi rd that also looks new, might be worth a cautious punt?

Has anyone done the route from Taradant to Marrakesh via the N7 this year 🤔 and tell me if it's a good road surface, I don't mind the bends.

The only N7 I can find is by the Algerian border sorry Derek. Personally I would go to Agadir and up the Motorway. I know that there's a more direct route but is it passable in a regular motorhome?

Thanks Jon, I have just looked again and it's the N10 out of Taradant and left on the R203, the N7 was a typo. It looks interesting but unless it's a good road we'll use the motorway. Stay good

Road works on N1 about 5km before Sidi
Kaouki going North for about

When we returned home two years ago due to the Covid panic, literally by the skin of our teeth as we got the very last ferry (which they held for us!) into Algeciras, we exited via Ceuta. To be honest we had no problems. We've always used Tanger-Med which, as said above, is a modern, well set up port and spits you out straight onto the motorway system, avoiding having to negotiate the initially strange Tanger city.

For anyone interested I'd suggest reading a few of the old Morocco threads, 2016 being particularly good as it has lots of photos. If you look in the Resources section (dark blue line at the top of the page) you'll find my Morocco article which sets out almost everything you need to know - it's a couple of years old now but probably still valid, except maybe for prices of course.

As a re-opening offer Carlos (Guitterez) is currently offering a round trip ticket, van and 2 persons, for 180 euros.
This Carlos sounds a resourceful sort of guy, can he also arrange insurance?

Morocco with very little planning is possible. …

We left home on 15th March with only just over three weeks to play with before we have to be back. Thought we’d end end up in Southern Spain.

We kept heading south, following the weather and ended up near Seville, had a quick read of this thread for some pointers then called in to see Carlos in Algeciras on Monday morning, bought a €290 open return ticket, called LV to upgrade my Insurance for a couple of weeks and two hours later we were boarding the ferry.

Stopped at Asilah and then had a look at the map and decided to use the motorway to get as far south as quickly as possible. Blatted down and jumped off just north of Safi and then stopped at Oualidia on the second night. From there we’ve wandered down the coast as far as Sidi Ifni. Now about to head inland and work our way back up to Tangiers Med over the next 7 or 8 days.

No need to over plan it, Morocco is pretty easy to sort out as you go along.
