Learn to crochet?

Knit-a-square in South Africa has had to shut due to Covid-19. While they’re asking knitters and crocheters not to send parcels atm they do have a shortage of squares in stock.
If anyone would like to knit or crochet an 8x8 inch (20x20 cms) square, or a whole bundle of them, they will be made into blankets in SA, hopefully in time for the worst of their winter. They are asking for sets of 5 identical squares to help making up the blankets easier.
I am happy to mail them to SA , so squares could be sent to me ( after I move house, as long as that still happens) and the end package could be from Motorhome Fun.

Just finished my first Diamond Dotz picture and really pleased with it.

Next thing to do is some sewing. I need to draw a new pattern for a top and then cut out and make up. I've got some lovey broderie anglais to use for it - it's been in my stash since before we moved here nearly 20 years ago so think it's about time I used it!

Another lovely CAL due to start April.
Unfortunately I don’t know if ordering wool to be delivered can be counted as essential?
It’s essential for maintenance of mental health, hand dexterity and a way of preventing the murder of husbands ?

What a great idea! I have lots of odds and ends I can do this with. I usually crochet octopals for OFAPUK but my hands aren’t great at the moment and the Persian tiles blanket needs lots of concentration, so it’s something I can do while watching the tv in the evening !
Currently my day time hours are taken up with making masks for the carers at the agency where one of our daughters works.

Can I recommend Attic24 website. I have just wandered into there, not that I might be making sheep, but I believe Janine has referred to the site before. I clicked on Home and found myself reading about a young family. You might find it interesting too. I'm going back now to read some more.

Aly1 I didn't know about the Stylecraft CAL either so really useful to know.

Attic 24 are lovely blankets to crochet.
Dahlia, Hydrangea and Dune ?

Oh dear. I am halfway through making the sheep and I came across this c2c jayg patchwork blanket pattern which I HAVE to make NOW!

Crochet faster - there really isn't enough time! :ROFLMAO:

Cut out my top but the pattern I drew was wrong so it's back to the drawing board for me but that can wait for another day! Still at least it was only 3/4 yard of material wasted, although not sure I've got enough left to try it again with that material so might have to go through my fabrics again to find something suitable.

big map Thank you for finding the rainbow pattern. I will struggle to find those colours but I'll have a go - possibly among my machine knitting cones. No-one will see the rainbow from our windows but when it's made I'll put it in an upstairs bedroom window.

To everyone else who has a go - put your photos on here so we can share the experience - and to encourage Jenben

Forgot to say, for the Knit-a-Square squares, please leave a long tail at beginning or end ( approx 30 cms ) which is used when they’re stitched together. No great problem if a few are missing their tails, the ladies who stitch them ( the go goes) are very inventive.

Sadly I don’t have the right colours to make this, shame as it’s very pretty

Ok will do. Sorry, should have thought of that!

I’ve got loads of oddments so will do some Anthea
Ooh - I yeah - me - a home for my otherwise homeless squares of trying new stitches and such. Something to do while I decide on something to do ? and I can attach a tail for future squares which will have one ?

I am desperate to try Janine's little sheep. Can you put a 50p near him please so I can see size. Not sure if eyes and fingers will be able to do it.

Going to see if I have rainbow colours now.
:)
He stands about 4" high, done in double knitting yarn and a 4mm hook.

I did a larger one in chunky yarn but couldn't get his features right. Even the dog doesn't want him ?
