Almost feel embarrassed as all I produce is kitsch. Here is my winter travel so far

As I said before, I find it easier to work the very fine yarn, my hands cramp up using a bigger hook and my wrists can't handle the weight. It's just it all feels like making useless items, dust collectors. But then, just as I fell asleep, I suddenly thought that knitting socks could be done for charity, so will have a look at that! Must be much better than making items and putting them in a charity shop. I am still working through the stash though (do I admit that I have worked on that for over 4 years now, because that is how long I am FT, at least most of it wasn't my stash, but still, goes to show how much there is)

I love making socks!! Two socks at a time on one circular needle toe up!!! No grafting, no one sock syndrome and always having enough yarn. I'll see if I can find a link to the book I started with.

Have never had the desire to knit socks, or wear knitted socks, the ones we had to make at school put me off for life.
only time i have tried to knot 2 things together, sleeves (that’s how mum did it) I ended up with 2 at the bottom and one at the top :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Your fine crochet is beautiful SGNV.
How’s the art going?

Hello everyone,

I cannot believe how long it is since I’ve been on this thread 😱 I’ve had a look at all your projects from the last couple of months and there’s some lovely stuff on here.

I’m finishing off my first ever wearable item for me (apart from ponchos) a patchwork cardigan which has definitely been a labour of love. I hope I like it enough to wear it 😆

For Christmas I received some huge balls of chenille to make a hooded blanket which I thought would be lovely for in the van or sitting out on chilly nights. What I didn’t realise was quite how MASSIVE it would end up. It’s more of a hindrance to be honest so I need to reduce it a bit 😊

I’m also doing an embroidery journal for the year for the first time. I’m not particularly good at it but am enjoying the process.

There’s just not enough hours in the day 😂

Don’t forget to let me know when you are back in South Wales Sophie

I had exactly the same thought this morning when I caught up.
I’ve been making lots of things but rarely take pictures before they go to their new homes.
My main project at the moment is making rustic style decorations for #3 daughter’s wedding on Easter Saturday. I did take a picture of some of the bunting before it was transported to Essex, but failed to photograph the jars I’d wrapped in twine, but I’m sure you can imagine what a jar wrapped in twine looks like!

I did find this picture of some reusable kitchen roll I made for #3 daughter at her request. It’s basically squares of cotton and towelling overlocked and poppered together .

Love the bunting 😍

Toe up knitting looks interesting, have used short rows for the heel for years, I think it's neater
I find they fit my heels better than round heels. I know other people find round heels better.

I also have (or had) a magazine cutting "somewhere" of how to make Portuguese style socks which have a spiral toe. I never made any but that looked interesting as well.

Ven, love them. I have recently been talking to a man on the streets... I don't know what to call him. Homeless gives completely the wrong impression. He is, and has been since 10 years of age,... fascinated by Native Americans. '(I recently gave him a framed print of an indian chief whom he worshipped).

Your second photo down reminds me of the embroidered waistcoats and bags he makes for himself with Native American motifs on.. He also does very tiny beadwork on them and has just finished a shoulder bag for himself all embroidered with fine beads.

Sorry.. Bit of a ramble post from me.

Hi Lisa My Yuletide is going to hang about a lot longer because I take it to Norfolk Knitters & Stitches on a Wednesday afternoon. I don't get a lot done as it's more of a Knit & Natter group.(y)

I have done about 8 inches of Derek's pullover so far, alternating with crochet octopus to give my hands and shoulders a break.

I still haven't figured out how to join the pink baby cardigan together. I haven't heard anything back from "Peter Pan". I wrote in November and I sent a stamped-addressed envelope. When I can get my brain in gear I'll have another go at sorting out the pattern and instructions.

Last week went our for a WW,meeting wasn't where I thought, nice ladies said they were a crafting group so I wen home and got my knitting, had a lovely time, lady next to me is also a motorhomer, will be going back.

More kitsch. Went into the yarn shop in Amble, thought I'd allow myself to buy some sock wool as I have a project idea. Well, the sock department was very minimal to say the least. BUT they had some crochet cotton in the bargain bin, whoops, couldn't resist that. I will say that black cotton adds another level to the challenge of 2ch, make 6 double (+) into that, and then 2 double in each, with a 1mm hook :giggle:

Apologies Joy, I’ve only just seen this. Thanks 😊 Embroidery is such an art when you see some peoples work, I’m in awe of some that I’ve seen.

Have you watched Encanto with your granddaughter? The girls dress in that has amazing embroidery and is designed by this artist https://www.facebook.com/neysaboveart/

DC-3 Elements is now complete! The pattern is available from Ravelry by Sandra McButton. There used to be a free pattern but I can't find it. There is a YouTube video showing step by step instructions and I followed that. I didn't add the little extra squares as the blanket was more than big enough without.

It's to go to one of out local dementia units :) I'm not sure how much of the texture you can see in the photos.

DC-4 Elemental Square Dance now finished :)

It's made with the squares that should have been a border for DC-3 but that would have made DC-3 too big so I adjusted and expanded them :)

My next project isn't new - I have a sweater part finished and need to complete that before I start on either DC-5 or a bed cover for my friend who I promised ages ago. I did start a quilt for him but lost interest in it so I may pull that out of it's box.

Hello everyone,

I’m after some opinions. I want to crochet a little something to show our support of Ukraine during this hideous time.

Like many others I’ve donated to a relevant charity and have bought some patterns from small Ukraine businesses but want to display something that shows support for their plight.

I have made these “hugs” before for Random acts of crochet kindness and thought one the Ukraine colours (as close a match as I have) may work. What do you think?

That is lovely .

The blanket is beautiful as well scousebird, great to have vibrant colours.

I am going on a learn to crochet course on Saturday, my two friends wanted to go so I am tagging along but will admit here that its probably my third time to try to learn :blusher:
