Lenny's going for a ponder around France

What a great thread, I just love the pictures and giving us so many ideas for a tour...thank you!
Just been googling some of the places you mention. Does your camera give you a map with the pins showing the locations so we can see where you have been and the rough route?
Thanks for the nice comments.

For main photos using a Lumix TZ60 which has GPS and will show pushpins on Google maps.
The photos with coordinates on them ( mainly Aires) are taken on my phone using an app "One Camera".
We also run Autoroute on a laptop with a GPS receiver and use the trail setting.

Painful yesterday no phone or data signal.

Yesterday at the Aire near the summit of Ballon d' Alscace 3790ft up.

This morning went down to Mulhouse as I wanted to visit the Schlumpf Collection again, last time we went was 1992.
A bit disappointed they have modernised the museum and it has lost a lot of its character. Everything in organised rows now. The famous organ not there anymore and the lamps now have LED bulbs, now on permanently you can no longer get excited waiting for then to turn on for a few minutes on the hour.

Now at Eguisheim a private Aire (free of course) at a winery, did a bit of wine tasting and to be polite we bought a couple of bottles. A bit confusing here we are in France but they speak German doesn't take much to confuse a Lenny.
The town is amazing fairy tale like place but due to wine tasting I had to give up tonight as I was staggering about so no photos until tomorrow.

Not good, wiping down the front of the found a 5mm chip on the screen and a few very minute chips.
I know where it happened on a stretch of road that had been top dressed with granite chips, bleeding French drivers coming the other way far too fast.

Insurance co use Autoglass, I've seen their crap repairs so will have a go myself, my mate distributes a very good DIY kit. The small ones will probably polish out with jewelers rouge

Back up in the hills now at a strange village Trios-Epis.
Free Aire even has a shower for €1 but a jeton for the Borne is €6, I wouldn't mind if you could fill the tank but you only get 100 Lt.

Only two shops, a Boulanger/cafe and a shop selling products from the Convent.

We were sitting outside the cafe having a coffee, there appeared to be a rather large quantity of elderly people around us mainly in wheelchairs. We then realised the building opposite was an extremely large convalescent hospital. Also a huge Convent and a large ugly modern church in the village.

On the edge of the village in the woods we stumbled upon a WW1 & WW2 German military cemetery. Of the 273 graves could only find 5 that were WW2, I can only assume a plane came down nearby.

Spent 3 nights on that nice Aire, didn't really cost us anything, the fast WiFi saved me having to do another data top up and the EHU saved a bit of gas. Not much in the village but did discover a cycle track on an old railway line but it only went for 6½ miles.

Went up to Melsheim this morning, after a nerve wrecking drive though some medieval streets only to discover the Bugatti museum is closed on Tuesdays.

So we headed off to the Dabo rock, quite a drag to get to it in a Motorhome especially when you miss a turning and take the little road.
Bit of a disappointment has been commercialised have to pay a couple of Euro to go to the top, steps up there, top covered in concrete (pretty concrete) and a church on top at least you can go up the tower.
