MOBY GOES TO TURKEY. A tam and pups adventure.

CaptainPaul why can't we see the painting is a naked life art painting of you done by the local artist:giggle:(y)
No thank your lucky stars its not! Its a beautiful painting of an old medina very skillfully done I'll put it up here when I get home 🙂

Mum's birthday today , she'd have been 80. Funny thing was before she was diagnosed she got annoyed if we said "youre nearly 80 " etc .. but when she knew she wasn't going to reach her birthday she was really annoyed. Was my dad's birthday 3 days ago ... he'd have been 84 if he'd lived. Mum got 19 more years than he did. Brothers nearly the age dad was when he died.

Times a funny old thing really

Cold and raining this morning, thunder storm too. Big difference from the last few days. Hoping it doesn't last . Not even been out our walk yet ...dogs not keen

Has anyone taken their motorhome to Cyprus? .. I was just having a nosey and it's only £55 to take my camper over.
Presumably that's to the northern partition only?
Can you drive through to the greek half these days?

I (think) the ferry goes into Northern (Turkish) Cyprus, then you'd have to cross the border into the south, part of the EU but not sure about Schengen?
Did a few detachments out there (Akrotiri) in the forces over the years, I remember when the Turks invaded Cyprus just after I joined up in 1974, had a few mates out there at at the time.

Yeah shengen not a problem as I had about 3 weeks left from my 90 day allowance anyway. And I plan to go through Bulgaria Romania on return route so by the time I hit shengen again I'll have full allowance.

carolyn did it last year as part of an organised tour. Maybe pm her for some details.
There are few places you can cross the border from the Turkish controlled area into the Republic of Cyprus. Think it requires a temporary importation of the vehicle. Not all crossing points allow this. Insurance required entering north. Not sure if European insurance covers the south.
Wild camping almost everywhere. Camping sites are few and not great. Black waste disposal could be a problem.
If you get here avoid village centres the roads can be extremely narrow.

Yeah I'm not sure if it's worth all the hassle for a couple of weeks or not , I thought the insurance I bought for Turkey would cover me for the Turkish part and my own insurance would cover me for the greek part. Think they temporarily import your vehicle here too in Turkey.

I'd have liked to tick it off as another place visited but not sure I'm up for complications

Hey Tam, instead of faffing about with a battery wrench that might not have enough oomph, or could be flat when you need to use it, get yourself one of these torque multipliers ?

This is my 3/4" drive one and it's removed every bolt it's been used on, from Iveco dual rears to 5 foot tall timber harvester wheels. I lent it out to remove the near side dual rears on a Grafter and they split their chrome socket as they hadn't realised (like TinaLes mentioned) it was a left hand thread !
The 3/4" set is maybe overkill for you ( the box weighs 11kg !) but one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CF2RB68G/?tag=mhf04-21 1/2" drive sets might suit you ?
My 3/4" set was under £60, a hell of a lot cheaper than a Milwaukee impact and never needs charging !
I have one of those. Never fails.
