what 3 months free rent?? I never heard that!! No evictions for 3 months, I thought it was, not free rent!!!

I bet in the small print it gets added to your future payments. Nothing is free.
 
Right, this how it works: set up an EC account online.

you will get an appointment to go in for an interview.

They might ask you if you need an advance on you benefits.

You'll then get another appointment to see a (don't know job title), let's call it your manager. he/she will ask you what you normally do for a living, when you've told them you know nothing apart from laying bricks they'll say what if there are no bricklaying jobs about, what else would you do Ian?..... have you ever thought of becoming an Avon Representative, or similar fecking nonsense, to which you will agree because you want the money of the snooty barsteward.

Anyway, you will then visit the job centre once a week for the next 13 weeks because you've nowt better to do with your time, after this probation period you are free to go to the pub at 11 o'clock every Monday morning with your ill gotten gains, don't forget to get some baccy out the change!

All the while you will fill in you EC account with each and every job you have applied for to prove you are Actively seeking employment, all for what seems like a miserly pittance considering how much you've paid in over the years.

You will also get your rent and council tax paid, which ain't bad to be fair.

There is more to it but that gives you the general jist of the idea.

When I retired after 40 years, on a pension and a lump sum, (yes I know I was lucky) I needed a job as I still had a mortgage and a family to feed and I wasn’t on anywhere near the money I had been earning, so I went to the Harlow Jobcentre to find a job. After being kept waiting 1/2 hour past my appointment time I was interviewed. The man I spoke to asked me why I was there. When I explained he said that I would not get job seekers allowance because of my pension. I had not asked for any money and pointed out to him that I was there for a job. He did not seem to understand this and repeated that I did not qualify for a payment. After the “interview” I looked at the few jobs on offer and left. I returned for a second interview as required and, after being kept waiting for over an hour after the agreed time even though to person due to see me had seen no one else in that time ( he sat in an open plan office opposite the chairs we all waited on), I told him that he should be ashamed of himself and the rest of them, they seemed to be doing nothing, and then left.
A few days later I got a job through an employment agency.
My experience, although short, leads me to agree with Eggs. They are not interested in matching people with the best jobs for them, they are just going through the motions.
 
Good morning,,, well you probably won’t believe this, but I’m going to tell you anyway!!

I’m not a believer and I’m not prone to being paranoid, but I was on the phone last night, leaning on my worktop, with my back to the living room area, tv, etc,,,, I was talking and all of a sudden I caught a shadow out of the corner of my eye,,a black shadow and I felt a really weird sensation of someone standing then walking next to me!! It took my breath away!! I really felt something, I know someone was there!! I have no idea who, or what they were, but they were there nonetheless!!

itdidnt worry, or frighten me, I didn’t feel at all threatened, I just know someone was next to me!! Anyway I went to bed!!

about an hour ago, I was fast asleep in bed,, and I’m telling you now,, something stroked my forehead, backwards and forwards for a few seconds!!! I shot up, turned the light on, and nothing!!! Again, I didn’t feel threatened at all, but it was/ is a bit disconcerting!!

now I’m hoping that it’s my old mum,, and thinking that I did have a chat with them,, but no sign or no reply,,,

on a couple of occasions now, I’ve had a strange feeling that I’m not the only one here, but it’s not bothered me one bit!!

I wonder if my mum, dad, or nan, is watching over me! Lolol. Well, that’s it really,, it is weird though!!

if I still knew a certain funster who was/ is very in tune with this sort of thing, I’d have asked for a visit , just to see !!

what a start to my week!! Xxxx

I had something similar after my cancer op 2 years ago . I was in bed and someone took my hand and squeezed it.
When rob came to bed I asked if it was him. He said no!! I think it must have been my mum who died nearly a year before!
They are looking after us! Still get white feathers in randomn places , one recently in our MH when we were on our way to Spain!

Maybe it is your mum watching out for you.

What was the building before it was flats or if it’s a new build what was the ground before?
I had a weird happening years ago, we were renting a bungalow in Wales and were painting the front bedroom so moved into the back one. Hubby woke up and said there was someone standing at the foot of the bed, sure enough there was a shadow there, it didn’t stay but just sort of disappeared, but I always had really odd dreams in that bedroom!

I have not heard of anything free only deferred.

I have never been on benefits and I don’t expect to be on them ( hopefully) but I am interested to know what’s involved!! Or is it a minefield, and not easily explainable!!

The first thing to do is apply. After that you can go to the website and there are instructions to follow.
If you are struggling I can ask a family member who works for DWP. Just PM me.

I do have overdraft and credit card facilities for after that! Xxxx

Funny how life goes though,, sold Helga, get new flat,, had a few quid,, got some work, all looking ok for this year,, then this! But I do understand there are still many out there, that would swap with me in an instant!! Xx

Although I know nothing about the benefits system - I presume they deal with cases in order - so I'd get your applications/registrations in asap, processing from all accounts takes a while in normal circumstances so you don't want to be waiting until your need is great.

Also, do you have an accountant, for tax etc... might be worth contacting them if you do.

Ian apply now as the payment system only kicks in from application date. You can start the process then take your time after that. The system does not recognise you if you don't apply.

= £ 341 per 28 days universal credit
job seekers for a bit first similar rate i think not sure

and rent. Covered i think

if your mortgaged
Its £ 341 end of
You can borrow of HM GOV (dwp)
for two years and pay it back interest only
( i understand )

daughter gets£ 000.00 as she paid an insurance
That covers sick and unemployment £500 a month
For five years

single occupant earning under 12.000 pa may get reduced water rate on water meter butyou need to claim from water /sewer company
 
A quick question for ianthebuilder .... we have a new town being built close to where I live. Can you tell me what causes all the white staining to appear on the brick work? The pic with the fencing is obviously still being built but the one of the sales office has been built at least 4 years. Just curious as one look at some of the brick work would put me off buying.

Moisture draws out of bricks and turns to salt deposits.

There are cleaning products available to clean it off although I’m not sure how effective they are.
 
Hi Chris,, yes mate MJ Is correct. It’s called efflorescence, after their made or stored they hold or draw in a bit of moisture, then the rain etc just draws the salt out,, doesn’t look nice, except for at Xmas, lol. But you can clean it,, it will come back though, till all salt is out! X

not necessarily Chris,, just a lot of salt in the raw clay, material etc! It doesn’t help if there open to all weathers in storage in the builders yard or wherever! I’ve had packs of bricks direct from a puddle, soaking and it doesn’t happen,, I assume

I havnt seen or heard of anything going on in Greece, or indeed anything about the large number of the migrants ,, they are homeless, in large groups, and wherever they are ive not heard!! Anybody know of Greece/ islands etc?
