They’re great! But as you say, a bit pricey. And that’s without delivery, presumably from the USA, as they’re priced in $.

I didn't even check out delivery but would have had it delivered to a friend to bring over next time he visits. :)

Maybe it would be possible to have a mug printed with similar but UK terms if I decide it is something I can't live without :)

I've just finished these for grandsprog #6:
A colourful panel to hang over the car seat head rest to give her something interesting to look at in the car. It's also a sensory toy as it's double sided with different textures and has part of a crinkly foil blanket sewn to the inside.

Quick update.

Mrs Fast delighted with her yarn bowl, amazed at ""my" thoughtfulness, thanks everyone for your help.

Although I'm worried now I may have set the bar at a unfeasible height for future presents.
That’s great, so glad she liked it.

Great to hear.

Well you can always come and ask for advice in the future , I think we are all full of good ideas for how to spend money on crafty kit.

Morning all, I am still trying to learn to crochet. Have done a first round of a granny square but it didn’t look very square , and then I sort of lost heart a bit .

I have pulled it apart and started again, any advice ?

The first round often doesn't look square. Even when finished they might not look square and need to be "blocked" to encourage the squareness.

A lot depends on your tension (which changes with practice and even then alters day to day and with your mood) and how many chains you put in the corners.

I'm still working on my filet net. I am enjoying making it but because it is in no 8 cotton and with a 1.5 hook it's slow to grow. I just hope it's the correct size when done.

Finally a start of a granny square that looks squareish . But it’s tricky !

Well done when you do more rows it will come more into a square shape but as Helen Puddleduck says if you block them you get a uniform shape.
this is my block

Or just use a foam block and pins :)

I wondered why my Amazon search for blocking hoard brought up those large foam jigsaw puzzle pieces toddlers play with! Thanks for the tip.

I started one a while ago but stopped when I finished the first ball of cotton. I bought some more cotton but now can't remember what size hook I used for the first bit :xdoh:

I will be continuing to do hand work in the evenings but once I have finished the book I am writing (family history so limited appeal) I will be getting my studio fully sorted and then the sewing machine will come out ready for me to finish a couple of part completed quilts.

I also have a commission to make a quilt for a friend using some clothes that belonged to his Grandmother (a bit creepy) but I am a little stuck about what to do as the clothes are mostly jersey (knitted) type fabric. I may do small blocks with frames or Japanese folded work with small inserts but I am worried about the weight as the friend wants a double bed size quilt (not enough clothing for that!)

I bought one of those embossing machines at an auction and it takes one of the brands of fabric cutting dies so I am looking forward to having a go :) If the machine works it will make cutting a lot faster and more accurate.

I have finished the crochet panel for the van window so will take it with us next weekend to I can have a think about how to hang it. If that one looks okay I have two more to make.

I started a pair of socks for my son's sister-in-law last night :) Her feet are short and broad. lol.

With the New Year almost open us any plans for crafting in 2020 ?

Most definitely! As much as I can get away with.

I have a part finished quilt I need to finish for grandsprog #4 and two to plan / start for #5 and #6.

I have a couple of ongoing cross stitches for when I don’t have space to take a knitting or crochet project with me, so I suppose I might finish one or more of them at some point!

I would like to resume /complete the filet runner but need to do a few test rows to decide what size hook I was using before :xdoh: this time I will write it down somewhere! And I need to concentrate on it so it’s not something I can do in front of the tv in the evening.

I have no doubt there will be numerous requests for items from the girls throughout the year - currently I’m crocheting ear warmers for two of them, there’s a towel and a pile of swimming badges awaiting my attention for grandsprog #5 and several items which need mending or altering.

I’m not ruling out spontaneous beading projects when the urge takes me and I shall continue to crochet as many octopals as I can for OFAPUK.

I am going to make Nessie for me and another for my sister.

Last night very late I decided I fancied some napkin rings for our New Years Eve table and made these as I had a bumper pack of the buttons.

Have a good evening whatever you’re doing x

Crochet baby stuff for Katie in work, due May. She's finding out the sex today - exciting.

We have a Grandchild due in May as well but that daughter-in-law hates handmade things. I have made a shawl but not sure if she will accept it :(

I hope she loves it when she sees it.
