We enjoyed the rally at Lymington this year https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...-isle-of-wight-more-rally-august-2018.161595/ & had some wonderful feedback from Funsters & RVOC members & there is so much more to see & do there so we are running this one again in 2019.
Lymington Seafood Festival https://www.lymingtonseafoodfestival.co.uk/ is free entry on both Saturday & Sunday in a park on the edge of the harbour. Both there & a short walk away in the town there is some great fresh seafood & other food & drink treats galore. The Festival has one main stage with local bands which creates a good atmosphere in a pleasant spot. On Saturday morning there is also the Charter Market which lines most of both sides of the high street as well as having all the shops, pubs & restaurants to visit or just have a coffee (& cake) or ice cream on the quay & watch the crabbing. You can even try crabbing yourselves as the shops nearby sell buckets, lines & bait.
Our rally field is well located with the ferry terminal to Yarmouth on the Isle Of Wight & the train (2 minute trip) across to Lymington town just a short walk away, a spa & café in the hotel next door, 9 hole golf course & crazy golf across the road, a pleasant longer walk up a country lane to a dog friendly pub which does a popular carvery on Sunday & Monday, a bus stop across the road for New Forest Bus who have open top tour buses that go to Beaulieu Motor Museum, Sammy Miller Museum, Brockenhurst & Lyndhurst in the New Forest , Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway, New Forest Activities , New Forest Wildlife Park, Ringwood Brewery , New Forest Cider, Burley Fudge & Milford On Sea where you can paddle in the sea plus walk to Hurst Castle. The Bus can take a limited number of bikes & dogs too. There are some scenic walks mostly on footpaths & swimming in the open air sea water pool. Will add more detail about things to do & places to visit nearby (there’s a lot!) & in the area later.
It’s possible to walk (mostly footpath) from the rally field to the town but if it’s busy with traffic then more pleasant to take the short hop on the train. We hope to have a Bring & Buy Sale & many evening social gatherings (weather permitting) in the rally field but other than that it’s up to you to get out & about to make the most of your stay either by yourselves or team up with others or just relax in the field with the company of fellow Fun & RVOC members.
Thanks to @Mr Chrysalis there is a coach tour on the Isle Of Wight too planned which was very popular last year - see here for more info. https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/lymington-2019-isle-of-wight-coach-trip.195126/ & to get your names on the list for a place.
Arrivals day is Friday 9 August from 11am-8pm - please note that you need to arrive on this day to come on this rally. Departure by 11am on Wednesday 14 August.
Cost is £53 total per motorhome (campervan, PVC, RV, Fifth Wheeler or caravan - we like them all :giggle:) for 5 nights for maximum of 2 adults - please contact us if you require more than this. £10 non-refundable deposit & your completed booking form are required to secure your place then the remaining £43 by 10 July 2019 so four weeks before the Rally - payment to be made by Paypal Friends & Family or bank transfer. Full details will be on the booking form.
Location is a large flat camping field behind Bamptons Farm, Lisle Court Road, Lymington SO41 5SH ( postcode is not exact please see here https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/50°45'32.2"N+1°31'23.8"W/@50.759015,-1.5225652,227m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x0:0x0!7e2!8m2!3d50.7589472!4d-1.5232664 )

Facilities are basic with three fresh water standpipes & an Elsan point with rinsing water supply - please use either no chemicals or eco friendly ones like Aqua Kem Green. We will ensure that enough space is kept clear around the water points to drive up for refilling but best to arrive with full water & empty waste tanks if you can.
Rubbish - there will be crates for all mixed recyclables & all other waste should be put in black bin bags (please bring plenty for yourselves) in the trailer - disposal of these is included in Rally cost .
Access to the camping area from the road is good with a 16 foot gateway & no height restrictions so even ok for RVs !
Security - the farm entrance gate will be locked overnight from 10pm but we & our fellow Marshals will have access to a key for emergencies & everyone will have our mobile number to reach us throughout the rally. Pedestrian access possible at all times.
Dogs are welcome but must be on leads, in an enclosure or tethered in the rally field. There is a field next door where they can be walked.
Generators can be used but only for short periods when necessary during the day but please let us know on your booking form as you will be pitched away from any it might annoy!
Barbecues are allowed so long as they are off the ground.
Please note that unfortunately this Rally is the same weekend again as Retrofestival Newbury but there is still Retrofestival Newark 7-9 June if you do want to do both.
Campsites in the New Forest are very expensive in August so hope that Bamptons Farm as a low cost option will enable more to come along to enjoy Lymington in the summer.

Booking is closed now as we have a lovely lot of Funsters & RVOC members & not long to go! :hi5:

Suggested itinerary which may change as we get closer to the time:

Friday - Arrivals & invitation to all from 7pm onwards to come along with a mug or a glass full of your favourite tipple & gather in & around the shelter in the "Meeting Area" . All very casual - bring a chair if you like or just wander around & chat to fellow members. No pressure to join in so those that would rather do their own thing then that's fine too. We will probably still be working until 8pm but once everyone is in & we've eaten we'll be there too :hi5:
As we have just one shelter if anyone else can bring anything like the Coleman Event Shelter to add to this that would be much appreciated - please let us know.

