Lenny's Heading for Germany

They will be in the drivers lounge no doubt however on the tunnel they are all in a carriage at the front of the train .
[/QUOTE)
Yes! On the ferry there is a drivers lounge, there is also a premium lounge for passengers which we used on our Dover-Dunkerque crossing. There were only 5 passengers using it ! We are using it again on our return crossing and with a 6.p.m. departure I'm hoping it will have few passengers in there.

Yes understood. I'm just having a bit of a chat on the subject matter and not attempting to undermine it it or even challenge it really. Even though we will be social distancing, wearing face masks and isolated from the bulk of passengers , we will comply with the rules. As an aside the UK has been put on Germany's naughty step today. Requirements to be met for those coming from the UK into Germany are now in effect.
Interesting, we've been in Germany since Monday so presumably we are OK?

Just to help with your decision making reference the ferry. Police are now actively checking people who have come into the country and have to self isolate.
In the Guildford area they have 2 dedicated cars working 2 shifts. One for the eastern part and one for the western.
They came in to do a check on a student but had slightly incorrect details. These were clarified and they came back the next day to check up again.

It is these people you would have to convince that you didnt socialise on the ferry in the premium lounge in order to not be fined should you not be at the dedicated place of residence for your fortnight.
Their questions will be pretty basic. Are you at home ? ..... No ...... Fine handed out to each person.
They wont be interested in complexities like the premium lounge with nobody else in it. That would be your defence at Court if you decided to challenge the fine.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

You don't have to convince them.If you use a ferry and not The Tunnel you have to Quarantine,,no it's no it's.BUSBY.

Looking at this I think it only applies to Wales and Northern Ireland?
I'm not sure what your looking at ? However, the campsite has a daily list displayed on its window at reception and I was told this morning the UK had been added to the list and was shown the document with a long list of countries and some highlighted. This now included England, Wales and Northern Ireland, I can't remember if she included Jockland or not and as we are heading back that way in a couple of days never took too much notice. I'm sure more clarification will posted on here before the day is out.

Summary
Still current at:1 October 2020Updated:30 September 2020Latest update:
Addition of information and advice on COVID-19-related restrictions on entry into Germany from Northern Ireland and Wales. Anyone entering Germany from these areas is required to quarantine for 14 days although in most federal states they are released from quarantine following a negative test. (‘Summary’ & ‘Entry requirements’ Page)

Interesting! Where is your source for police checking on passengers who have returned by Ferry.
The police

To clarify, they are given a list to check of people who have returned by any means who have filled out the form to get back into UK.

Further to my post #101 above This may clarify things a little more.

READ ALSO: Germany declares coronavirus 'high risk' areas in more than half of all EU countries

Here are recent developments:

- Wales and Northern Ireland in the UK have been classed as risk zones.

Perhaps the detail was lost in translation during our conversation this morning. If this is correct I suspect we are very close to joining them.

The police
Perhaps you can show on here for all to see ? I have googled this and found nothing. If police were checking ferry passengers at home I would expect to see it when doing an internet search. Unless it was just made up like so much fake news we read about today.

Nothing about this from the Chief Constable either ?

Genuinely, I have nothing further to offer. It happened.

You will do what you want anyway.

Dont say I didnt try to warn you.

Hmmm Czech. added to list so a clean test is needed to return or wait for results in quarantine. That might alter the plans a little 😡😡😡

How odd ! The chief constable gives a lengthy statement on how his force is dealing with Covid yet no mention at all about checking up on Ferry passengers and only one fine issue so far by his force. He clearly missed an opportunity to reinforce the message about self isolation that you say happened. As for me doing what I want anyway, you are absolutly correct and my intent is clearly stated in post #89. You have now well and truly warned me and you can rest easy !

Your quote from cc gavin is 10 days old.

My interaction occurred 3 days ago.

My quote in post #89 was made at 10.08 today.
The quote you used from Gavin Stephens to indicate that my conversation with a Police Officer, I have known for 20 years, who was executing his duty, was potentially fake news, was 10 days old for a 3 day old conversation.
Your post. #105 suggests that you think i have made up a conversation in my head.

Unless it was just made up like so much fake news we read about today.
I m going to leave this here as it denigrates the thread. If you wish to continue please pm me

Leave it out ladies, don't spoil a good travel thread with your bickering.
Perhaps you could move these posts please.
Normally I love threads going off at a tangent but it mucks up a travel thread.

We were in the bus parking area last night one other van then another arrive they both left may have been the doughnuts tyre marks that put them off, we stayed. About 7:30 a few boy racers came in did one doughnut each well away from us then drove off and we had a peaceful night.

The Archaeological Park may be a large but not much there. A lot of reconstruction I'm not that keen on, very Germadic all prim & proper.
The musem was very good and absolutely huge suffered from information overload.

You can go off Autobhans 2½ hours to do 80km road works everywhere I know it's been like it for the over 20 years but appears worse than ever now.

Now at Herminghauspark Saubrucke, I don't know were it is either but it's a bit north of where we are heading.
Normally €5 Inc., EHU but it's free due to Covid.
The EHU is useful after 4 murky days my 300 Watts of solar have given me all of 2 amps for 2 hours.

The viaduct is an old railway line now a cycle path.
