Morocco 23

The only company I've ever heard of who do proper breakdown cover in Morocco is ADAC. Unfortunately they no longer accept business from non-German residents.
As far as I am aware, those Insurance companies who will cover you for Morocco will probably all say the same thing - get it repaired, keep the bill and we'll (probably!) reimburse you.
But unless it's pretty serious it's unlikely you won't be able to find someone who can repair it, even if it is a "get-you-home" job. If you see some of the wrecks they rebuild and keep on the road you'd see what I mean, all because of the horrendous import tax on vehicles (100%?). Which is also the reason that you must import and export your vehicle personally; they won't let you leave without it (except under special circumstances).

No, assuming you're on a Spain to Morocco ferry (not Ceuta, that's Spanish) you do all the Immigration documentation etc on the ferry. Import of your vehicle will be done at the port Customs Post - it's pretty straightforward now as the last time we went through they appeared to have got themselves organised. But be prepared for a wait - we once took 2 hours to "clear" but that was because it was lunchtime, prayers time and the computers had gone down! But don't lose the card they give you - that's also your export document you hand in on your departure and without it you're going to have all sorts of aggro!
 
Hoping to go to Spain early 2023 and extend our 90 days by going to Morocco. We have a dog and will only have the AHC lasting 4 months not an EU passport. We have a Titre test. Does anyone know if we will have to get another AHC issued in Morocco to return to Spain? Also if we end up being away for longer than four months how do we get back into England?
I am trying to find the answers online but having difficulty
 
Why not get a EU dog passport on the way out.
All the details will be added from the AHC.
Around 45 Euros.

If you are going to use Carlos there is a vets practice next to Leroy Merlin's , just round the corner from Carlos .Will try and get his number for you

Good to see prices coming down, presume that's for an open return, two persons.

By "parking opposite Carlos'" do you mean the Carrefour overflow car park or the "new" one that was laid down around 5 years ago? There are other places we've used but do avoid Lidls car park; round the corner outside Mercadonna always was popular.

I think that is what we are going to try and do. My only concern is that Max has already had his 3 year rabies jab this year and I'm not sure if he will have to have another one to get the passport. I'm going to try emailing a vet in Bruges that has been mentioned in another post.

Does it vary on size of van? And was that van and 2 passengers or van and 1 passenger? How long is the crossing ?

That price was camper one person ,open return.The car park we used before Carrefour opened there overflow three or four years ago is now full of artics
 
First time ever ,just been asked for pet passport and the titre certificate as well as already in the passport
 
Has anyone ever been fined or know someone who has for exceeding the schengen limit, and if so how much by?

They transferred all the dates from the AHC onto the passport.
Our pup was 2 months into a three year vaccine.
The date on the passport is until 2025 exactly as the AHC showed.
 
Any guide as to roughly how much money - I assume cash - we should calculate per day?
Is it best to change currency before arriving or upon arrival? (I believe that very little local currency is allowed to leave the country.)

That would be good. I don't really want him to have extra jab. Can you tell me what vet you used?

Campsites £10 with electric ( or less)
Get money at Tangier Med.
Most petrol stations take cards but cash is the norm for everyday stuff.
Food is cheaper
BUT
Buying leather coats, carpets, dress making fabric, surfing lessons, quad biking, overnighting trips in the desert, sightseeing , re upholstering or eating out is anybody's guess

We've always taken starting cash across with us in euros or pounds, maybe 500, and exchanged for dirhams at the booths leaving Tangier Med. Exchange rates seem to be controlled so we never worried about that. Once that ran out we just used a Caxton card (other cards are available!) to draw cash as we needed it from machines which were in most towns. Just in case we always kept a tankful's worth of dirhams in case we got a bit off the beaten track as it were - or managed to get "fined" for some minor infraction - very very easy to do, don't argue just pay it, won't be huge.
Cash is king - you won't be using a card in the souks! Larger fuel station and the bigger supermarkets all happily take card payments.
Incidentally, banks don't exchange currency; there are dedicated Bureaux de Change in larger towns and cities but Post Offices will also change if you need. We have occasionally come across "independants" who offer to change pounds/dollars (nobody wants the euro) at "good rates" though we've never used them or compared to the official rate. DON'T CHANGE TOO MUCH - their currency buying rates are poor and you will have problems exchanging once out of the country. Carlos' office in Algeciras will happily exchange either way but he makes a profit on it.................

Simply cannot comment on daily allowance, very much dependant on how far you want to travel as I notice fuel is no longer cheap, a big attraction when we first went. As it's been 3 years since we were last there no idea how other costs have changed. If I had to I'd guess work on what you'd spend in the UK and you'll be fine.

Friends of ours recently came back through Calais having spent 194 days in the EU. Handed over their passports and after much button pressing, the customs officer who clearly didn’t know what to do, called a colleague over. More button pressing and then ‘Monsieur there is a probleme’ He obviously didn’t know what to do either. Phone call to someone in Paris who said that they would be fined €198 each in CASH! Unfortunately (or fortunately whichever way you want to look at it) they only had €40. Another call to Paris and the €40 was accepted and they were given a receipt and sent on their way. Weirdly though, they were told they could return to France the following day if they wanted to.🤔
It will be interesting to see what happens when they return after Christmas.

Same here overstayed twice a 5 month and 6 month stint no problem they just stamped Passports and didn’t even blink. This is fact.

Would be interested. 2 of us and a small dog in a motorhome. Hope to cross to Calais beginning of January and travel down. Never been to Morocco before but interested. Please keep us in mind. Thanks, Mikensue

About 90 minutes, less for Tarifa, you used to have to put a day aside for importing etc but massively quicker these days.
