Totally agree, if someone is fit then that's fine and whilst its harsh for an individual who's eyesight or health deteriorates then it has to be sacrifice the one for the many which has to be a pragmatic good rule.Blimey judging by all the Symphony replies just how many of you over 70’s are driving round without taking a medical? It never ceases to amaze me how Retirees after having driven a Car all their lives decide they can handle a Motorhome, you only have to watch them trying to reverse with the Wives stood behind the Van arms flapping its hilarious they really are a danger. I’m sure if one of your loved ones was knocked over by a half blind Pensioner you’d not find it funny, rules are rules and this particular one is there to protect us.
To my eternal shame, I had a princess. But so did my dad and I killed that one
In France it is necessary to have a check-up by a listed doctor
Just look up on official site as I sat amazed... never heard of this law, and just realised you might have an over 3,5t vehicle. I know for sure that nor Dad or Mum who is now 80 never had to have a check-up. And law says test only for heavy vehicles and also bus drivers, ambulances or taxis. For all the others the licence lasts their whole life. Pfewwww you scared me
You will never fit in one JJ , blimey you only just fit in our fiat ducato. Bob.
You need to buy a multi purpose vehicle @JJ ,
Thank you for your suggestion(s) but...
The current plan (which can change at any moment depending on the "Signs" which rule my life) is to buy a small, runabout (which is easy for me to get in and out of), without worrying about over-nighting in it. It will be used to go shopping and move logs and tree cuttings and bin bags of rubbish around QMJ.
Then, in due course, after the sale of my apartment, I will invest in a fancy, posh (to me) under 3500 kilo, Portuguese registered motorhome to resume my occasional Free Loading in...
Can't wait!
JJ
Do you have a plan to get your washing done once you've sold the apartment?
Reminds him of his wendyball team, Middlesborough, Macclesfield or whatever.
Sleep well JJZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Good for shopping may be, but too small to convert.
And I've had them pass me at nearly 80 on many occasions so I'm not sure the limiters are fitted. Not quite correct.
Trucks over 7.5t the speed limit is 60 mph in the UK, however they have a 90kmh (56mph) limiter fitted. The speed limit for coaches is 70 mph if under 12m, 60 over 12m.
Under 12m they used to have a 70 mph limiter fitted under the latest EU rules they now have a 100kmh limiter (62mph).
All rather confusing as UK speed limits are higher than the limiters fitted under EU law.
Ah, I think I can see why you bought it JJ ....Took a glance and the decision was made... Look.
The "Sign" is there for all to see if you know what to look for.
I thought it was the pattern his pee made on the ground .Reminds him of his wendyball team, Middlesborough, Macclesfield or whatever.
