When in Spain.....................................................Eat Chinese!
Normally in foreign countries we always try and eat local food can't understand people who go to Spain and eat English breakfasts and roasts.
But Chinese & Indian food in Spain is so much better the UK.

Anyway it was public holiday so most of the restaurants were closed.

My favourite restaurant, I go for the menus at the back and a three course with a bottle of wine is around €15..

You must try sopporo restaurant Lenny it’s up by mercadonna it has a fixed price and all you can eat and drink for €14 each, the food is cooked in front of you and they do some great dishes..

What's the name of that Altea campsite you are on Lenny, I can only find one on Google Maps near the beach called Camping Cap Blanch.....mixed reviews, many Dutch, German long stayers with plant pots out:giggle: many saying too noisy at night with disco bars, and not to camp near the wall if possible. Discounts out of season with Acsi card.
Have fun, hope your ABS problem is something simple to get sorted locally.

Bearing in mind we are on mountain roads with lots of steep hills so I'm not in the best state of mind..
2 miles down the road the road is barricaded and closed with no prior warning.
It's a single carriageway road with armco on one side a bank on the other, and we are on hill.
How the feck are we supposed to turn round. Luckily there is a track on our right but its very steep, I put the suspension on high and did a twenty point turn. Except Mijhan is watching the back but while she is watching one side the other side grounds out. Not too bad scraped a garage floor support (not the first time) it's GRP so easy repair and skuffed the bottom of the rear light housing.
Managed to turn round but complete bag of nerves now.
Maybe you need 4-wheel drive MH for your usage. Think Hymer do one on Merc chassis!

Yep that's the one Cap Blanch, we saw some of the reviews they were unfounded.
Hardly any noise from the road at the back.

The bar is seperate to the site but owned by them & next to it, music Friday, Saturday & Sunday, Friday & Sunday music stopped at 11pm, Saturday really good band on (Brits) playing Blues, West Coast, Cream etc. , we staggered out just after midnight I think it finished at 1am. That's really early for Spain, could only just hear them on our pitch.

Nearly all the pitches are huge by Spanish standards and big wide access roads, we are not site people rarely stay on them, we were impressed and talking about going back there next March.
Like any foreign site there are some full time caravans set up I didn't think it was that many.

This gives you an idea our van the right a lot of the pitches were a lot bigger than the one we are on.

PhilandMena just to show I still love you Phil, we did a detour today to see what's going on at Callera.

The seafront side access road has a barrier across at the end and the road itself has a no Motorhome parking sign (saw that after we had parked for lunch).
While I was having a wander a local walking his dog started chatting to me (he was a Brit) he was telling me the land is owned by the Mayor's brother and was used for car parking for a festival for three weeks in the summer but didn't know if he had any plans for the area.
He also told me you can still stop on the other side by the river.

Drove round to the other side, just a small rough area you can access, two vans and a caravan there. Also a bit soggy with big puddles there had been some heavy rain all the fields in the area flooded, not just the rice paddys,.
And a long walk to the town from there, we didn't bother to stop.

That's a shame I liked that stop even though it's a tip

Forgot to mention the dreaded mobility scooters, tandem versions with over weight people on them that are obviously not disabled just lazy.
Leaflets for mobility scooter hire in the tourist office is a first for me.
Theres a shop selling them that has Arthur daily type fluorescent signs on , reading " low miles" " one lady owner " etc i nearly crashed my bike when i saw them

Saw you coming we could have had that for €10.95, dishes were a bit limited so we went for the menu for €18.95 each.

Trust you to tell me after we have left. ..

Pathetic isn't it.
I was standing in a crowded street, back against a shop window.

Some large woman on a mobility scooter was trying to squeeze past. She got stuck on my foot. Without looking down at what she had been stalled by. She popped it in reverse and took a run up at high speed and managed to roll the thing over my foot.

Luckily it was winter and I had boots on.

Decided to head back to France fed up with poxy Spanish weather, now at Teruel, horrendous drive, torrential rain most of the way. Freezing here 12° when we arrived.

Nice free camper stop with free servicing, notice on the gate funded by the EU.

The one by the dinosaur park? We stayed there a few weeks ago and there were dozens of MHs parked in the adjacent car park.

Lenny HB, Bet you parked in front of that Merc 4X4 PVC for a reason.:giggle:;)
Weather back here in Surrey is picking up, 21C by Thursday they reckon, we haven't had rain in weeks.(y)
The weather has been shocking across EU & even Turkey this last winter, now into Spring this year, so many van tourers were either washed out or frozen overnight.
How did the van behave on a longer flat run?
Have Fun, hope the French weather is kinder to you.

Thanks for the heads up about Cullera Lenny, drinks on me the next time we meet up. I shall miss that location and who knows given time maybe a decent Aire will be built. We're next to the ski lift at Airolo, Switzerland this morning. The large car parks and bei g used by heavy machinery as there is a lot of new ground works going on here at thr moment and there running the cable car up and down by what looks like an engineering maintenance team. Must be end of season maintenance/overhaul. Weather getting here was brilliant but very cold this morning, 6 degree's. But will be 20 plus in our next stop 2 hours away, Milan. Sorry to hear about your weather woes Spain has had a right mare this winter. Keep Safe.

Just a bit further north from Teruel on the old road is a small place called Daroca. Don't know if you have ever had a walk around but worth an hour for a look see.
Just saying like.

Bit further north from Teruel there is this place, free stop over with services on an olive oil factory, the olive oil is stunning

We've stayed here & agree it's a good free stopover with an excellent (but not cheap) range of olive oils 👍
