Morocco 23

Sadly a lot of the morrocans are downright cruel to the dogs that's why they bark at them constantly but are OK with most tourists.

I don't trust people who don't like dogs but I always trust a dog when it doesn't like a person
I would agree. The thing that has surprised me is just how friendly a lot of the dogs are. It seemed the two on this site just wanted a bit of human company. Yesterday the beaten dog just came and lay down by my feet whilst I was reading.
I have to be a bit careful because I've got a little gob rubbish of a terrier, but even when he was doing his best to be obnoxious the camp dog just looked at him and looked away.

Yesterday this dog went walking with the neighbours and their dog to the beach. Overnight it was beaten in Sidi Kaouki Beach Camping. Not the sort of place I want to stay.

That's no way to treat strays ! They should follow the examples we saw in Greece. Live and let Live.

Where is the best site for a couple of weeks near agadir
We also loved Terre. d' Ocean

Info from our friends is that the taxi drivers have stitched a ' fixed' fare of 100 dh each way just to get into Taghazout which isn't very far

Could anyone recommend the best route from Tiznit to Tafraoute, for road conditions as I've read one route is bad near to Tafraoute
Plus what's the N7 road like from Igherm to Taroudant.

There is really only the one road from Tiznit to Tafraoute. The R104.

The R104 Tiznit to Tafroute is absolutely fine. For the last mile you need to watch out for raised sump splitting manholes but they are easy to see.

second to that Derek, its only the last mile or so. just go slowly. the other option going straight on at Ait Aida and joining R107 isnt any better. coming in from Agadir side is apparently better if you're really concerned.

We needed a break from Morocco following the dog beating incident from a few days ago. We're in a little bit of Europe at Camping Takat. It's in the middle of nowhere. Doesn't feel a bit like Morocco which suits me fine at the moment. Run by a French family and mostly French campers. No stray dogs or cats and nobody has tried to sell me anything. Just a calm oasis. The drive here from Sidi Kaouki was stunning.
Not sure if I'm cut out for Morocco or if I've just been unlucky with the animal cruelty experiences but this is a good place to come if you feel you need a break from the culture shock.

We are currently at Camping Takat, 30 minutes from Agadir on Core de Sidi Toile. Great site, friendly, some English spoken, swimming pool, restaurant (with wine!) Best showers I've known in Morocco, in fact everywhere is clean. www.campingtakatagadir.com GPS: 30⁰15.223N, 9⁰35.122W

We thought we were the only non French on here! We're in an Autotrail scout opposite the swimming pool. Be nice to compare notes tomorrow if you're still about. 😊

We're here for a while yet until we run out of supplies, there's also a Scottish couple here, we're both on the row past the shower block, unfortunately there's no WiFi/phone signal there but I'm sure we can compare notes at some point

We came back down the road today.
They've pretty much covered the manholes but it's 10 mph atbest for about two miles

I didn't dare ask. It was our friends who stopped when you were broken down on the road.
I hope all eventually goes well

Has anyone been to Chefchaouen lately?

For years I've been warning anyone who mentions it not to go through from the south, but having a browse on googlemaps yesterday I saw what seems to be a southern bypass? Does anyone here know if it's true?

We re on a lovely little campsite 22kms above Ouezzane, its on the side of the main road but quietens down at night. with lovely views, and a well marked 3 - 5 kms panoramic walk.

Sorry I can't help but I totally agree about not coming in from the south but probably for a different reason.
We went round and round a large town square until a kind man ran up a very steep hill to show us the right way. In our old van it was front wheel spin , I wasn't sure we would make it.

driving past Chefchouen today, there was a coach coming down the southern road and the Northern access looks like its a dual carriageway.

We came in from the south.
Major roadworks at the high end roundabout meant that we had to go down a steep dusty road and then back up another along with tight corners. No good for your mh Jon.
However, I had wanted to try the guardian parking and that is where my sat-nav took us. Quickly discovered it as a no-no and went up another couple of steep hills and tight corners to the campsite.
Other Motorhomes would have come in a much more direct way than us.

Forward Planning our last leg in a few days time or so from Chefchouen and want to head towards the Med coast before getting to Tanger med.
Was hoping to hug the coast all the way round, past Ceuta but a German guy has advised me to avoid that route because of immigrants etc.
I know that the area around Ceuta will be where most are but does anyone who has done it recently know whether if I stick to the main road skirting Ceuta I will be vulnerable at traffic lights etc?
Thanks.

Sorry….butting in here a bit…probably the only person on this thread who’s not actually in Morocco…in Spain…although I’m almost tempted by this thread…is no phone signal, I mean 4G… quite common in Morocco….don’t care about WiFi just 4G.

Would you mind telling me how much data GB one can get…is 80GB possible and how much per month?

We are on this.

Bought from INWI shop in Asillah hassle free
Unlimited data for one or two months( 600 dh for two months)
Three weeks in we've used 40 gigs and it's worked fine.

After two months we have to buy another SIM from INWI as the SIM cannot be recharged.

Finding an INWI office might be the issue .

The Maroc Telecom one has worked almost everywhere, far better than O2 back home. Its basically 100dh/10gb for a data sim, 10,20,30,40 50gb but you do need to watch out that some of the smaller amounts also have less days. I think next time I may well try inwi again. I tried it a few trips back and the network was lacking but like the rest of Morocco its moved on a lot.

We're at the M'diq one been out on the scooter down to Martil, the southern Beach one looks like its up and running. Not seen any sign of the troublesome ones.

Martil has changed to the point its looking more like Spain than Morocco, They've got a retail park with a Carrefour and a drive in BK, and IKEA just up the road I'm struggling to find where the old campsite even was. .

Do you know if it works in a MiFi device….

Will you be heading to the port via the med coast route or doubling back via tetouan on the southern loop?
Cheers
