Morocco 2016

gibralter usually as dirhams . lots spanish coastal banks have them . and although i havent been to maroc for a couple years we always exchanged in banks . might have changed . if its changed sorry.
there was a time they asked if you hasd dirhams on you as you left maroc and made you chnge them but that was in the 80,s last time i had it happen.

We just used the ATM's and never had a problem and some banks do exchange, if it's travelling by auto always have some dirhams on you as petrol stations don't like taking cards if it's a two week holiday I'm sure they'll have no problem, plus make sure they inform their the bank before going as they might stop the card
Thanks Busman there are 30 of them in an all inclusive hotel so I doubt they will be doing any driving. Thanks I will check with his bank tomorrow.

think most of us meant moroccan banks .
i know a few spanish and gib that have them . but take it he is flying in .
best get them at airport .in morocco.

Any updates on Bromlyxphil ???
Sorry guys we are having a ball in Morocco but I don't want to just put on the same stuff folk read earlier. We followed the coast down to Essaouira and then headed inland to Marrakech. We had a great couple of days there and did a cookery course at Souk Cuisine
http://www.soukcuisine.com/
The experience was fantastic, you meet up and then have a guide to show you how and where to shop in the Souk, you then go back and cook a meal devised by and instructed by local women. The best bit is then sitting down and eating it.
If you want to read more I wrote it up on my blog at

Can you believe I met Moha, you didn't even tell me where he lived and I still managed to stumble across him. Neither he or I could believe it when I cottoned on he was the same bloke, he invited us for lunch.

You seriously had a better lunch than the meal we had however the company was terrific. Tell us more about how you managed to come across him. Has he got his donkey that we all clubbed together to buy?

We had Berber eggs and it was delicious. We were driving up Dades looking for the off road route over to Todra. My sat nav despite buying the map does not work in Morocco so I am on paper maps. I pulled up in a village to check the map and the truck and he opened his door and came out to say hello. He asked me if I was German, they nearly all are in trucks like mine, but asked in English. No I didn't see a donkey, but I did meet the cow.

if your going up dades just keep going you will eventually end up at agoudal there you turn right for the todra run . its easier going up from tinerhir and through todra then up totamttouchte if you want to take the short route . its all passable if the snow isnt deep or the track washed away.
going up fron dades when your right at the top there is or was a restaurant on the left b. in winter its closed . its not far on to turning right at agoudal.
done it a few times with my mini artic .

We decided to do the off road route between Dades and Todra and at more or less half way at over 9000 feet the road collapsed order my back wheel leaving us stranded. We were taken in by a group of Berber Nomads and shared their food and tent for the night. In the morning a group of Nomad men built me a wall to get out. Can't write all the detail here but if you want to read it it's here.

that looks like one of the corners i struggled with . we had to build the corner up. took us best part of a day . my mate made it with his bus but i couldnt quite get the trailer round . we did make it .
the views at the top are fantastic . there is an enormous drop behind my truck in the second pic .
another good play around run is foum -zguid to mhamid across lac iriki when its dry ,usually is .
loads of fun to be had if you stay off the tarmaced roads .
keep the pics coming ,mine are getting old . ha ha

Just landed in Chefchaouen and the campsite is awful. Dusty, dirty nd very noisy with a construction site next door. Someone tell me the blue city is worth it?

We are heading for the port at Tangier Med in the next day or two.
Can we stay at the port?
Where is the last petrol station?
If we can't stay at the port where is nearest?

its always been disappointing . far better to get out on the coast and follow the med . in fact follow it most of the way forget sebta but again head for the coast to the left of sebta (ceuta).
i have never used tangier med . only used tangiers old port or sebta . i do like sebta its living . more lively than marrakech.

Its worth it!
Love Chefchaouen
Your right I love Chefchaouen too, can't think why they call it the blue city though;)
The football team are at home today, it was great fun teaching them Wanderers songs.

Can I stay over at the port tomorrow night ?

Which port?
Not at tanger Med, dont know about the others.
There is a spot very close to Tanger Med at Ksar el Sghir. Head for the port and there is a parking area opposite the gendarmerie at the prot entrance.
The gendarmes are very heppy for you to stay as long as you complete a fiche.

Many have stayed here at Ksar es Seghir. If you drive into town over the river bridge then turn right and then next right towards the small harbour. There is some waste ground overlooking the sea and if you have a word with the police at the port barrier, they don't mind you staying on the waste ground for one night. Tanger Med 2 is just a ten minute drive in the morning.

Its only about 2 or 3 miles to Tanger Med and you pass a cheap filling station on the way if you follow the road through the village with the sea on your left. Dont go on the motorway .

I do the same . Only for me its 200 bottles of red and a few slabs of beer. I cant stand the thought of giving the Chancellor all that tax on UK purchased alcohol.

never mind i like it . 5%and only 48 p a litre .
just as well we all dont like the same .
i do like solera but the sepirituosa is nice as well.
but argus at 3.95 euro for 6 litre is a bargain. they had the 18 can packs on offer most of the winter.
shall enjoy mine over the summer.
or was it the 1ltr conde noble you didnt like . its ok with a splash of lemonade . and again come on at 58cents a litre its gotta be ok.

I enjoy a good bottle of red, and i bring plenty of good stuff back with me. However, i often just want something to quaff and Conde Noble hits that particular spot for me. I noticed in our local lIdl that they are selling Conde Noble in bottles in the Uk now. But a hell of a lot more expensive than it is in Spain!

Witch Piss - Figuratively speaking don't you know Michael
