Lenny's Heading for Portugal - Maybe

Now at Coimbra in the coach park as Aire full.

Met the Dutch guy this morning that we met a couple of days ago. He had been over to a national park we are/were heading for. He got stuck in 9" snow and had to put snow chains on. Apparently snow unheard of in that aera at this time of year. We might have to give that a miss.

Have you got 4 seasons tyres?

No just M&S, Michelin Camping, I don't have much faith in them, no chains just a snow shovel.
We’ve got Continental Four Seasons
Noticed some slight pitting on our alloy wheels. Sent our German dealer a pic and N&B have given us 4 new wheels with new tyres.

got a friend who lives about 15k from coimbra, says the forecast for the next month is mainly heavy rain, I turn round if I were you!were you!

Hi Lenny,
We always go down the eastern side of Spain and round to Morocco or Portugal, Algarve because we live just north of Perpignan but the west looks great. Are you following an itinerary from a book or self planned or just sticking a pin and heading there. My memory and geography is just hopeless so we tend to just wander or go where we have liked before.
Do you keep a list of stops in lat:long format? If so perhaps you could publish it at the end as a .csv file. We do that as we load it into Autoroute with comments etc and have quite a few others itineraries stored as well.
Thoroughly enjoying your trip though.
Steve

re above, I second that request, amazed how you manage to find all those stunning places, is it research beforehand? Followed your previous trip, that too was really interesting, keep up the good work!

Did you include the Library on the Coimbra tour @Lenny HB we had not seen any pictures of it and only just included it on the ticket when we visited last Tuesday. Top floor really takes your breath away (no not beacause of the stairs). Recommended for anyone’s future visit.

Hi Steve, keep trying but never seem to make down to your neck of the woods.
Don't really do any planning, Mijhan looks in guide books and on the net to see if there is anything worth visiting where we are but often it's pot luck.
Todays stop which I will post in a mo was pot luck. Services were a bit grim where we were so I looked for somewhere better, 15km down the road village had a stopover and nice looking service point, and another stopover said next to Roman ruins. Serviced at the first then went to the second, what a result.

If you look at the photos of the stopovers I post most days you will see the coordinates are on the photos.

We use Autoroute as well with a GPS receiver, last couple of trips I've posted the route at the end.
This is the trip so far.

If your going to fit them use a really good wheel sealer on them it will help the longevity of them. if your really keen get the older ones refurbed in a block colour and use as winter wheels easy to swap over with your levelling jacks.

Don't give him ideas I was hoping he was going to donate them to me.:)

Nice pictures Lenny, looks like the weather should improve for you down there...fingers crossed.
When you said "We use Autoroute as well with a GPS receiver, last couple of trips I've posted the route at the end" this looks like a useful piece of kit, when you get a mo, can you tell us what piece of kit you have.
Have been watching Graham Norton tonight on the box, one of his guests was Lee Evans, who is coming back to star in a West End show, When he was asked why the five year break? , he replied that his wife "wanted him home more", "but she had "Dragged" him round Europe to every major city". He then said, and I immediately thought of you, when he said "she has taken me round so many museums and those bloody Roman Ruins", "they are everywhere", "you know walls that come up to your waist height"
Then the punchline was....."Looks like they got the footings in, and just buggered off!:D
Have a great trip, just had to share that with you.
Les

I can’t imagine that the dealer is going to let me take them away
I expect they’ll be going back to the manufacturer.

Yes that's one of them a firm called Gtechniq used to be the most thought of one. It's normally the iron and brake dust kills alloys.

If you have time take a look on detailing world forum. Your find all the info you need and more.

Be perfect for doing g a new set of wheels as you can do inside and get in all books and crannies.

Cripey Cripes... Mr Lenny HB is getting closer and closer... :Eeek:
