Been catching up today, so going back to Nuremburg, many of these “old towns” are not old at all of course. It took 38 years to rebuild. Like those in France and Belgium, rebuilt to look same as before, what do we get? 50’s and 60’ s falling apart concrete monstrosities!

Be interesting to see how much prices have gone up, I had the burger and Mrs CC had a salad thing, 2 deserts and 2 drinks came to.

Another good thing about Revolut you can find places you have been before😁😁

Lenny no desire to hijack your thread of which so many are enjoying “but” you meeting with fellow Funsters and the camaraderie that follows got me thinking.
It occurred to me that an Aire located next to a Village/Town with facilities situated some 50/100km of Calais/Dieppe but not a mainstream one that would be full as is the norm but one that likely had space that could be a Funsters meet Aire, people going from UK or coming into UK would use it to meet other Funsters announced on Fun or simply calling in, l think a few would add s day in or out to visit just for a meet and social.
Just a thought but your input would be valued you being so popular and all🙂

Sounds like a nice idea not sure how well it would work in practice. We don't mind going a few miles out of our way to meet up with people but a lot don't.

I think it would work, rather like the “Mosel rolling meet” at Reil.

Well that was a pretty good burger Mark, a good ½ pounder and cooked proper nice & pink in the middle.
We were too stuffed for a pud.

I love streak as "rare as you dare", but burgers pink in the middle is just asking for a bout of food poisoning, (unless the steak it was minced from was seared on all sides prior to mincing, which is highly unlikely).

Glad you liked it as a bit worried about recommending places as every visit is different.
Did you have the gold in it🤔 See you had a beer also😋 getting a bit disappointed with German beer as very hit and miss, go to Belgium and every beer is nice but not finding it with German beer!

Don’t go to France then as you have to pin the burgers to the plate save them running off😂😂

I think places like in Germany that make their own burgers are ok as fresh meat and not frozen, wouldn’t have a burger in a UK place as most likely frozen🤔

I like the Wiessbeer.

Yes, I know. Kids used to regularily have streak haché in France and the burgers were served often still cold in the middle never mind rare.

It's just really dodgy from a food hygiene point of view. E-coli anybody?!

We have, apart from passing through, never done Germany for want of an expression. From the posts on this thread, it looks like a place we should properly explore. We are up and down to France quite a bit and would happily make a detour to say hello at a meet in an aire.
Safe travels all

It is safe if it’s done properly - our son who’s a chef explained it - something to do with how the beef is prepped and minced - but

Isn't that Tartare thing a starter cold uncooked minced beef? and safe to munch. Had a couple but not keen, especially when they put a raw egg in it.
