More Lithium Sir?. Yes that would do nicely Thank you.

I'm thinking on the same lines...Thanks for heads up...😃🇪🇺
Which reminds me Martin,& for MisterB also,if you want an external 220v mains socket Mennekes do a 90º female to cable to female adaptor so the cable is hanging down straight to the floor,on which you add another female socket (for the incoming cable)& which has a flap on the opposite side to where it plugs in in the van allowing a 2pin earthed plug to use the power.

I obtained one at a car boot sale in the Uk when I purchaseda 25m cable with a bag of fittings for 8 quid.

Unfortunately not....that was another option I considered...I did spend endless hours trying different options.....and it all came back to Roamer 230ah seat box....what they offered me as a returning customer was enough to clinch it.....and as and when we change our van, they come with us....and I return everything to standard....Roamer give a 10 year guarantee.,..

£8....I rest my case....when I get back to Murcia, you can be my financial advisor, I must be going wrong somewhere..🤔🇪🇦

My wife is talking about replacing our home gas hob with an induction. I get it's advantages (easy to clean, controllability, not sure about running cost - I'm thinking gas is cheaper?) but there is something about real flames. I like my log burner, my gas hob, my charcoal BBQ....

You won't see a Chef using an induction....but I changed the one in our apartment...they are very efficient and controllable....very much like myself..😃🇪🇺

Thanks but it doesn't actually provide me with what I wanted, though it might be useful for anyone else. A three way splitter might also provide the same additional outlet, though I would def recommend that some sort of protective devices are incorporated if anyone used that alternative option.

I just cannot pass up ehu cables that are cheap. I mean where can you buy cable ,either 1,5mm2 or 2,5mm2, 25m in length for 8 pounds? Leaving aside the plug & socket on each end.
Last year I came across a gaslow fitting kit/bottle connectors& regulator. Brand new & unused .I think i got that for 8 pounds also? Just need to find a decent 6kg refillable bottle.

I’ve just had a Fogstar 300ah lithium fitted under the seat of my Fiat fitted on its side with the terminals facing forward. More power and similar price to the under seat version.
My next van is going to be a Fiat....my Hymer on a Renault has a very low seat box...and not even a flat surface to mount a battery on..there is a metal raised inspection cover in the floor....forward facing terminals is a good idea....not much chance of the seat frame coming into contact with them...👍

Apparently many chefs in professional kitchens now do use induction. This according to my dad, who is a chef. But can’t use induction due to having a pacemaker
James Martin uses his induction hob on every episode of his Saturday morning cooking show. He's the Boss's eye candy. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. ;)

Thanks for that tip about Pacemakers, I have neighbours who have them....great excuse for not inviting them around....🤭

I really didn't know their popularity with Pro -Chefs......makes me feel that I'm keeping up with the times having one in the apartment and a single portable one for the van...
How's that for Mr 21st century.🤓🇪🇺

We have the full selection of cooking gear, running 2 x 460ah batteries, victron throughout with 3kva inverter. They are fogstar but roamer is a far bettery both in construction and the bms, higher max current and more accurate due to lower threshold on current flow. I have trade access for romaer if anyone would like a good price.

Me....but I've bought mine and paid for it....😭

yes my Transit has the starter battery under the seat at the back.I did have originally an agm leaisure battery that I mounted in front of it but the seat had heating & something else electrical that I cannot remember & combined with the lumbar , seat back angle, back rest adjustment & seat base up & down adjustment the cables wires & springs that are within half a gnats lape* of the battery terminals gives me sleepless nights🤯.Fortunately with only the starter battery still there that has a plastic cover that I always make sure is in place so that I do not end up electrocuted & on fire:Eeek:

jumar - back on topic ..

I forgot to add that when cooking (as I am not allowed to call it BBQing) outdoors using my external 240v outlet, I also use a camping type extension lead with four sockets which has RCD protection, the type that usually just plugs into the site electrics for those camping in tents - I probably don't actually need the safety aspects and I never have more than one appliance on at a time, but it gives me some peace of mind .. I'm sure a single plug in type RCD would provide the same 'assurance' if you felt you needed it.
Any reason why a plug-in RCD couldn't be used at the Inverter socket, I'm planning to supply just 2 van sockets from this source.. I've got just one at the moment...or is it good practise to have one nearer the appliance...?

I've recently seen the Australian Gadget John on You Tube....nice guy, but he made a video that was so dangerous when he wired his 240v circuit in his van from his inverter...but got taken down after loads of complaints...he made a second apologetic video and the correct way to do it.... I'm no expert as you can see...but his second video didn't seem right either.....that's why I ask so much on here..🤓🇪🇺

Richard... don't explain yourself to Peavy ...make him work it out for himself....he speaks better English than us....
But thanks for the explanation, I didn't know that one....I'm still trying to understand Judith's local sayings after more than 43 years...🤭🇪🇺

At Rolls Royce Motors LTD. (over 200 years ago when I was an apprentice), we used to say 'a gnats cock' when asking for a very small amount of whatever it was you needed.

Just to clarify.... I'm not an electrician or electronics person to be able to tell you how to do it. I only know what I've done works!!

I have a Renogy 3kw inverter with 2 x 240v sockets. I wired each socket up to 2 or 3 x 240v outlets, using 2.5mm cable (1.5mm would have been sufficient as it's rated up to 16A but I had some 2.5 multi stranded flexible cable, so I used that.

The inverter pass through when on EHU is fed via the standard circuit board with RCD protection and I also fitted a surge protection device. I wanted to be comfortable with using the outside 240v socket which is why I use a fly lead with the camping 'consumer unit' at the other end, where I can plug in whatever I want to use. I'm sure it's not necessary but neither Isobel on a bicycle....(,knock knock)

On that basis, I don't see why a plug in RCD can't be used at the external 240v socket as a fly lead and a double outlet added at the other end. The camping consumer unit though does have it's advantages in that it's 'waterproof' and has a couple of usb outlets so phone charging etc is easier when sat outside ... This is similar to what I'm using,, though mine has two USB charging points

Thanks MisterB, that's sorted some issues I had spinning around in my head...👍🇪🇺

I did think about fitting a schuko type socket instead of a standard 3 pin socket but was concerned that a potential owner further down the line may try to connect it to the site hook up somehow .....

There is another type of 3 pin outlet mounted inside a deeper recessed box that I did consider using but it's a much bigger hole to cut into the motorhome!!

This is what I thought might protect the inverter....plug this in at the 220v socket that powers the appliances....

We bought a tepanyaki and looks forward to buying the Moho it will fit in soon.
My wife is a chef and loves it, I am definitely not a chef and also love it.
Having used it several times over the last month, I wish I'd gone for one a little more square than rectangular.
In fact, I wish I'd gone for the following one....

We have one at home, but I'm not including ours in the MH appliances....we have an induction hob which we can put a pan on to do the same..we don't eat much red meat, but fish and seafood cooks well on these.

I love the term low wattage on that box, if via an inverter 1800 watts plus 10% losses is not low wattage, my system can happily handle it but many will not. 155 amps. will churn through many a battery.

Take care with that. All the UK plug in RCDs I could find were only single pole switching so not suitable for use with many inverters which do not have single polarity.
