Mercedes vario 814 self build bus to FLT palace

I say sell it... imagine, if you had an accident while abroad it would be a real kick in the knackers. As said before a bird in bush etc. I would try to get a deposit though. Best wishes whatever you decide...

The vario would never be complete that's for sure.

Dont think he would wait given hes been viewing vans since june and hasn't the money yet.

Don't need the money from the sale ,i have the funds to build the vario ...but would obviously be nice to get top dollar for the hymer.
Flog it.. A bird in the hand and all that.................

Gotta comment on the project van........... Mate, that is gonna be THE most solid well preserved one in existence by the time your finished..
Absolutely top job...........

Don't know much about pensions. Would the guy definitely be able to access a lump sum as soon as he is retired in August or could there be some legal wranglings drawing out the process?

It would be a long time for you to wait until you get away again if you sell Toby.
I retired from the Fire Service in Scotland 3 yrs ago. Pension paid in 1st of tithe month like clockwork also lump sum on retiral date.
Shouldn't be an issue with getting the cash on his retiral date if that's the end of August.
Good luck enjoying following your build. 👍

I'm in the sell camp, the way you are getting on with the new one, I'd like a bet it will be done in time to get away in.
Ha theres not a chance of that charlie ...8 weeks. Ill be lucky to have the welding done and it watertight by then

Do what your Mum tells you to do, of course :)
I'm surprised at you Janine ... would you do what your Mum said in relation to a MH! I wouldn't!!! :giggle:

Another sill panel on once id removed yhe eyesore the first welder had put in ... finished off the one from yesterday with filler and primer and keyed and sprayed the front panel

Ive decided to let jeff the fireman come to view Toby on Saturday ...that way I won't feel like ive perhaps missed a trick ...if its meant to be then it will be . Ive told him that if he wanted it id require a £1k deposit on it to hold it till start of September. That would give me time to crack on with the vario and see where im at. He has a cheap caravan at the minute that he wants 800 quid for so that would perhaps do me for a few months or give me an interior that i could fling in the vario for the winter 😁

If he doesnt buy it then nothing lost.

I tell you that black paint just finishes everything off beautifully.

Did you have enough sill?
Should have plenty hopefully ive only used one of the lengths so far

Dear God what the **** is that??
I think the windows need cleaning ?

Or for the price of a relay and one more connection it'll retract when D+ goes live.
That sounds excellent, unfortunately I have no idea how to do it. Still I can get someone who can. Is it a long job?

I have a little bit of a dilemma ....well not so much a dilemma but a decision to make and not sure whats best.

Back in june i had a guy enquire about buying Toby but he didn't get his money till august as he's a retiring fireman .

I hadnt heard from him again but now he's back in touch and very keen ....but still not got the cash till end of august.

So im undecided as whether i should sell it and possibly forego my winter break , continue working on the merc over the winter etc

Or whether to keep a hold of it till next year when the market might not be as good.

If i sold it id be sticking to the full price of £27.5k thats why its tempting to sell.
Hmm. difficult one but as my old mum used to say "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"

Just be careful it's not a fraudster impersonating a fireman???

Not saying he is but it wouldn't be unheard of.....?

Keep up the good work!

Cheers James

Ill get him to carry me up a ladder that will flush out any fraudster

Get the mans money as soon as possible or you may live to regret it, and a minimum £5k deposit, that way you know he’s coming back
Ive decided to leave it to fate ...if they want it ill sell it . Ive told him a grand deposit ...im cool with that as if he doesnt buy it ill keep the grand . Im lucky to be in the position at present that im not fussed either way .

I dont think Tams fully committed to the sale anyway so not that bothered of he doesn’t come back
