At the moment it's too windy for midgies but you should bring some Avon skin so soft blue/greenish colour bottle. Midgies don't like garlic or alcohol either:-)

Well, we should all be fine then if we all stick together and use plenty of skin so soft, garlic and alcohol ,we'll smell like a load of drunken Italian motorhomers.( No midges for at least a 5 mile radius (y) :giggler:  ).

double funny

Kelso usually not too bad for midge except down by the river on a hot (haha) still evening.

@Puddleduck re the bbq, whats the plan for stuff to go with bbq meats, what do we need to bring, meat obviously, salad? etc give us a clue,

Bring what you want to eat meat wise, plus plates, cutlery, cups / glasses (and a chair!) - the idea is that the BBQs will be provided and people cook their own food and we eat communally. I will provide red and brown sauce and pickles, chutney etc.

I will provide basic salad for folk to help themselves which will save lots of waste****** I hope!

If you want bread then you will have to bring it as I don't do gluten.

************* forgot to say that rubbish bins will be provided. Here we have plastic, metal and paper / card recycling (all in the same container), glass in a different container and everything else in yet another container.

Kelso is not short of food retailers from Sainsbury and Lidl and two Co-ops as well as many independent butchers, delis and the like. It IS short of a good greengrocer, there is one at the garden centre but choice is a bit limited there.

Watch the causeway times @Ambilkate

So many folk get caught out by not adhering to the crossing times.

Be aware wilding is not allowed on Holy Island, the small car park at start of causeway from mainland can be wilded in but farmer who owns it had blocked off half of it due to overnighters emptying toilets into his field and rubbish. For anyone coming from the South there are plenty of wilding spots in Dumfries and Galloway which is not to far out of your way. D & G often overlooked by folk heading to Scotland hence its quiet and a stunningly beautiful area.

So I'm in Carlisle at the mo(y)
Moving on in a bit to explore Keilder Forest;)
Where are the rest of you Kelso funsteers???:D

You can park up and overnight outside the tearoom on holy isle. It's been well advertised by the owners on FB.

Not personally been.

It's been handy having the car as town is a good 15min walk away but a Sainsbury's and home base and Aldi are a shiry walk over t he road . Hoping to talk to funstets who Live this way we can get a rally set up for next year .

There isnt much wild camping this way so I would fully recomend this site x

Your mum would have enjoyed the alive and kicking western weekend in my village, pity it's same time as Kelso. There's camping and line dancing.
