Well the 15th! we left Moroc' (20th) seen what we wanted to this time, have to say when we arrived at Tangier Med (Midday) was told no crossing until next day due to poor sea conditions but at 3pm they changed their minds and announced a 6pm sailing, from that moment Tangier Med became a War zone:mad::mad: as other people had been waiting to cross for over 48 hours we did get on the Ferry at approx' 9.30 pm we sailed 1.30 am this was our worst experience of any Ferry crossing we have had:(.we found and stayed over night/early morning at the infamous Lidi's.. Anyway's back to sanity we camped at Cabopino camp site (Marbella) for one night which was very nice, we drove 6.0 hours from there to a new find for us at Isla Plana Murcia (Los Madriles) built on the side of a mountain with stunning views of the sea very well managed site two heated swimming pools...Oh! nearly forgot air temp... 21:cool::cool::cool::cool:

Now at Essaouria with Cherrypirate after boring run across from Marrakech. On Essaouria Plage guardian parking with about 50 other vans (thanks Eamonn for co-ords). Will go and have an explore tomorrow.

:cautious::cautious:Just a warning; some lads tried to wave us down trying to make out there had been an accident, with one laying on the floor. Had heard about this so we didn't stop - few seconds after we passed he jumped up onto his feet. DON'T FALL FOR IT! If there HAD been an accident our experience is that the place would have been crawling.:cautious::cautious:

We had similar back in 2012.. Group of lads layed small rocks across road and were after handouts.. When I ploughed through they were banging on the sides of the following vans ! No damage and the only small upset on our trip...

There is guardian parking right in the town. Noticed it a few weeks ago

That tent looks familiar... Does the owner still remember his words to Roar Roar Blow Blow.. :)

I think the whole town know the words after the very enthusiastic rendition tonight.

A great night, thanks to Mike and Graham for the entertainment and the food was lovely.

Last afternoon and evening at Erkounte Park. Me & Suggy had Pastille Maroccaine which was a first for me and was similar to a pie made of filo pastry and filled with chicken, vegetables, vermicelli, nuts and spices, it was delish. The ladies had Vegetable View attachment 54966 View attachment 54968 Tangines

Was just reading the Morocco book and remembered your post, Pastilla - a pigeon pie
( beware the tiny bones) from Marrakech.

Well, one missed email notification, and I find myself fifteen pages behind. :(

All caught up now though, and pleased to see that everyone is safe and are, or have been, enjoying themselves. :)

It's been great looking at all the photos and watching the video clips. Thanks to all who contributed, and are still doing so. (y)

I'll try to "keep up" for the rest of the adventure. ;)

Stay safe everyone. (y)

Jock.

Warming up now in the evenings here at Tafraoute. Sat out a while after the Berber Tent Bash, star gazing and sipping Busman Dave's Grouse, gone midnight before we hit the sack. Head a bit wuzzy this morning.

Its bit like Coq au Vin from France which should also be made with pigeon but everyone nowadays uses chicken.

Now in Tata. Would have been here earlier but kept stopping to gawp at scenery and take pictures. The R106 is in a state with lots of pot holes and needs to be managed with care but do-able. There are some road works going on which is badly needed, so for a few miles it's a bit of a pig untill you take the new road.
I set up a way point on my Sat-Nav to make sure I found the new road that runs between Azgour and Issafen. The Y junction is Is on a bend as you come into the town of Azgour (did not see town nameplate) and it's a metal road that leads down into and beyond Azgour. Narrow to start with but will take large motorhomes and is pot hole free. Once you get going the road opens up more and you drive through some stunning scenery. After you pass the quarry you come to a y junction.TAKE THE LEFT FORK. The road is good to drive but a little care is needed crossing some bridges where rivers have erroded the road a little. Turn right at Issafen and the road all the way to Tata is good, very good long stretches at 100kph. Again some bridges need to be taken at a slower speed.
Now, trying to fill a sodding form in at the municipal swiming pool aire. Very, very hot here and will push on to Zagora tomorrow. Will post some pictures later as I need to get Google Translator on the go.

Enjoyed Essaouria today, had lovely lunch in a square full of restaurants. Very touristy of course but souks are not so "intimidating" as other big towns. We like very much. As Colin/Tina don't walk so well took petit taxis back to parking - 7Dh. Surprised when they insisted they would only take 3 pax!

@Theonlysue there's no guardian parking in the town now, nearest is Essaouria Plage about 1km south behind the sand dunes towards the lighthouse (and it's official, got signs etc). Hence the taxis.

We're thinking of moving on to Safi tomorrow, to Camping International. Got the co-ords (thanks Jeanette) but Camper Contact has indifferent reviews, specifically dirty water. Anyone got any thoughts? We need hookup and facilities for couple of days.

we stayed there 5 days on way down , clean water and service points the site is clean and secure , park at the other side of the empty swimming pool for the best sunshine , showers etc poor ... use your own .
Amazing souke streets , go out the site gate turn right , cross the road walk down over the x roads past the mosque on the right ,
turn left up side road at next x road past the patiseries ,
the site is in front of a huge horse racing circuit and has a good resteraunt ( turn left out of the gate ) ,

The road between Azgour and Issafen. (As promised)
Nope! 20 minutes and still not loaded. Will try another time.

Hi terry, we stayed there. It is not the best. It's a bit tricky to get water as it is down a unmade slope. Could be best to join hoses together. Pitches are flat and the leccie works. Taxi ride into town 10dh. Pottery souk worth a visit. There are two mosques close by in a shout off every morning. Site run by a Brit who inherited it. It's better than El jadida though. All the info is on our blog. I have put up an interactive Google map with co-ords pics etc. the R301 is a great drive. Bit broken and some heavy lorries. Oualidia is a great place to stop. Flamingo central. Cheers eamonn

That's el jadida campsite not town.

Was at Safi 2 days ago. Friendly staff. Grey dump and main water source only accessable down a very damaged track that I decided not to attempt. Other tap (opposite resturant) With extremely lony hose on it. Asked staff they said it was good for cooking washing etc. but declined to say drinking. We have nature pure anway so didn't worry. 7 MADS petit taxi to town. Noisy mosque mineret as a nieghbour!

Left Tata about 09.30 and now 2o k from Zagora. The road from Tata to Foum Zguid (Maps.me) is 100 kph and we sat in the. Middle of the road with the cruise control on and away we went. A great road, we saw little to no traffic and could have comfortable drove faster. The road from Foum Zguid is not quite as good, the first 20 k's limit you to around 60-80kph. (Not a sodding pot hole in site). There a a couple of diversions around damage road, all short except one stretch about 2k, after that the road opens up again and it's 100kph and great to drive. Now having tea at side of road (well on nearby track to be more accurate) and will stay in zagora today and do final leg to Mazouga tomorrow. Will attempt to put some pictures up to night. Oh! by the way someone turned the heat on over here, now showing 30+ in the shade. chin chin.

Some recent campsite prices. The Municipal at Tata Campsite full so in over spill next door infront of swimming pool entrance. 40 MAD without Lecce per 24 Hrs. The palmeries at Zagora, 70 MAD including lecce. Mena says showers passable and warm, toilets acceptable. Guy on top of office now fixing WiFi for only Brit on site........me! Everything now being charged up, tooth brushes etc, as first time we have had lecce for 40 days. Even Lap Top is behaving. Off for a body de-gunge then I'll post some snaps.........or open a barrel of Heineken and get shit faced.
