I’m not after a generator 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

I just want a couple of decent batteries lead or lithium powered by around 300w of solar…..👍🏼

Why does everything have to end up in a bloody argument about something not even connected to the question :doh::doh::doh:

If you have a 3kw inverter you would be right on the continuous discharge limit with the Roamer as it's only 250A, the SuperB 340ah is 300A, strangely (or possibly not) the SuperB 210ah is 500A continuous so two of those would trump the Roamer for "bang" but not "bucks"

I guess the lower discharge rate for bigger batteries is a heat issue as the SuperB 160ah is rated at 480A, we have 4 of these (one was part of the Lithium pack when we specced the van, one was an additional option and two more were added later) I don't know the total cost  and I don't even want to work it out  but we have a lot of power ;)
thanks for the info Martin

i’m keen to improve the AH we have on tap but to do so it’s gonna cost circa £4k if I stick with SuperduperB 😄.

To do this I have to either add another 2 of what I have all ready which is not advised, or replace with 2 larger batteries leaving me with the 2 I already have and not being able to sell on. I’d rather get these down the road without having to give them away tbh.

May I ask what charger/solar you have to keep yours topped up because this is also another thing to consider

Al 👍

I added one that had done about the same work as our existing ones, mains charger is 100 or 120 amps, B2B put in about 90 amps and solar 520 watts will put in 30 amps on good day, basically in the summer months we can run whatever we like and never need hook up as solar or B2B is enough, in the winter we deplete our extra capacity over 5 or 6 days (more if we were careful with 240v) then we might need to recharge at home as 500ah takes about 6 hours drive to put back.

usually is irrelevant in the context of a genny being silent, there's either a genny running or there isn't and they are never silent.
Your opinion is equally pretty irrelevant too

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Took you 2 days to come up with that LOL. Never mind the fact it makes zero sense in reply to my statement, it simply shows a refusal to entertain what pretty much everyone else has been saying, but you just want to single me out for some reason.
Crack on sunshine.

With the waiting time for good lithium batteries and the cost I’m now thinking that with 300+w on the roof a victory mppt and two or three good quality gels will probably do me quite well as I’ll be a low leccy user…🤔😎

We have got by with 3 Gels and we are fairly high users so it should do you OK.
Lithium is expensive if it's not going to give you big benefits.

That’s what I was thinking Lenny, just getting carried away with ideas for the new van… if two agm’s lasted me 7yrs in the hymer b544 with two people then I’m sure that will do me in the pvc van for one…😎

You won't be one of the "lithium boys" then tho Garry 😝

Have a look at Fogstar, 15% discount for Funsters.
The 300ah one looks good and seems to be similar size to my existing AGM so will go in battery box.

Cylindrical Li cells are called cylindrical. Rectangular Li cells are called prismatic. Why are they called prismatic when they are not that shape? Does anyone know how the cell industry came up with this peculiar name?

Probably the marketing men makes them sound special.

Does your high usage come from inverter usage Lenny HB? If so, what size inverter do you have?

I keep coming back to these I have to admit. Anyone know if they ever have any sales?

Don't get me wrong, Im already convinced, Im just wondering if I can shave a bit more off the price on top of the funster discount if there's a sale :)
There isn't a discount any more but they have reduced their prices a bit.

That's only happened in the last week then because it was working but they've not changed the prices on any of the LB's I was looking at.

Ah well, the funster discount was the only reason that swung me from going from a new sealed AGM type so looks like someone else will be getting my money :-/

They reduced their prices 8% on the ones I was looking at.
They are still a very good price they use EVE cells and they have a good BMS & built in heat padfor what you get I doubt you find anything comparable anywhere near their prices.

I purchased a 280ah a couple of months ago, one of the cells has been overcharging (shut down by the bms), since fitting.
Fogstar fairly refunded my money, and have asked me to continue using it to try and rebalance the cells?!
Not sure if this was because they were unable to provide a replacement🤔

Does your BMS have a switch to set “Balance only when charging”? If it does, try setting that to off.

Hi Ian
The settings are locked and only accessible with a password.

They asked that you try to balance them; how?

Can you see on the App when they’re balancing?

Does that mean if it sorts itself out you have a free battery?

Full marks to Fogstar for the way they responded.

They have asked that I continue to use it. When I watch the app the cells remain balanced until fully charged then cell four spikes and over charges and the bms switches off charging. It then settles and resets. A overcharge is then stored in the history.

Last type of battery you want for a leisure battery is an AGM.
