Morocco 2017

Hi @Robert Clark if you do decide to go to erg chebbi and unless someone who has been on this road lately says different the best route is up the N9 then the R108 to Tazzarine not the N12 from Zagorra. Also if you are stuck for time the N9 to ouarzazate then the N10 to Errachida is a good road and you can stop off at the Dades and Todra gorges. Good wild camping next to the lake at ouarzazate think I've got the co ords if you want them

Hi Busman - would appreciate the co ords please

This is the route I was planning for that section of our trip - does that work?

When leaving Ouazarzate with the Barrage El Mansour Eddahbi on your RHS take a right turn at

30°58'33.7"N 6°45'29.5"W

and drive to the end of the tarmac section, then keep going on piste track till you reach what looks like like a water tower. No more than a mile or two max. No facilities at all so ensure you have water and your cassette is empty.

Thanks guys - have added Ouazarzate and Dades Gorge to the itinerary.

Has anyone got any co ords for a wild camping spot in Todra Gorge?
Can you get up there in a 7.5m Gin Palace?

If you use the lake at ouarzazate make sure you fill with water and empty toilet out
Unless things have changed since 2014 there are no services
Lovely spot and one I would recommend for few days of chill out
good walking and locals where fishing from lake side

A good place to stay when you are Aït Benhaddou is the Kasbah du Jardin. If you are doing the Gorges Dadés you ought to call do the Gorges du Todgha (Todra), which are accessed by turning left at Tinghir when apparoaching from Ouazarzate.

You can drive up and stay in the grounds of the Hotel Camping Le Soleil. Take a taxi up to the top or walk if you're so inclined. Its a bit scary driving a biggish van up there.

There's this place at the top of the gorge that people were wilding, should be no problem.

Did'nt fancy going all the way up in ours 7.9 mts, what with coaches and other traffic - it was quite busy when we were there.

Raining today in Essaouria but apart from a visit to Carrefour (alcohol section still open if you need your supplies topping up) we hadn't planned a lot, maybe walk the dog on the beach. But it's clearing up nicely now, the forecast is good so a stroll into the city tomorrow is our plan.

Pikeman and Rodneyplonker went to the campsite just along from the guardian parking last night. We met Keith and Sue later and apparently they were made most unwelcome, the facilities were disgusting and they couldn't get an electrical hookup. Saw them passing us by this morning leaving the site but not since. Have to say that was our experience two years ago but I've read others have found it different. Just reporting.

How do Carefour booze prices compare with those in Spain ?

There is an "aire" right in the centre of town, watch out for stray dogs, they bite!

@TerryL a shame Essaouria was one of our favourite places, we spend an amazing morning at the fish market, but then you could park right by the harbour. Please say hello to @Portland Derek & June for us. x. Could you ask them to have a look at @Ambilkate VIP Bonfire week end meet , and see if they would like to join us. x

Spotted a small demonstration this morning as we walked into Essaouira outside what I think was the town hall. There were perhaps a dozen people there with a large banner but no police in evidence. No idea what it was about as we didn't venture close but it looked quite civilised.

Don't worry Carol, it's still a lovely place and they appear to be spending a lot of money cleaning and tidying it up. It's probably our favourite town/city in Morocco and really should not be missed. Don't let the campsite put you off, it's the exception. Even the guardian parking has been tidied up.

Had a lovely day, re-exploring the medina and enjoying a lovely meal. People are so friendly.

Sorry, we are some of the very few Funsters who aren't all that bothered about alcohol so didn't venture in. But I agree that the prices probably equate to UK.

The banner said GO HOME TERRY

We are sitting in sidi ifni, and contemplating our next move, the question is should we go to Tan Tan, and if so why ??.

We are on camping Sidi Ifni, should have gone to Camping El Barco !!.

And, I've seen millions and millions of French returning with bags full of shopping, whereabouts have they been ?

Merci et au revoir

We left sidi ifni today, the camp by the beach, had a lovely 5 days and now in tafraoute and the weather is glorious

Who needs Google, when you have this forum ?

Spent the last few days in M'hamid at La Boussole, 50drm per night which includes bread if you want it. Camping in the desert! Yesterday Abdulla who runs the campsite arranged a trip to the dunes inc lunch and more sightseeing and true offroading! Our driver and guide was Saheed who is a local nomad and knows the desert like the back of his hand. Nothing was too much trouble and his English was very good. Cost Ali and me 1200drm. for both and was very good value.
Came up to Ouazazate today and the roadworks are everywhere. Hope to catch up with some of you soon.

Probably the huge market at the back of the town:)

We are heading south to Essaouria today, currently just south of
Casablanca. Very cool start but finally found internet and lovely coffee.
Is anyone else heading down there, already there, willing to be there? We would love to chat to some fellow wander ers. So far haven't met a single Brit. let alone a fun steer. Crossing was fine. Don't worry tincanfamily if we did it you'll be good. Hope to hear from anyone soon.

We stayed there last year! (TanTan Plage) It was a good road getting down there and we stayed in Camping Atlantique. There are other Campsites on the same road and they all appeared to be charging more or less the same price. (70 Dh with lecce as best as I can recall). The town is small with a number of cafes and repair shops etc. and we found the best ones near the centre where we had chicken and chips for 30DH. A 30 minute drive south (N1) takes you to a wonderful free wild camping spot used by many Oued Chbika and a great location to wild away and if needs be pop back into a Tan Tan Campsite to get your supplies laundry etc. We will definitely visit again. A couple of pictures.

At the Marjane at Agadir today was approached by a guy who can fill English gas bottles with propane,
His name is Saeed tel 0668 391238
GazPropane Agadir
Camping Agadir
I asked for a price and he quoted 190mad for 11kg bottle
Also had a flier for one of the many campsites south of Agadir and was given one by the owner Jean Cristoph
We stayed there 2 yrs ago on his flier it says Gas Propane
I asked him and he said he could fill as long as you had the adaptors? I didn't get a price but it seems you can get them filled with proper propane albeit at a price?
Camping Bakanou also now do a freedom package @ 30mad parking water 15mad drain mad. That's if your not after the normal package of 70mad ex ehu
