Mercedes vario 814 self build bus to FLT palace

Way above my skill level lol
Worth a mention Tam... which you may well of thought of already but..........................
If you are going to make the pods ensure the edges and corners are well rounded other wise you may well fall foul of uses and construction regs mate

It begs the question in the future should there be a button where the original thread starter can stop someone posting on THEIR thread. You are deliberately being annoying and disruptive mate I woulrnt have the audacity to do it.
There’s an ignore button that anyone can use

Sorry guys for losing patience ....@jim is now saying that the ignore function stops the person from viewing or commenting on the thread which must be a new feature as it didn't do that before.....but if it does then fair enough.

I certainly can no longer see any of the comments so im guessing jim has put him on ignore for me as I didn't.

Anyway im well aware that im rapidly becoming a grumpy old git but i just can't see the point in folk following a thread if it doesn't interest them or going out their way to purposely derail it or just wind folk up for a reaction.

Ill update it when theres something to post 👍
Tam, Thanks for sharing your time & energy on your various threads which I follow with interest.
I find it sad and I really can't understand why some individuals set out and continue to be disruptive, negative and deliberatively provocative on here. I think you do a great job in 'managing' them ....I personally wouldn't have the patience. I am glad that you are continuing and that the moderator has taken action...Good luck!

Its not flush ....it sticks out about 60mm either side ...so a six inch gain roughly

Im 6ft 3 and the vario is about 5 foot 11 wide i think
Just don't forget about that extra width as you head down a narrow alley or tunnel 🤯

At last, the joys and benefits of being a short a*se 🤣🤣
Hope that's not caused by the eye problem Val :giggle:? Is it sorted now?
Pleased this thread is back on track too Tam. I'm learning a lot from you and the other positive posters on here so thanks aw'body (y)

Hi, thanks for asking. I got the all clear on the eye at the hospital last week. They say there is no sign of tbe clot now and hopefully it won't recur.
The last bit didn't inspire me too much but the eye does certainly feel better now and I am definitely glad I've not got more injections into my eye to look forward too. 😊😎

Will all be treated with kurust then painted with rust encapsulator , then red oxide and hammerite over the top .... and the underside will be stone chipped over that . Waxoyl pumped in to the sills etc

Errrm, how long did you say this project would take? ;)

How about krust, zinc primer, and hammerite / under seal underneath. 3 coats to speed things up?

also any put foam in hollow members. It would flush out any water and seal them up????

cheers James

Don't know what got in to him to be honest ...i thought he was alright generally and id have met up with him in greece when i was there for a bleather. But for some reason he's turned in to an arse since i asked him to keep the brexit stuff off the thread .... Maybe alcohol induced who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️
Careful Tam some may not be able to see your thread anymore but it doesn't mean that Rule 1 has disappeared .... ;) ... don't want you to get yourself banned from your own thread!

Why not go the whole hog & put in a "slide out" ?

 :whistle2:
Yeah ... just think how much fun Tam and the dogs could have with one of these out of the rear window! :giggle: (My dogs LOVE slides when they get the opportunity to sneak into a park and use them!)

Hey Tam. We haven't had an update for a long time.
Yep its been lying down at a garage that was supposed to be fabricating me some panels ...but they've done nothing in the 10 days theyve had it so im going to remove it from them today .

That’s the problem when you are keen to get on always waiting on others to get there finger out :(
It is a little ...i dont understand these folk to be honest. When i drove it down there 2 weeks ago to ask if they could do it he said yes drop it off monday and we will get on with it. I dropped it off 10am they never looked near it till the Thursday when they then cut off one inner sill and one outer so they could copy them .
It then lay outside again till monday past and when i went there on monday to see what was happening they hadn't done anything...i got a load of excuses and the the boss guy dissapeared. Drove down again yesterday to see him and he wasn't in and van still not touched. So i told his receptionist i was collecting it today as the blacksmith needed it ...thought that would save any aggro from him.
But at the minute a they have done is make it look worse than it was and more noticeable on the road.

Ive someone else that might be able to do it in a week or so but at least if i have it back here i can carry on cleaning up and painting the floor supports and chassis etc.

The blacksmith should actually be getting in touch soon to do the bike carrier framework.

Just have to be patient i guess as this stuff all needs done properly

Northernraider Just catching up on this thread and so pleased you have decided to carry it on Tam.
I must confess to not really being interested in all the technical stuff, just check out your pictures at the moment. But I am looking forward to when it starts coming together more and seeing your interior design skills making the van into a home for you and your doggies.
ps don’t let the b*****s grind you down
