More money than sense, or impulse buyers...

I am a sucker for a good torch got loads of them but always seem to need another 😂
I also still can't get it out if my head 4yrs ago when the sales guy at the Peterborough show made me believe I needed a Diablo sandwich maker it's still new in the box😂
I have 7 torches in this van ...they've been in every van for the last 5 years , never used any of them as I have a rechargeable inspection lamp I always use

I have a load of new caravan stuff, including a Used Once Kampa 320 Blow Up Awning inc The gale kit poles for the side of the van, 2 Aquarolls, I WasteHog, Alco No ## Wheel lock, Alco Hitch Lock, and a load of other stuff that I cant be arsed to sell on E Bay, its the cost and trouble of posting it that puts me off.
I always intend to bring all the stuff to a Fun Meet Bring & Buy, then I remember we have all got motor homes & Campervans, you ex tuggers on here can probably match my hoard. :giggle:

Have you got one of these in your collection Dave ?

I keep buying Lottery tickets for Motorhome Fun Euromillions Lottery.
Current value £10, by 11pm will have become £0.00.
Chuck it now, save the heartache ;)
Mike

Due to a number of recent family deaths my wife and I have had to clear out 6 properties in the last 18 months.

There is only so much that can go to the charity shop, most of which are now full, they simply are unable to take any more stuff.
We have chucked away bin liner after bin liner of bedding, linen and towels, no one wants it.
Enough art stuff to fill a shop (really)
Photos, thousands of them (we have also kept thousands of them)
Electrical gizmo's of all types.
Tools, more tools and extra tools
Kitchens, again no one wants the stuff, 6 kitchens of plates and pots and pans and glasses and cutlery
TV's: of the 12 TV's we managed to find homes for about 4 of them.
Beds, we have thrown away at least 12 beds, all perfectly usable, some almost like new.
Bottom line is about the only thing worth keeping is gold jewellery (even that we have had problems passing on)

Before you go, convert all your assets into gold sovereigns, your children will thank you.

Ive been at it a couple of years now(whittling down our possessions) carboot, ebay, facebook marketplace, and charity shops, its a lovely feeling,i dont want to leave it for the kids to do,and the house is up for sale as we want somewhere smaller🤞

Sad to hear stuff being thrown away Mr Brains… I am currently working with homeless people refugees and asylum seekers-and there is a great need for these items…. But it is not always possible for charities to store or transport items. Makes me despair at the waste- the unfairness of haves( have loads) and the have nots…not got a solution, jus’ saying.
And sorry for your losses- I know it can be heartbreaking packing up the ephemera of a life xxx

How about a set of Northumbrian pipes, a D whistle, Flute, Bodhran, Cajon, Mandolin and a bloody expensive Celtic Harp none of which can be used by us to make a tune because at 60 odd we realised we are tone deaf 😝😝
impossible 🤣 it’s just your audience 🤣

I am a hoarder by nature but am having to do some serious clearing out as we’re having a new kitchen in the NY and it involves taking a wall down all the way up through two bedrooms upstairs to remove a couple of chimney breasts.

I read an article about “Death cleaning” it’s a Swedish thing that people do in retirement to make it easy on their kids and thought it was a great idea so hopefully I can just carry on. All finances are in order but now it’s “stuff” to clear.

I’ve got a loft full of electronic stuff that I can’t just bring myself to throw away. Some of it is faulty and I used to be able to have a go. Now I can’t be bothered.

The loft has replaced what was named the K-Tel Ronco cupboard under the sink. Therein lay home yogurt makers, lamp-from-winebottle kits, jar opening devices that would look at home in York Dungeon torture room and other wonderful stuff.

In the loft are 2 slim tvs, one fully functional valve hi fi amplifier, a solid state hifi amp, two or three PVRs, a hd satellite receiver and loads of leads, fittings etc. Nobody wants these things and when I think of the price I paid for them, I could gently weep (using the unused Gibson acoustic guitar owned by The Wino )😂
What are the hi for amps?! Might be interested 👍

I haven't got the payload for that one Ken 😂

Hubby is a hoarder and an impulse buyer. Tried to throw two old shirts out only for him to get them out of the bin. We moved 8 years ago to a smaller place. Everything went in the loft. 2 huge boxes of CDs and he managed to get rid of 6. Loads of jigsaws and lamps and leg unopened, the list is endless. The garage well if anyone wants a picture of it I will post one. You can’t even see him !! We will be clearing his mums out soon and if he brings anything home we are getting divorced Lol.

My in-laws are the same, won’t even dispose of broken electrical goods.🤷‍♂️

Won‘t be my problem though, they don’t speak to me.😉

Oooh I know someone who might be interested in your mandolin :giggle: if you're serious about moving it on would you pm me with the details & photo or three please?

& As for buying stuff that's not needed I'm making no comment about my garage & shed

I have a soft spot for a torch too.
My favorite is a USB rechargeable from lidl.
Me too , I actually bought two .I think I've got enough midl of Lidl isle stuff to start my own middle isle , much of it still in the box. My real weakness is the orange label 30% off .I can see four from where I'm sitting at the moment , Digital depth guage £6-99, Wire brush set £2-79, Adjustable and reusable hook and loop cable ties £1-04 and Infrared thermometer £10-49. Loads more in the shed .

So you’re surrounded by that stuff in your living room? 😳😂

I must also hold my hand up. Yesterday I switched a light on, then walked out of the room for 5 min and LEFT IT ON !

Seriously tho, the worst are the tools which Aldi display in their stores, I'm walking round with Mrs Sandancers, surreptitiously putting stuff back on the shelves when she is not looking, then I see a drill sharpener or something. Oh, I MUST have that, how useful it will be ! But of course one failed drill sharpening episode and never used again.
Its only fair to say sharpening drills is a black art and as an apprentice engineer I was taught properly, but I sacrificed many good drills while learning, and hand on heart even at my best they were never as good as when new and bench grinders are scary things !

If you have Facebook marketplace you could put a lot of this on there for free collection. I have passed on dinner services, cups, cutlery, bedding etc and someone will want it.

Cat/dog charities near us are always looking for towels and bedding for the rescue centers when we moved we donated quite a lot of towels (no Mr Brody we do not need 50 dog towels, we've got 50 already! 🙄). We also have a company near us which will collect all furniture on a set day of the week and pass it on to those in need or fix it if it's broken then pass it on. It could be worth seeing if you have something similar in your area.

Sorry for all your loses, what an 18 months you must had had ❤️

Trouble is you always end up throwing away the stuff you should have kept☹️
When we moved from our last house I had a triple garage, single garage 2 20ft sheds and a 10ff shed full of treasures.
Got ruthless and whittled it down to a 20ft container single garage and a couple of sheds, must have filled up about 4-5 large skips sorting it out, now I find myself looking for the stuff I threw out as I need it and then have to go out and buy it🤬🤬

What are the hi for amps?! Might be interested 👍
Solid state is Sony TA-FE330 R (70 watts per channel into 4ohms)
Valve amp is AVC KT88 Triode Connection- Lim Signature
