Learn to crochet?

@Janine ... think you should send that photo and complain. You just might get some reimbursement goodies. :(

I did that with a ball of yarn that had too many knots and breaks and they sent me two balls of yarn in compensation. Unfortunately a different dye lot of course - but I still managed to use it.

Well, this is a pile of crap!

I undid what I had done and took out the maroon colour because it didn’t work at all.

Redid it and there are random splashes of colour which make it look dirty.

In the pile of ufo’s it goes. (ufo=unfinished object)

If you hate the yarn, and if you want to crochet or knit it into any 8 inch ( 20 cms) squares and send them to me, I’ll put them in my next parcel to South Africa for Knit a Square.

Daughter thought a quilt/picnic blanket for grandson to preserve all his Beavers/Cubs/Scouts badges would be a good idea. An even better idea when you get granny ( not an expert sewer) to make it. This is the second attempt, made with the camouflage fabric he wanted and two of my vintage French linen sheets dyed grey. I’ve hand tied it as my machine isn’t capable of quilting this weight ( and neither am I!)
Just have to stitch the first lot of badges on, as laid out, and give it a press before handing it over tomorrow. I shall be soooo glad to see it go. Not perfect by any means but best I can do.

Such a lovely personal gift, I am sure he will always treasure it :)

We are planning our next big trip away and I wanted to be organized this time with my crochet projects. I have selected various projects such as an evening wrap for me and some Christmas presents such as socks etc and ordered the yarn rather than be at the mercy of the Chinese bazaars.

One free pattern I found was the Jackfield Tile tote bag. As it is probably the most complicated thing I am yet to attempt (from a stitch point of view) I decided to practice using some oddments. I am quite pleased with it even though the colours do not really go together.

Thank you for posting that I may have a try myself:)

It’s great for using up oddments of yarn but I bought some specifically as I hope to make a couple for Christmas gifts, if I can bare to do more than one of course ;)

The Jackfield Tile museum is about 5 miles from where I live! Well worth a visit for inspiration - the colours and patterns on the tiles are amazing.

The colours totally go together. It looks like something one would buy in one of those expensive ethnic inspired art shops for massive amounts of money.

I definitely want to make one of those :) :) :)

I have had a morning of sewing bliss, my friend has taken up knitting, as it is her birthday next month I have made her a knitting needle holder and put some kit in it (she often borrows mine!).

She'd be mad not to. That's beautiful.

I have found a way of using up all those scraps of yarn that we all keep because they will be useful one day :)

https://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-floral-pom-poms/
I have a drawer in my craft room where I store ends of balls of yarn and when I'm at a loose end (pun intended) I make pom poms from them which I intend eventually to turn into a pom pom rug

It's lovely! What a good idea. I love the colours, nice and bright.
To take yarn away with me using minimal space I use a vacuum machine (you can get them really cheaply on Amazon) and vac pack two or three balls at a time. Works a treat. I can sneak more into the lockers without it being noticed!

That's lovely and so thoughtful.

I've just been plodding on with a blanket for #6 grandsprog but I can't do any more until #4 daughter arrives with the last 4 balls in a fortnight's time.

So I'm back to crocheting octopals

Lovely work you clever ladies!!

Hello, relative Newbie wading in here! Shall I do a potted introduction, or unwittingly reveal my oddities as we go along?

Confession. I do not crochet! I knit, spin, sew (very badly) and generally make things I could have bought much more cheaply. I am assured that you are an equal opportunities crafting group, and I will not be discriminated again for my deficiencies!

Well, I have spent a couple of days re-doing the yoke on my knitted jacket - I just didn't like the lumpy look of the decreases in moss stitch so I re-did it in stocking stitch. Much nicer finish, I think..
