Majestic 196....Y/N

Folks I take it you can't walk on the roof of a Majestic 196 ..for cleaning and polishing purposes??

I wouldn’t risk it. We had two Elddis motorhomes and I never walked on either of them. The roof Construction is a thin “floating” aluminium sheet which would be easily damaged.

This I similar to the control panel that's in the MH that we are getting ...one of the buttons has a "battery" symbol on it and in videos I've seen of hand overs the person say " push the this button to check the battery levels 😳..which battery level the leisure one or the engine one ?? ..or is there some way on that panel that will let u check both 🤔 (click on the photo to show panal )

It will check the leisure battery only. It is a very basic gauge just a series of green yellow and red bars. You will need to keep an eye on your starter battery as Elddis don’t usually wire it into the charger or solar panel. Mine used to go flat if the motorhome wasn’t used for 3 weeks. Best to get a battery master fitted.

Not sure !! Are the sides and rear all GRP ??

On mine which was a 2019 model, the sides were GRP but the back and roof was aluminium.
May 2021 ours will be...how do I find out what the rear is made of? looks like that control panel only shows 1 water tank..is it the fresh tank 🤔

Battery master . It’s a little matchbox sized device that detects when the engine battery is lower than the leisure battery . It then trickles some electric from the leisure to the engine battery . Of courseu to keep the leisure charged up you need it plugged in ( EHU) or connected to a solar panel. It’s Sold by Vanbitz (there are other similar devices around. ) Enjoy the van . Expect some issues cos we all get them! But overall make memories .

Hi peeps I don't suppose anyone with an Elddis knows if the factory fitted solar panel charges the leisure battery and also the engine battery??

Normally they fit Truma PWM solar charge controller which has an output to the leisure and starter battery and you can select the percentage of the solar output that you want to go to each battery.

It just charges the leisure battery, you need a battery master from the leisure batt to starter batt for that to charge ,but your alternator charges both when on the move. Also in ehu your starter will not be charged unless you have a battery master.

Yes but you have to connect that yourself ,it's not factory wired up like that. But simple to do .

No solar on our van when we bought it, but would probably have binned it if had of come with the Truma setup as it would not have suited our needs.

A neighbour a couple of doors down bought a new Majestic 125 and that came with the Truma solar setup and as you say the starter battery was not cabled to the solar charger.
I thought that this was an oversight, so he complained to the Majestic branch at Northampton where he bought it, and they wired in the starter battery to the controller FOC.

It's only one wire to the starter and one to earth so no big issues and easily wired through .Much the same as a battery master really..The Truma controller is only suitable for 1 panel.I switched mine to an mppt and added another panel but use the Truma now as a seperate controller for a loose panel.

Remember folks
I'm new to all this so I'm waiting to we get the van next Thursday...excited but also nervous of all this new stuff ...but me and the wifey are grateful to the advice I am getting here 🙏

Remember that there is no such thing as a stupid question when it is all new to you, so ask away if you need answers as we have all been in your position when we started out.
