Mercedes vario 814 self build bus to FLT palace

Apparently if it's the Indian manufactured astra zenica jab you develop a fetish for curry's, 😷😁

Apparently if the vaccine batch you’ve had your jab from came from India then the EU have not approved that - yet! So basically you are stuffed!!!!!! Unless of course the individual European Countries realise there’s an idea here?

They will shortly. Its the same vaccine with a different branding that's all

Well they are all still undergoing clinical trials till 2023 anyway lol....we are basically all the ginue ( spelling ) pigs. With also no comeback apparently but what can you do eh? I didn't want it i only got it for 2 reasons
1) peer pressure and being moaned at
2) i want oot this blooming country in october and its likely id be denied entry without having had one.

Ive certainly very little faith in it working and a little miffed that the male nurse who administered it tells me my age my weight etc im in the at risk of clots etc from it .....filled me with confidence he did lol.

But hey ho apart from a slight temperature and a bit tired ive no side affects yet as such. Off to work now

Someone I chat to walking the dog is late 30's early 40's, she got a blood clot in her ankle, very painful but 3 days of tablets and that was that. She is slim and in to running, so you cant generalise like the nurse did. It was Astra Zenica and they said she'd better not have that again, so she got Pfizer for the 2nd despite early advice being you cant mix them. They just make it up as they go along!

Well after my vario sitting at a welders for the last 2 weeks and him not looking near it ive picked it up from there this morning and brought it back to mums.

Ive lost the will to live with welders now so im just going to have a go myself and see whats what ....its that or sell it as i just cant find a welder who actually wants the job around here ....10 weeks in total now its spent sitting in welders yards and only 2 actual days of any of the working on it ...

So im going to concentrate on one area at a time and see how i get on .

So i may aswell start with the bits that concern me most which is the front near side inner wheel arch ,doorstep and cabfloor ...so tomorrow im going to strip the lights out , the wing off and the front wheel to give me better access to all this rot.

Caught a bit of a program on R4 Saturday they were talking to doctors.
They were saying hospitals were still under immense pressure at 90 - 95% capacity from non-Covid patients.
The Covid patients they are seeing now are unvaccinated 30-40 year olds. The only vaccinated patients they seeing are those with severe underlying conditions.

Tam,
Just remember…….you can’t weld rubber—- those tyres don’t even need to get warm!!!!! :ROFLMAO:
Ive never welded a darn thing (can you tell?!;)),but I’m sure your own welding skills will come flooding back to you in time to make a good job of it. Surely it’s better to do an easy bit first so you can get your hand in…as .
the actress said to the bishop;):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Good luck with it.

Normally yeah but i really need to see that step and floor back in to make me feel better as its a mess right now

I’ve been following your build and if your going ahead on your own can I suggest you try this…..
Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 Rust Killer Barrier System 500ml bottle. Sixteen quid or so on eBay and it’s absolutely brilliant. Clean any loose rust and treat the area with it and I stops it coming back, ready to weld or paint, top stuff.

Good luck, Tam. I can imagine your frustration, nothing annoys me more than people making promises tbey have no intention of keeping.
I'm sure if you think things through and tackle it piece by piece you will end up doing a good job. It may be slower and take longer but will be a great job when you are done. 😁

Well im knackered tonight just on the stripdown ....it took me 2 hours to get the NSF wheel off the van ... seriously tight wheel nuts and threads ....1/4 at a time having to stand on the steel bar on each of the 6 nuts .... spent a good 20 minutes on the last one before i realised it wasn't coming off but the whole stud with nut was turning so i ended up having to cut the last nut off and knock the stud out the hub....ill have to buy a new stud and nut for that wheel .... possibly a few if them or a new hub as it looks quite worn at the back . Other than that everything stripped off quite easy ....now thats off i can cut out more rust and clean up the area ready to graft some new metal in ...

Revealed some solid bits though which is a nice contrast to the rust

What rust proofer do you recommend?

I'm going to do my transit before winter.

Cheers James

I think the main thing is preparation before putting any underseal type stuff on ... Most dont even have any proper paint on them. And too many folk spray stuff over exsisting rust which hides the problem rather than cures it. Ill be priming, painting over all of this once its welded ...then waxoyl in the cavities and stone guard over the paint on the outside

Tam, when I was doing up morris minor's I had a mobile welder come round and welded up chassis members that were quite thick. Are there any round your way?

Tam, there’s a man near me that does site welding. Makes gates, railings etc. Just a thought as to whether there is anyone like that near you.

Tried them all ...either all too busy or as soon as you mention its a vehicle bodywork they are off 🤷🏻‍♂️ can't give money away at the minute it seems.

So more stripping down this morning so i now have the whole front end off the van and both wheels off to give me better access

Van currently looks like this 😁

Or at least it did ....for a little while .

Went and got myself some welding gas ...had to take out a rental contract 🤦‍♂️ £110 ....and a sheet of steel 2m x 1m ripped off at £47 😱 but that let me get on .......so i started with the fairly easy bits on the NSF inner wing