Saturday Day
Charter Market 8am-5pm
in Lymington High Street https://www.thenewforest.co.uk/whats-on/lymington-market-p788561 with stalls selling plants, food produce, general household goods, craft items and bric-a-brac - go early for the best choice!
Lymington Seafood Festival 11am-8pm http://www.lymingtonseafoodfestival.co.uk/ - sample the culinary delights & entertainment at this free festival & explore the town.
Take a longish walk back to & over the bridge then follow the crowds turning left into Waterloo Road then past the railway station or the short hop on the train then from the station go left down Mill Lane, through the narrow walkway between the houses (looks like a dead end but isn't!) to Quay Hill then up to the High Street for the town or carrying straight on down Quay Road then Bath Road past Berthon boat yard to the Festival which is on the left before the Yacht Club https://www.google.com/maps/place/L...xf1aa5a6fb050a23!8m2!3d50.755338!4d-1.5304669
Follow their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/lymingtonseafoodfestival/ for the latest info. about what's happening.

Saturday Evening - Meeting Area Social - everyone is welcome to gather in & around the shelters, have a chat, sing a song or just fall asleep in a chair after a busy day!

Sunday Day - Bring & Buy Sale 10am-11am (weather permitting) - all are welcome to bring your unwanted, craft or homemade items (cake? :inlove:) to sell in the rally field. Will start a separate thread nearer to the time so items can be listed on there as well.
Either take a table to the end of your row (so on edge but not blocking the main fire lane) or to near the event shelter (from 9.45am for setting up) to make it easy for potential buyers to find you. Just outside your motorhome is also fine but if you aren't near lots of others selling then may be better to move nearer - it's a big rally field!
Carvery Lunch at the Walhampton Arms 12.30pm - group pub carvery meal (main course £11.95) https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...y-2019-walhampton-arms-sunday-carvery.195811/ reached after a pleasant walk up a nearby country lane - dogs welcome. Book direct with the pub on 01590 673113 & mention that you are part of the "Motorhome Fun Group" so they allocate us tables together. If more than 40 of us are eating then main carvery meal will be reduced to £10 (y) Please book for 12.30pm & those that want to walk can come with us setting off at 11.45am from the rally field for the one mile trek.
Lymington Seafood Festival 11am-6pm - more good food & music.

Sunday Evening - Meeting Area Social - everyone is welcome.

Monday Day - See ideas in the rally description - take your pick as there are a lot!
Isle of Wight group trip with coach tour - see https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...isle-of-wight-coach-trip.195126/#post-3296015 & book your place.

Monday Evening - Meeting Area Social - everyone is welcome.

Tuesday Day - See ideas in the rally description. Perhaps take the bus to Beaulieu Motor Museum, Palace & gardens for the day, play some golf or just relax in the field?

Trust the farmer has fixed the Elsan disposal by next August.
We understand that improvements will be in place to cope with the high volume of waste from so many members!

Hi to all those above who attended or expressed an interest in Stratford River Festival Rally this year :hi: - it would be lovely if you could join us in 2019 - please see details above & your email Inbox for the form if you do want to book.
Please message us if any queries.
Can you please remove me from your email list

Too early to think about next year but thanks anyway.

Martin

Thanks for the invites @Wombles too early to commit as next year is going to be hectic. Stratford probably more likely than Lymington this time, but you never know (y) :)

We would like to be added to the list please.

Did you mean Stratford or Lymington on this thread?

What was broken?
At one point it was struggling to cope with all our waste but @canopus told us & we rang the farmer who was there in minutes to sort it out & he has plans to improve things for next year.

What was broken?

It wasn't a proper Elsan disposal point, it was just a soak away (cess pit) which overflowed. The owner dug a shallow gully into the undergrowth to alleviate the problem. It should have been a buried tank pumped out periodically. Formaldehydes used by many should not be emptied into soak aways. The facility was totally inadequate for the number of motorhomes/RV's and rallies which the owner was accepting.

I hadn’t realised this.from a functional perspective it worked fine. I don’t use formaldehyde but know some prefer it. Glad to hear that the farmer plans to get it fixed though!

The top of the 'vessel' into which the effluent was poured was severely corroded around the neck and leaking out. It was so full it was impossible to empty cassettes. The owner said it had never done that before and dug the gully as a short term fix. He said that the soak away had always been 'ok' on other rallies.

Are we talking about the same thing? I remember it as a ceramic WC bowl coupled with a bucket and hose to use for flushing. I never saw it full, but maybe that was lucky timing!.

The farmer told us that the field had been inspected by Environmental Health & they were happy with the set up for the purpose of the rallies that are held on his land. Bamptons Farm rally field & that Elsan point have been used in the same manner by C&CC & other clubs (for up to 150 units at times) over many years. Understand @canopus your concern though so to err on the side of caution we can ask that members use either no chemicals or only eco friendly ones next year but as mentioned before the farmer has plans to improve the Elsan point.

@Wombles
Is a 5 night stay the only option next year?
Cost is £53 total per motorhome (campervan, PVC, RV, Fifth Wheeler or caravan - we like them all :giggle:) for 5 nights for maximum of 2 adults - please contact us if you require more than this. £10 non-refundable deposit & your completed booking form are required to secure your place then the remaining £43 by 10 July 2019 so four weeks before the Rally - payment to be made by Paypal Friends & Family or bank transfer.

Hi, we had a lovely time this year but have no idea what we will be up to next year yet. Thanks for the heads up :)
