Learn to crochet?

I’ve just watched part of the video Helen so think I’m going to have a try as I like the texture of the square .ill have a practice with wool I have and if I get on ok will get my wool for it on Tuesday ...thanks for putting the link on.:)

I have started another block - it is quite addictive :) and the texture makes them more appealing than the usual granny squares even though they are made in a very similar way. I also found the original ball bands from my wool so can get more of the same colours even if the batch numbers will be different.

Smallish ones preferably the biggest I have used is about 1in but not sure if it is too big but any you have will be most appreciated:)
No problem we will get a some different sized ones
Already started the wool collection lol

Hopefully it's the right shade of red and it's got a glitter in parts of the thread

If any of you need the wool sooner than may just pm us and we will happily post you some out FOC
@movan do you want any

I made some with sparkles in the yarn as well - they do catch the light and look lovely. I am not concerned about the exact colours as it is the massed effect that will be important I think.

@movan should i count how many I have made since I started? I have some in fabric and some knitted as well.

Here is my contribution so far, no two the same Lol!

That takes the count to 49949.

I have made 149 (crochet, sewn or knitted) since last November plus there are a few from 2017 that I can reuse :)

I have also made some in PLA that will go onto sticks :)

Ive made three today and working on a fourth using the video @Aly1 posted. I'm not sure if it will turn out or not

Sorry no poppies today till I get more red wool although I have white so may do a few of those later.
This afternoon I have watched the video that @Puddleduck Helen put on.
My hook is a bigger size than it said in the video but I will get another on Tuesday .

I used a 5mm hook for the Aran as that works well for me. For blankets and the like (where size is not really an issue) I don't worry about the given hook size - more that I am comfortable using it and that the finished look is what I want.

If you had kept going @davanne that is where it gets interesting working round the post of the stitch ...... if you think of a treble as a T normally we work in the spaces under each of the arms of the T but you can also work around the "stem" of the T which is called working round the post. Easier shown than explained.

I just made my first poppy. Not very happy with it, it has a hole in the middle and is only about two and half inches across. What pattern are you all using please. It must be better than the one I have. I dont have time to check all the 28 pages again looking for a link, to pattern or video. Can someone send me a link please.

Thanks Helen My hook is a 5mm but the wool is double knit that is left over from a tea cosy I knitted a couple of years ago I will have another go tomorrow and carry on doing further rows

Welcome Martin the more the merrier!! @Jim was supposed to be having a go but he is a bit busy making a croquet lawn:whistle:

I really do like the curly poppies @Aly1 I tried to watch the video but without sound it was hopeless. I don't know why I cannot get sound on videos.

@Puddleduck I've heard of red poppies and white poppies but what do the other colours represent?

I am moving on to the cream granny squares today with not so many ends to weave in. Still estimating but think I may need 100.

Help.. I have just re read back ... @Aly1 I think I may have gone wrong on numbers you were about

50 different tomme. Chances are you are right.

Anyone good at figures can you check please..

Sorry if it was me. We really need a box at the beginning of the thread where we can go in and alter ... like in an Attendees at rallies. Sorry again .
