I browse through the "Classifieds" now and then...

And it amazes me how many articles for sale are new or used once or hardly used...

Is it because of more money than sense or I must have one of those...

Or keeping up with the Joneses...!!!

I have done it myself.... buy an item only to be chucked in a locker or in the garage at home and eventually given away to make room for the next purchase I don`t really need....

Am I - was I the only one...

Come on own up.... :giggler:

I must also hold my hand up. Yesterday I switched a light on, then walked out of the room for 5 min and LEFT IT ON !

Seriously tho, the worst are the tools which Aldi display in their stores, I'm walking round with Mrs Sandancers, surreptitiously putting stuff back on the shelves when she is not looking, then I see a drill sharpener or something. Oh, I MUST have that, how useful it will be ! But of course one failed drill sharpening episode and never used again.

How about a set of Northumbrian pipes, a D whistle, Flute, Bodhran, Cajon, Mandolin and a bloody expensive Celtic Harp none of which can be used by us to make a tune because at 60 odd we realised we are tone deaf 😝😝

I don't think that being tone-deaf ever stopped some from bashing away on a bodhràn...........as a famous irish musician once quipped when asked how best to play one answered; "with a pen-knife!" ;)

I have boxes of bits and pieces most used but I guess the kids will dispose of when I pop off, 12v macerator and flat hoses , anti flappers for awning and other bits from RV days as well as numerous hand and power tools . Then all the fantastic gizmos used once and forgotten , I think I must have kept at least one gent from PRC employed :giggler:

It often seems to be drive away awning / safari type rooms for sale, used once.
They seem like a good idea but in practice a waste of time ?
Yep - got a safari room with the (used & first) van, looked like it had never been used. Put it up, which is a faff - ahh, the van is now pegged down in one place. A faff to take down if you want to use the van, plus it's bulky and heavy once packed up.

Straight on Ebay and sold to another innocent! ::bigsmile:

I guess they work well if you're the kind of person who spends a long time parked up on one site without going out in the van. which we're not.

Mrs F laughed at me today when I revealed that in the garage I have a specific box of old sockets and any other round bits of metal. Well, if you need to press a bearing in or out and you need something of just the right diameter......

I pity the kids when I eventually shuffle off. Especially as at some point I'll inherit my father's garage full of "useful stuff" as well, though he is admittedly better at having a clear out than I am.

Don’t laugh but I attended a weekend workshop to learn Bodhran playing, needless to say I still cannot play it and I now know I hate Guinness 😝

I’ve got a loft full of electronic stuff that I can’t just bring myself to throw away. Some of it is faulty and I used to be able to have a go. Now I can’t be bothered.

The loft has replaced what was named the K-Tel Ronco cupboard under the sink. Therein lay home yogurt makers, lamp-from-winebottle kits, jar opening devices that would look at home in York Dungeon torture room and other wonderful stuff.

In the loft are 2 slim tvs, one fully functional valve hi fi amplifier, a solid state hifi amp, two or three PVRs, a hd satellite receiver and loads of leads, fittings etc. Nobody wants these things and when I think of the price I paid for them, I could gently weep (using the unused Gibson acoustic guitar owned by The Wino )😂

I am a sucker for a good torch got loads of them but always seem to need another 😂
I also still can't get it out if my head 4yrs ago when the sales guy at the Peterborough show made me believe I needed a Diablo sandwich maker it's still new in the box😂

I have a soft spot for a torch too.
My favorite is a USB rechargeable from lidl.

I have no idea what any of you are talking about…..how stupid is it to collect stuff because you think it’ll be useful one day……got a garage, cellar and workshop full of useful stuff I know I will need one day.🤣

Anyone need some snow chains ❄️

Just dumped a set of those, gave them along with other "no longer needed " stuff to the local "costa" when he came around ringing his bell. Tyre irons, bearing pullers, Clutch aligners & stuff I've dragged through 3 Countries and never used again since I rebuilt my Sunbeams and Midget in NZ
