Lenny's Search for Winter Sun

We won't sleep at the 'dog pound' after the experience a few years ago. Park there for the day and a walk north on the old railway line, then down to the aerodrome or aire down the road for a peaceful night.
Great area tho.

Starting to head north

Morning Lenny & Mia
When we left you at Deltebre we went up the N340 past Vilafranca del Penedes to a small village on the N340 called Avinyonet del Penedes, turned left and stayed at this place....

https://artcava.com/

It is a winery where they produce Cava ( if that makes sense) They are in Camper contact, search for sites etc. Coordinates are ...
41°22'04.3"N 1°46'22.1"E 41.367861, 1.772811

There is no charge and includes water, black & grey waste.

About 5.30 each evening you will get a knock on your door and a very pleasant man who looks a bit like Robert de Niro will invite you to a free tour and tasting which lasts about an hour from six o'clock with no obligation to either attend or buy.

There are some pleasant walks through the vines and up the road to the the village with good views across to Montserrat.

Safe travels.

Hi, Barry & Margret,
Thanks for the heads up, looks like a nice stop, unfortunately I don't think we have time to fit it in on this trip. We need to be getting on towards the Spanish boarder by this evening, much to my wallets relief.

All the best, Lenny & Mi.

much to my wallets relief.

Wait till you see the price of diesel in France !!:whistle:

We filled up somewhere around Figueres at about €1.17 then only had to fill up once in France at €1.44 before we got to Canterbury.

Filled up yesterday at €1.16. Look on the bright side it's still a couple of pence cheaper in France than the UK.

Quiet night - not.
Dog pound behind the stop, N340 nosiy road close by, marching band drummers practicing behind the Motorhomes, dust cart comes in at 5am.
Knackered.[/QUOTE

Suggest you complain to ‘The Management ‘:D

Didn't get very far, stopped of at Asco to service, the Camper Stop was so nice decided to stay here for the night. Service point between every 2 places, impressive for a free stop.

Same place as we stopped at on the way down, enjoy your journey back home we’ll be following in a weeks time. I know your going via Belguim but are you heading back up the A20 route again

Yes, looked at various ways appears to be best option and good roads. Will decide when we get near Orleans whether to go left or right around Paris, whichever way we will be giving Paris a wide berth.

Had a panic this morning after our final shop in Spain. Red liquid on the door getting really worried, needn't have panicked it was only my blood from a cut finger, the wine was OK.

Now France at Fleurance a few km north of Auch. Smashing Aire was an old municipal site.
Warmer here than Spain, sitting outside with a beer.

Blimey you’ve clocked some miles up today

Now at an Aire in the village square at Bessines-sur-Gartempe about 35km north of Limoges. Has been 24° now 21° I think we should have stayed in France - perhaps not that could have hurt my wallet.
Rule one, be kind to Lenny's wallet.

We’re in Portugal at the moment and thought how expensive France has become over recent years, especially the fuel

Now we are North East of Paris at Vincy-Manoeuvre. After a few miles driving down narrow lanes to get a fruit farm, took one look at the narrow entrance between big stone walls and chickened out.
Found a nice spot for the night on the edge of the village.

The weather here at Gruissan has been brilliant.
31°C today and even the breeze is warm now.

Richard.
Nice there. We stayed 3 nights a couple of weeks ago. I can recommend the red Corbierre at the wine merchants. Bottle, box or they’ll fill a barrel for you.

Funny you should say that, I have a bottle stowed away in the ‘wine cellar’.
There will be a few more joining it before we leave here.

Richard.
