Morocco 2017

Has anyone had any silverscreens made over there and what do they think of the quality/price and by who ??????
Thanks.

Hi Dave ,I think Dazzlins were made there, sure he'
ll be on later to correct me if I'm wrong.

Hope to meet up with you at Tafroute.

Minus 8 this morn in Germany.
Not sure when I'll be able to escape as don't have winter tyres.
Will have to find a recipe for warm wine lol
Hi @PhilandMena

Yes, Sue is right. This is exactly what we did and it worked a treat on our Baslow system. I even got a filter and connected at bottle outlet then connected to hose.
I wonder if you upended a moroc bottle high enough would that allow it to decant
Into to your fitted bottles ?

Yes, we had some made.

Extra windows in tge side and fold low at the front. Paid about €70.
Quality wise. They are not waterproof on the back but dry off in a couple of sunny days. Also velcro is now losing its grip, but had them 3 years now!
On a plus note:- they are a lot more flexible than the uk type and fold to half the size, also they do keep it warm (or cool in summer) and stop 100% of the condensation inside.

@Armytwowheels have the maroc edition also.

As other's have said this goes on with some motor-homers in Moroc. It is extremely dangerous and should never be done in the vicinity of a motorhome as leaking fumes will be seeking an ignition source.

Thanks @Mr Ed & @Dazzlin, Daz did you get it made at Tafroute ??.
Re decanting, nice gentleman about 100 yds away from me tried to use the tree right next to me to decant last year, absolutely no way was that happening.
Thanks @Theonlysue for the connection hose link just bought one :-)

We saw a few French doing it with standard bottles but I can't remember seeing anyone do it with gas low system
Like you say though spooky

Gaslow supply "Reserve Cylinder Connection Hose" part number 01-4500 as shown on theonlysue's post earlier. The hose screws into the fitted filler on the van and to the reserve bottle, which stands on the ground next to the van. It doesn't have to be elevated.

Sorry Dave. It was on Tag. But there is a guy who does them on Tafraoute. Just keep your eyes open.

The French were filling their own bottle from a morrocan bottle hence the elevated position.
This is just another way of getting gas into your system going through your regulator.
As said, it just sits on the ground near your filler point.

Just to confirm about LPG. There are NO facilities anywhere in Morocco for filling a refillable (e.g. Gaslow) system. However I understand that there are 3 gas refineries who will refill any bottle provided it can be carried in through the gates. I've heard of campsite guardians who have taken bottles to be refilled overnight.

In all honesty using the connections outlined by Phil and Sue are the easiest options if you have a refillable system. Personally I carry a Spanish bottle with the Gaslow adapter which has been fine last three years. I also have a Gaslow camping gaz adapter that fits the small Moroccan bottles for outright emergencies.

If anyone is interested, we're currently on the aire at Oloron St Marie ready to go through Somport Tunnel tomorrow. It's dry and clear but bloody cold, forecast is same for a few days.

See you all in Maroc!

can you post how you gto on at Tangier med , ie have they got the procedure sorted as in organised yet ...lol or still manic ... cry
Sorry for late reply, couldnt get Maroc Telecom data sim to work in mifi.It connected but none of my tech could see it. Worked connected to laptop with usb but stopped again soon as unplugged. Now got it working as a hotspot in an old mobile.

Trip over was no hassle but lenghly, 4 hours from when ferry should have left to escaping customs. Ferry was over an hour late leaving and customs took over an hour to.

We're now at Moulay Besselham and the weather is great.

Dave, you may be interested in one of these. I purchased one and fit it between Maroc gas bottle and internal Gas bottle just to make sure no crap is getting through to fridge and like.

Have a great Journey, might see you on your way back.

Thanks @PhilandMena had one connected the last 2 years and only last year did I have a slight problem with soot ably dealt with by big Ian.
Inshallah
Ps is anyone else taking ice grips this year or is it just Maggie again lol

If you stay at one of the campsites in Marrakech and leave the town on the N8 heading for the A7 Autoroute the gas plant is on the left hand side set back from the main road. There are often motorhomes outside. Presumably you hand your bottle to somebody at the gate and they take it in and fill it. Not sure how long it takes.

There was a guy when we were at Taghazoute year before last who took my Morrocan bottle away and 3 days late brought it back filled with propane which I'd insisted on. He had about a dozen bottles in his van and he drove to the gas plant and back, as mentioned above and charged me about £14 from memory. The round trip is well over 300 miles so £14 was very cheap IMO.

As ken says the gas plant on the N8 will fill any bottle Malcom bolt took me there and I removed. My gaslow bottle it took around 20 minutes to return if full at around a a tenner I did ask for propane I am still unsure what we got but it worked ok

If you select your name, it's at the bottom of the screen :-)

Just a friendly reminder (@TerryL you might want to update your notes when and if details confirmed), you can swap (and buy) cylinders of gas in Tiznit and get a propane refill for 40 DH. I did this last year from a nearby campsite and the lad cycled into town on his bike with my empty cylinder and cam back with a full one of propane. I gave him a bit of a grilling as i was convinced it was Butane but he assured me Propane was easy to get in the town. At Banna village a tosser offered to get me a propane refill for 600DH. Anyway, many of you will be going through Tiznit, perhaps someone can check it out and put a post up for the benefit of other Funsters

@Robert Thomas we are also intending to cross on 24th January all (i.e. the dog, he's a bit poorly at the moment) being well, probably with Portland (Derek & June) and maybe a couple of others. If you want we can link up beforehand to make up a small group and get some extra discount. PM me - currently at Peniscola, making our way slowly south.

Same applies to anyone else wishing to cross to Morocco on 24th.

@Hilary Owen Look back a couple of pages - did quite a long post about it.

But it's €200, less a 10% Funster discount
