Modding the Hymer ML-t 580 4x4

MLT is now sending me abrupt messages ....

"You better turn off your Water Pump .... "

Buy a spare in any case.
We are on our fourth one.
(2018 MLT 570)

I'm looking at reconfiguring the pump system with an external Shurflo pump as the flow / pressure is pretty poor with the OEM set-up. Looks like it would about £120 - £150 in parts and a day of messing around getting it all to fit.

The Shurflo type set up in my previous Carthago was a massively superior water delivery system.

How much!
Cost me about £60 when I did it on my Hymer.

The Reich 19L/1.5bar pump is fine.
The first two went went through as our van was the demo model, and one thing everyone does is open the draws and check the taps.
Of course there would have been no water in the tank, so I guess the first two pumps were burnt out.
The third one lasted about 18 months

The current one I fitted in 2022, and it's still going fine.
I don't find any issues re pressure etc.

I always carry a spare pump!
I think I paid about £25 for the current spare in Austria a couple of years ago.
I see they are about £65 now in the UK !
(So it may be considerably cheaper to buy them on your next trip to the mainland)

Ahhhh,
But will it text you messages to say it's running hot ?

I'm wondering whether the interface between the water pump switch and the Hymer Connect can be fooled. The Hymer Connect panel has a touch screen on/off button for the pump.

Thinking, redirect the power supply to the existing pump to power a relay which would turn on /off the Surflo pump. That way I could turn the Surflo on and off using the Hymer touch screen and the iPhone app.

If that works .. then yes ... it would still send me a text based on "pump = powered on and tank water level = low".

Well that's the theory anyway ....

I had the same message a few weeks ago, pump wasn’t switched on, went in to check just in case, it wasn’t running or hot, tank had been drained though
