LIFE AFTER HELGA !!!!

Sorry to keep on about this but I'm intrigued, what's to stop you all meeting up in a pub and buying a breakfast or whatever, or even at night , no need to get up early, why have you got to pay a grand for the privilege?

cheaper to go to Wetherspoons, don’t ya think chaser. (y)

Well,I go back on that, just looked on the post office site and there doesn't seem to be any restrictions on knives at all
I work for Parcelforce and we have to make sure the person receiving the parcel is over 18 if it contains a knife
But that’s only if we know there is one in the package

they do lots of things chas,, they have instructional meetings on how to run and improve your business, specific speakers etc, one to one meetings,, the company BNI have all sorts going on, golf days are one, there are lots of people who help you with certain problems etc,, I don’t know the whole story chas but I think about £200 goes to the company itself, the rest is used for various things,,, I would have joined, but I had 2dramas with it,,, one was the start up costs,,, the other was the fact that you have to go every Thursday morning, and if you can’t you have to get a substitute person to go for you, and they have to speak on your behalf! I didn’t think I really could commit to every week ! It’s a well structured, run, organised meeting that follows a certain format, every week is the same! Works for a lot of people,,, worldwide! Look at BNI on YouTube, all over the world! X

Good evening,,,,

well it was lovely and sunny today, but freezing! Here is the news!!

builder rang and put me off again till Monday!
I was expecting that so I rang the paper I used before Xmas and am organising a run of ads!

I have decided to take my new found talent in interior design into my bedroom!!
I have today bought a divan type double bed, in plush velvet, black in colour,, due to me in a week or so!

along with that I have purchased a set of tartan curtains, ( 90in drop girls) for the bedroom window, I shall get a pole for these when I go to the range this week, to collect my new kitchen, dining table and chairs I bought! That I will have to be creative in placing, cause I don’t know where I’m going to put that yet ????

I will also buy a bedside table, and a nice bedroom floorstanding mirror!!

I have bought a wall bracket for the bedroom for my 38 in existing tv,, because today I also purchased a 50in tv, ( delivered in a week) for the lounge!!

that should now be the end of my spending, apart from some new bedding etc, and a pic for bedroom wall,, And I can concentrate now on my future employment!!

I am not at all bothered about work, I know within a month or so I shall be earning,, and I still have more than enough to get me by!

I sat down today and worked out my expenses for this flat, and broke it down to a weekly basis,,, this included council tax,, rent,, water,, gas/ electric, internet, phone,, van tax,, van ins, and my amazon prime and Netflix Acct’s ( which I can stop at anytime).

The grand total for staying here on a weekly basis,, is £167.76 or wk,,

I,personally don’t think in today’s world that this cost is too bad !!! Do you?

anyway,,,, I shall be posting pics of my new bedroom, as and when,,, I hooe you will like it,,,, if I ever manage to tickle a little bit of company back here , I know they will be suitably impressed! Lololol.
Chat later! Xxx

Yes but no one has still not come up with where it goes, is there a head person who collects all the money for their self, a group or what, where does it actually go, if ianthebuilder says there is thirty there , that's thirty grand a year , no small amount, must confess this a completely new thing to me , never heard of anything like it before.
Wish I was clever enough to think of money a spinner like this,BUSBY.

Not a secret, nothing new in the concept of making money from people you help to make more for themselves.
"Simples" as they say.

why don’t you start something similar busby,,
Smaller fees, smaller scale but to a rigid format! They say that if you copy a proven idea it can be very successful! Lol x
No time Ian to much to do when your retired. At my age I want nourishment not punishment.BUSBY???

Your choice Ian but if it was me I would get my head down and never look up for a full year working on a new build site. I bet you could clear a grand a week. I wouldn't let that builder mess me about like that you deserve better. Tell him where to get off and get some coin on your hip. Putting on my tin hat now:LOL:

I agree. I would look for other work and not tell the other builder.

If he did then come back my rates would increase by a minimum of 10% and given his history I think I would want 50% up front.

no your fine fifth,, I won’t go on a new build site again mate,, I had a go a year or so back, in a couple of places, it’s not for me I’m afraid,, I’m only doing that builders bits till the weather improves and I get myself in gear and going! I don’t really mind being put off at the moment,, I will be working by the end of feb, one way or another! Xx

I watched a documentary before xmas on the building of the Chunnel. As well as the engineering aspects of how it was done, they also interviewed some of the guys from all over the country that stayed in Nissan Huts near the tunnel entrance, with everything provided meals, hot showers, comfy beds, laundry etc.
Anyhow, they did 12 hour shifts, had targets and problems to get on with, but they earnt an absolute fortune for themselves week in week out.
They earned a reputation for working hard, but equally playing and spending hard, on their days off.
I was wondering how hard it would be to get "ones"name down for some of these other large infrastructure projects?, I wont mention HS2, or Heathrow Airport expansion :giggle:
I bet its all about who you know as usual, because there will be a que a mile long to sign up.
Edit" I bet the labour will be supplied via agencies, cant be that difficult to find out which ones can it?
Just thinkin:unsure:

Maybe for the same reason people spend £5 or so on weight watchers once a week.

I do t get that either ??

It wasn't just the annual BNI membership fee that's gone through the roof since I was in it , its the £60 Per Month Direct Debt as this is the amount being charged by the Hotel venue for the use of a meeting room, along with the Buffet style breakfast, none of which goes to the BNI.
We used to pay £32 Per month, which most of us agreed was good value at the time, but even today £60 or £15 per breakfast is pushing it IMHO, as with 40+ members turning up every week, I am sure they could have a better deal.
Its up to the chapters committee to find a suitable venue, thats not only big enough, but also as cost effective for all the members as possible. If its too dear they wont get many new member sign ups.
I know this because over the 5 years I was a member we changed venues 3 times, because of rising costs.

Yes shrimp, another £40 for grub, ( but I got a freezer now, so could be cheaper) and I don’t factor diesel, cause I only use that if I’m working! And don’t forget,, diesel, internet, phone, van ins, tax reliefable,, and maybe even a percentage of the flat?

Good morning,,,

here is the news,,,,,

that was the news!! Nothing!

Chilly but dry out! I shall bathe in a bit,, wait for a couple of amazon deliveries, hit the phone to organise what I can,, Re work!

I washed and waxed the van on Monday, and when it rained on Monday evening, I couldn’t believe how the water just rolls off! Must be working!!!

what I have now noticed is that the van, before I got it, and to sell, they did a cheap spray job,, and in a couple of places this is obvious, now! A bit of overspray round arches etc,, I thought it looked clean,, and when the guy put the signs on, he pulled a small piece of paint away, when removing the backing paper,, not a lot, but enough to make me notice! Now I have touched it up, and it’s covered the metal so I’m good with that, but I can see in the future the little niggles I may have with chipping etc!! I suppose when I got the money I can adress it, or get it wrapped even, but I am going to have to keep my eye on it !!!

so that’s it,,, couple of things coming today,,
From amazon,, and I shall do my best to improve my work situation!

have a super smashing day,, chat later! Xxxx

That’s the thing, the difference between looking at a vehicle and polishing a vehicle, you see far more when washing & polishing!
One of my many jobs-eons ago-I was inspecting JCB cabs (tractors) paintwork, construction, bits missing and quality of steel and welds. It’s surprising how you see more when you are looking properly!

I love that colour Ian, it looks really good, I love your picture too but for me, I'd hang it a bit lower, more like eye level. But then I'm a short a*se! It may already be at your eye level. :giggle: (y)
