The only bad news for me is a death in the family so am going to fly home before Christmas fly back for new year, you wont believe this but this happened to me last year which is why I never made Morocco. Cant believe its happened again???

poxy computers it just cut me off lol

Thats the problem with getting older Chris. We spend more time going to funerals than weddings and christenings.
Hope all goes to plan. Dont worry about the weather, we will bring our own sunshine.

No gas at agadir

Hi Dave

Not long now until you are over here.

We are about 25 km north of Agadir, we are on a site and are moving south on 3rd Jan.

We met a very nice couple a few miles back at Mouley Bousselham, who are over here with their caravan. We have told themabout you and your "convoy" and they e-mailed me today and asked if I would let you know about the gas in Agadir

Could you also drop a message on Motor Home Fun please to let people know that the Agadir LPG Refill place is no longer providing this service as they distribute only.
We tried on the way out today and were told to go to Marrakech!

Hope this info is of use to you. We are enjoying Morocco, met some very nice people. Did I mention it's hot..:Cool:

See Ya Sue  & Dave :beerchug:

Hi Sue and Dave, glad to hear your enjoying it . The gasworks north of Agadir has not allowed filling for some time now. That used to be the only one I knew. Have heard several times about the one in Marrakesh but have never used it personally. I always use Moroccan bottled gas over there so have never needed LPG.

morrocan meet

Hi, can you explain the morrocan gas please as i have refillables but reading this thread, i may not be able to refill over there

Hi Sue, A Moroccan bottle has the same left hand thread as a UK Calor bottle, so if you do run out then just take one of your bottles off and stick it in the shower and replace it with a Moroccan bottle.

Hero....

I hope you lot appreciate Mr Snowbird.

We paid Desert Detours £2000 for the same trip. He paid campsites, ferry and an excellent last night meal but after that Snowbird is providing the same for free.

The power of FUN.

I have to second that, think it is amazing what Dave is doing, we did the same as Brian bet you will all have a amazing time, we do have some very caring sharing Funsters on here.

Third vote from me...:thumb:

I have read lots of info on how to make the trip independant but will be great to have someone "holding our hands".. AND it's another drinking buddy to add to my list..

We are only maybe doing a month over there on this trip but hopefully it will give us an insite ready for longer trips...

Desert Detours was 3 weeks.

Hi Brian, how far did you actually travel in Morocco in the 3 weeks. Am not really sure how many miles we did last year in Morocco, I think it was somewhere around 2000 in 90 days.
We did spend quite sometime parked up in Marrakesh, Agadir, and Zagora.

many thanks to Dave for agreeing to take us all to Morocco. Van in for Service and MOT today. Will be leaving UK around 9th Jan looking forward to meeting everyone on the Morocco convoy.:thumb:

Hi Brian, how far did you actually travel in Morocco in the 3 weeks.

Good question. It was April 2009. Not many miles is the answer from memory, guess 1400. Cueta down to Marrakesh, across to Essaouira back up to Cueta. Taking in Ray's standard "classic" stops.

Here's his map.....

Thats not a bad route for a 3 week trip Brian. I know you wont have much time to sightsee and sit in the sun but it gives the traveller a good taste. Personally I like the coast south of Agadir, Tiznit and Zagora. We like to spend 20 or 30 days down in Zagora depending on the weather. I used to like the area just north of Agadir, but since the problems with wilding there its become expensive if you use the campsites. Am taking the sand rail for the first time this year so we will be able to tread where no motorhome has trod before :Rofl1: Am looking at a set of these for the funsters to travel in.
The worse bit is normally the easy bit, travelling through France and Spain between the Christmas and New Year holiday. Am generally down in Spain well before the New Year.

It did just that. I feel daft now but before we thought Morocco was going to be so alien to us. If anything, it was too "same". The lush green in the north, the French shops, the supermarkets, credit cards, electricity. Girls in miniskirts on scooters. Range Rover Sports. I think Morocco is vanishing fast.

Then we see traders refilling car batteries on the pavement, welding doors on the pavement, meat hung up covered in flies, donkey transport and realise this isn't quite full on western civilisation yet.

Thats the main reason we like Morocco. Its full of diversity. Have seen a man with a 10 furrow plough in one field and across the road a man with an ox and wooden plough. The biggest surprise for many is the lush greenery in the north. We prefer the south of the country as its not changed so much, but if you come off the motorway and take the back roads, its not changed much since biblical times, even in the north. We took a road last year only about 50 kms south of Tangier and it took us through villages with chickens running around in the road with grass growing in the main street. Maybe 1 motor vehicle a week goes through there. There is no doubt it is changing but once away from the tourist routes its much the same as its always been.

Sounds like a great trip!

Hi
We did this last Jan/Feb, mainly hugging the Atlantic coast - got to 30km north of Agadir (Pointe Insouane). Recommend you see the Yves St Laurent garden at Marrakech! One day we hope to go back - we loved Essaouira!!

- we loved Essaouira!!

That is where Desert Detours ends and a glorious place to end at. Great for bikes. Once in town it's not too big and the souk is open and bright. There was always great music playing as we walked through.

Wilding it in Essaouira. Some great sunsets and the souk is really eerie at night.
