Morocco 2017

@tgee likewise. We're on our way south now, currently in a very cold and foggy Pont de l'Arche.

Hi. We are booked on the 8.45am ferry next Tuesday 10th Portsmouth to Santander. We are travelling down from Lincolnshire on the Monday and I am sure I have read somewhere that because it is an early ferry you can overnight on the dock. Does anybody have any knowledge of this or any suggestions?

Mike

Hi. Thanks to all the info on here, especially Terry, we're at the Mercadona carpark booked on the 10am ferry.tomorrow.
Carlos' new office was easy to find and heaving. Carlos has retired and his daughter is running things, very efficiently. They charged 200 euros without mentioning Fun. And thought, perhaps wrongly, I'd be pushing it asking for the Fun discount on top.
There's 60-70 vans on this carpark alone and more elsewhere. Haven't seen any stickers yet though.

Getting itchy feet now. We are setting off from home South west France on Thursday or Friday I think.

Yes it is fine to stay on the dockside. We have done it many times.
Aim to arrive fairly late (e.g. after 8pm) and when you enter the area where the check in lanes are, park next to the fence on the left. You will find there will be several other vans doing exactly the same.
Have a great time1

We were there on the 6th December and you were not allowed to park before 10.30pm but you can park outside Brittany Ferries office in the lane nearest the office after asking for permission. Hope this helps.

@angelad, why not ask for the discount?
I've seen what they pay to the ferry, clapping their hands all the way to the bank lol

Thanks to both makems and Fredgwen for your input. Very helpful, now all we need is a plan A :D and a plan B :(

HI TerryL - just thought I would post some information which may help others. After problems acquiring Green Card last year due to age of van and purchasing insurance at the border in Morocco ( 90 Euro for one month or 180 Euro for three month) we managed to get insurance from Safeguard Friday 30th December 2016. They emailed the documents to us and said we had to phone the Green Card department on Tuesday 3rd January 2017 when the office opened. We did so from Spain and where told we no longer need a Green Card for Morocco and just to use our insurance documents. I asked the representative for confirmation and she replied that she had spoken to a senior colleague who had confirmed this. On asking, she also suggested this may now be widespread through the insurance industry.

As I say this is just for information and my experience of insuring for Morocco.

P.S. nice to see you and Brenda are fit and well and raring to go by once again organising a much appreciated first time experience and introduction to Morocco! Regards, Tam & Angie

can you post how you gto on at Tangier med , ie have they got the procedure sorted as in organised yet ...lol or still manic ... cry

There are 3 lpg places in Morocco, but don't know exactly where they are.
Comfort issued me green card no problem. Might be an idea to have one, in case the Moroccans ask, they might not have caught up lol

Last year I was able to exchange a Propane bottle in Tiznit for 40DH. (the 12KG one). I think they may have a filling station/centre there. I believe there is also one at Marrakesh.

All things being equal and Mother permitting we are on Eurotunnel Monday 12.55 :D
We're just behind you, on the Portsmouth/Santander ferry the next day

It gets gradually better every year Graeme. I think we only took about half an hour last year.

Hello Dear Funsters,
We are new members here with my man, so helly everybody!:)
Can we ask what sort of options are available in Morocco, if we have gas-it LPG bottle in our van, and no bbq point. Should we buy anything before morocco to be able to attach a moroccan bottle if we run out of lpg?
The question probably has been answered in earlier threads but we have limited data so cant browse so much..Thanks for your help!

Gas and gas bottles are readily available in Moroc. The small gas refillable bottles are dirt cheap and a refill is about 20DH. The larger bottles are a little more at around 40 DH for a refill (2015 prices). You will need a French LPG connector/regulator and these too are readily available. What isn't is refilling your on board bottles, so cross over with them full.

thx PhilandMena:) so the connector/regulator we can buy in morocco too, thats great. we will leave spain with full lpg tanks but we like to keep ourselves toasty warm so will need to buy moroccan gas-bottles. I heard theres no lpg in morocco but I just saw Theonlysue wrote theres 3 lpg stations. Can someone write where they are pls?

Have you refillable bottles?
If you have, I bought this hose from gaslow. One end fits to your refill point, the other end fits exactly to Moroccan bottle.
All you need is spanner to tighten to bottle.
I just left it connected outside the van, then carried in the garage when travelling.

Yes, Sue is right. This is exactly what we did and it worked a treat on our Baslow system. I even got a filter and connected at bottle outlet then connected to hose.

Has anyone had any silverscreens made over there and what do they think of the quality/price and by who ??????
Thanks.
